  1. Yes they will so be a bit careful. Purposefully put it 'out of the way' as much as possible to avoid that. Look on the north east side of the bridge there should be one green objective tile on it's own right alongside the bridge. Exit the engineer and it's HQ team. Don't worry about any keeps that may be attached.

Playing this scenario now by PBEM as the Brits.  Which unit is the engineer?  So far I haven't been able to locate it.  Thanks.

  2. JoMc67 I went back and replayed my last PBEM turn and you are absolutely correct, the Brits have 2" mortars.  I was not aware that they did not need to be deployed.  I am wondering it they have to be spotted for my an HQ or observer.  Looks like they can fire directly on their own.

My friend and I installed patch 3.11 before we started the current PBEM game.  I just reinstalled it in the middle of our game because there was no "Target" button showing.  After the re-install, it now shows.

    Thanks for you help.

  3. I reinstalled patch 3.11 and the "Target" button now appears.  However still no "Deploy Weapon" shows in this scenario.  I am thinking that installing a new video card in the middle of our PBEM game has screwed things up so I started the scenario over again as a one player game as a test,  but still no "Deploy Weapon".  I tried another scenario and the "Deploy Weapon" was there.  I guess I will just have to play the remainder of this PBEM game without being able to use my mortars.

  4. I recently upgraded to Game Engine 3 and 3.11.  We then started Joe's Bridge and some strange things happening.  When I click on the combat commands there is no longer a "Target" button, only "Target Light".  Is this a bug?

When I tried to deploy a mortar, the blue target line appeared and below it the following text:

"Click to Place Flavor Object" - Huh?

As a test I loaded up another scenario and again no "Target" combat button.  What gives?

  5. My friend and I were thinking of trying this scenario by PBEM.  I have the Germans and was looking at the unit set up to see what sight lines the three 88's have with the intent of moving them if the sight lines were poor.  All three as set up in the scenario do not have a sight line to the side of the bridge that Allied armour will be advancing from and I cannot move them from their current positions.  They can only spot a small area on the "friendly" side of the bridge so I would have to catch Allied tanks after they have crossed the bridge.

To me the above set up of the 88's renders them almost ineffective.  I am wondering what the experience is of those people who have tried out this scenario.  Thanks.

  6. I am currently in the middle of a PBEM game with a friend and just want to clarify how installing the 3.0 upgrade would impact our game. In this thread someone indicated that as long as you save the game in the command phase and then install the upgrade our current PBEM game would be fine. Is this correct?

Secondly, I assume that both of us would have to install the upgrade to continue, in other words each of us must have the same version. Correct?

Thanks in advance to anyone that can clarify the above for me.

  7. I was looking at the set up for a scenario and noticed some orange circles with crosses in the middle. Not sure what these represent but are these for pre-ranged artillery?

A question about spotting. After a spotter has called in artillery mission, what happens if that spotter gets killed or retreats to a position where it no longer has a line of sight to the point or area that the artillery is supposed to hit? Will the mission still go ahead?

Any help or comments would be much appreciated.

  8. That's right they had move orders but would not obey. Once I gave them the "Reverse" and then followed by an order such as "Hunt" they began moving toward the enemy. It might have something to do with how units stop as soon as there is any kind of fire whether it be artillery, small arms, or armour piercing in front of them or at them. However in this scenario I had 4 tanks on the right flank where there was nothing happening for some time before I was finally able to get them moving using the procedure I described above.

  9. I have been playing a PBEM game of the Montelimar scenario as the Yanks with a friend of mine. A number of my tanks did not move when I gave them orders. Finally I issued them the Reverse order and then another order such as Hunt which finally got them going. Anyone know why they would have ignored my initial orders? Thanks.

  10. Thanks for the replies. If the spotting unit can see the target then the target see the spotting unit which many times results in a firefight and the spotting unit is killed. In the scenario that I am currently playing as the Yanks, there is no German armor so I gave the forward observer unit a armor arc command. The last thing I want the FO to do is start shooting at something and get killed.

I am assuming that the spotters have to observe the rounds falling so they can they tell the artillery whether they are hitting anything. Otherwise I don't see why they can't move back out of the line of sight of enemy units once they have called for artillery.

  11. Once a forward observer or HQ has called for artillery does the spotting unit have to remain in visual contact with the target for the barrage to take place? I am thinking that if the spotting unit is killed before the barrage takes place the barrage does not happen so to be safe, I would like to move back with the spotting unit and give it a "hide" command. Any comments or feedback would be much appreciated.

  12. About half way through playing Wittman's Demise with a buddy of mine and the scenario is worth the price of the game. Tigers, Panthers, Fireflys and now it looks like there is going to be some infantry action so what is there not to like?

I am the Germans and was looking at the briefing in regards to objectives. Point 122 is off the map on the road to Caen so I am wondering if I am supposed to exit units on that road?

    Anyway, a great scenario!

  13. I've read the thread on how to install a mod so I think I understand how to do it but I still have a couple of questions. On some of my scenarios I get shimmering on hedgerows and shadows. I thought I saw a mod that stabilized this?

Secondly one of the reasons why I haven't installed a mod in the past is that I'm wondering what happens each time I install a patch or as I just did last week purchase version 2.0. Does the mod stay in the game or do you have to reinstall it?

    Any comments/help would be appreciated.
