  1. Hey Guys, hope this sheds some light on the subject. I'm currently running CMBB on an iMac 350, G3 with the ATI Rage 128VR card without incident. The only video problem I'm experiencing is that some of the resolution is so-so when covering the finest of detail, but other than that, all is good. Perhaps looking into the fact that my older model is able to handle the graphics and the change in architecture as opposed to the newer processors and drivers, is the way to approach this. What was "improved upon" may be the key.
  2. Many, many thanks to Steve, Charles, Matt and the rest of the gang at BF for taking time away from your other projects to revisit this one. Not only does your game deserve high praise, but your responsiveness and commitment to us as well. Thank you! [ March 14, 2003, 03:23 PM: Message edited by: PlattCmdr ]
  3. For those new to this issue, I've taken the liberty of re-posting--out of context--one of several responses by Steve (see the "un-hittable gun" post) that will probably sum up for you the fact that this problem is likely to be addressed in the future by the folks at Battlefront. posted March 05, 2003 11:50 PM "Folks, when we find a bug and confirm it we leave absolutely NO DOUBT in anybody's mind about it. We also explicitely state if the bug will be addressed or not. And if we do not think it is a bug, or are not sure, we say so straight out. If you find yourself splitting hairs and reading tealeaves to determine if what we said confirms a bug, then the answer should be obvious... someone is misreading our comments. Now that that's out of the way, let's look at this new bug that I have not even heard about until now There appears to be three hit issues that have been raised on this BBS. Here they are and where we stand on each: 1. Shots hitting ground when shooter is Hull Down - this was understood to be a bug going all the way back into CMBO, but was not apparent until CMBB 1.0 (and wasn't even seriously seen until 1.01 for some reason). This was absolutely a bug and was fixed for 1.02. 2. Shots walking to target one right after the other in a straight line - looks like something is wrong, but Charles has not looked into it yet and therefore it is not confirmed as a bug. If it turns out to be a bug Charles will try and fix it. 3. Shots impacting at base of a small hill and not hitting some types of targets (i.e. guns) when using more or less flat trajectory fire - my hunch is that this is a bug, but since I only passed the info onto Charles 5 minutes ago I don't have confirmation yet at this point. If it turns out to be a bug Charles will try and fix it. Is this clear enough are people going to find a 4th situation and say that I confirmed it is a bug before I ever heard of it? "
  4. I have to add myself to the list of those not understanding the particulars behind this topic. I have noticed the blurring of features, especially vehicle markings, so I know this problem applies in my case. What I'm not understanding is what, if anything, can I do about this. I'm using G3 system with an ATI-128k Rage card with 8mb RAM (I know, ancient but there it is) Someone mentioned "fooling" the system by adjusting "up" the resolution grade. Is this effective, and if so, how is this done? Thanks in advance.

  6. I can appreciate your frustration over simpletons who are unable to aknowledge 9-11 as a tragic event, without the need to identify it as an "American tragedy". I am an American, and as proud and dutybound as I feel, and hurt by the great loss we as a nation continue to feel, I cannot discount or ignore the fact that there were many representatives from other parts of the world who also lost their lives that day and also deserve to be recognized. It was more than an American tragedy, it was a tragedy affecting all of humanity. Not to tarnish the sincerity of what I said above, but I am new to CM (hence, my reason for being in this forum) and, since making a "public" offer, am wondering if you'd be able to send those help files my way as well.

  8. While downloading mods for different vehicle types, I've noticed that the "base codes" i.e. "12285.bmp" for some of the units are repeated, and therfore, so are the images on screen. For instance, the T-34/85 Mod 1944, T-34/85 Mod 1944 (late), OT-34/85 Flame Tank and T-44 all share the BMP files starting with the number "13780" and therefore, produce a carbon copy image no matter which of the above types of vehicle are displayed. It's repeated several other times too...i.e. IS-1, IS-2 Mod 1943, IS-2 Mod 1944 (early), and IS-2 Mod 1944 all starting with BMP number "7060" and with the SU-85M and SU-100 both starting with BMP number "12340." More as well, but I'll save on bandwidth. I'm new to this, and so am wondering whether this is an intentional omission on the part of the game designers given the relative closeness in appearance of these vehicles, or did I miss something? Subtle differences in appearance in some cases, yet still beats redundancy. Thanks in advance for any helpful replies. [ February 12, 2003, 07:50 AM: Message edited by: PlattCmdr ]
