Hey all, I just got a call from the missus telling me that she's going to be induced tonight so I'm about to head over to the hospital and let the fun begin. It's a month earlier than we expected but she's got pre-eclampsia so bubs has got to come out. I'm a first-time dad and , admittedly, scared sh!tless, as we thought we had another month to prepare but what the hell, it's happening. Pretty f**kin' surreal.. I'll let you all know how it went.

If you need a tester when your new version is done, you know where to find me.

Space Lobsters!!

Great post Jon. I totally agree with you.

Welwyn's just another boring commuter town.I had a game of rugby there once against the local club, clubrooms were nice but it is a pretty bland place.

They're still receiving mail from the 1890s. It took a long time for the packet boats to make it around the Horn, what with adverse winds and all...
Michael
So I should get my second PBM turn of Kingdom soon then?

rad??!! Haven't heard that said 'round these parts since the 80's

Apaches are pretty quiet. You don't get the wop-wop-wop (like, say, a huey) with a four-bladed rotor.
-
There's also The Most Dangerous Enemy by Stephen Bungay. Probably the best book on the BoB you could read.

Have you not noticed the brown bases for dead soldiers?
Wounded piss their pants - yellow bases
Seriously wounded bleed a lot - red bases
Dead crap their pants - brown bases
There's an old army saying that adrenaline is brown and lumpy,so I always thought that they should go brown the first time a round goes off near their head.

Here's another from the same battle:

Plus, I am sure people would be applying "modern" tactics to their 1914 forces as best as possible in order to gain an advantage.
The breakout of 1918 would be doable though. A lot of modern-day tactics were devised in that period.

Ok so is there any info on this - CMx2: Normandy?
Have a look in this thread for what information we have so far:

My essential mods are:
- Scipio's weapon and vehicle silhouettes
- Scipio's explosions, fire and gun muzzle effects
- proEffects smoke and tracers
- AKD's Sound mod
- Iconed bases (I did make it for me, after all ). I use the bright version for daylight and the faded version for night battles.
- Half-height horizons. makes the desert seem more open.
I've been using z-bee to manage them all.Excellent tool.(You'll like 1.3 when it comes out).
- Scipio's weapon and vehicle silhouettes

Got mine and I wasn't thrilled with the cheap cracked plastic case and the disc with the finger print on it. Nice classy job shipping. FYI. The old style case were probably more expensive and took more time, but damn do they look nice on my bookshelf and at least they protect the product during shipping a bit more than the flimsy cases chosen.
I'm glad I didn't bother with a physical copy this time around then.

I've also dropped a small bone that Kill Stats will go along with units through the Campaign. Which means, in effect, when you look at a unit in the Campaign you'll have a pretty nice snapshot of its combat experience.
Are the kill stats going to be broken down so we can view by mission and/or type? or are they just going to be cumulative totals with perhaps just the last mission only?

[snip]....
I'd really like to see more weight given to the less sexy items on that list seeing as how they would be more relevant to the fighting in the earlier stages of the campaign. The first few days after the landings are the ones I'd like to concentrate on. Oh, and save the SS for the Commonwealth module... (runs for cover)
My thoughts exactly. This ain't Saving Private Ryan. It would make the commonwealth module sell like hotcakes as well. BTW it's great to see some WWII grogness back on the main boards, it's been too long. lol

Why not just use a variable? look for *.jpg?
-
You explained it better though..
-
Sorry, but no. You can't mod 3D models or data, only textures. The first WW2 game using this engine isn't too far away though (Hopefully by the end of the year or early 2010).

[snip]...the AUG, has no fire select, you squezze the trigger a little for single shot, you pull it hard, you get auto fire, i found this to be great although i accidently let of a 2 shot burst once while competative practice, means i wasted a round, and so automaticly missed a target. beats me...at least my 2 shot burst hit at 200m
The Austeyr I used had a two-stage safety, which you pushed in and out with thumb and forefinger. The first click in was single-shot only, while the second click was what you described with single-shot then auto.

That maybe so with the SA80, but I never had any problems using the Steyr (except for the butt plate falling off).I shoot left-handed too.
Oh, and TheVulture: That is one of the most atmospheric shots I've seen.Great Job!!
About to have a pinecone....

Hey all, thanks for all your kind comments, I've just got back from the hospital, I have a daughter:D ,she was born at 1030 pm weighing 4 lbs 10 oz but all is good. She's already breast-fed and she came out yelling her little head off.
They've got her in intensive care just because she's small. After 4 hours of labour, She came out so fast, 2 contractions between crowning and full delivery.I literally blinked and she was out.
Amazing day and the Mrs took the labour pains like a trooper. She got an epidural near the end though, she was absolutely knackered. She's now walking around. We're both still in shock, very surreal... Oh, and it was her birthday as well, so now I have 2 birthday presents to get on 24 November.
