  1. Dude (native Californian speak), you just got your butt smoked, 74%-26%. I figured you'd be foaming at the mouth like the famed Saint Bernard from that Steven King movie and insist on an immediate rematch; but alas, you're running home like Lassie. Now, you fought a good fight, and being that this marks my first match and sole win against you, I figure it would be then inappropriate to force you to pin a sig line on yourself like, "The only Northern Exposure I get these days is my bare ass running in the opposite direction of PlatCmdrs SMGs." As for the rest of you maggots, I hang a request out to air dry and not one nibble, not one bite, not one of you has some precious time to toss me a friggin' bone? PBEMs people, who's out there?
  2. I'm a feckin' idgit (don't quote me on that) and hit the "new topic" button instead of the "post reply" button and posted an earlier message to the main page. Well, enough with this self-effacing tribute to my inability to function after a 12 hour shift. Achem, as for my previous post: Okay maggots, I find myself with the unusual luxury of having too much time on my hands. In the sweltering Vegas heat, I'm now stuck inside with a cold one and a skyrocketing electric bill until the "freeze" comes in September. So. there's plenty of time to: 1) Give Nippy a chance to win his honor back (three months ought to be enough time). 2) Take any maggot takers on in a little tet-a-tet
  3. Look who's still alive! And here I thought the army might have finally recruited you. What in the hell is up with your email account, I've been trying to send that file for days now. Either check your email account or give me a new address to send it to.

  5. Well, had your Krauts not wandered into the bush to play grab-ass, there would have been no need for them to dance to the tune of my SMGs. And speaking of which, your forces now appear to be dancing right off the screen...perhaps the "heavy metal" was a bit too loud.
  6. Originally posted by Nippy: So...should you tell him we are in an infantry only fight or should I? Now that would mean all that bandwidth was in vain, cruel, cruel. And I'm afraid that would only spurn him to churn up more incomprehensible drivel from old issues of "Jane's Guide for Dummies"  Speaking of infantry. If I had it to do over again I would have gone with Paratroopers. 12 men per squad X8Rifle X2SMG X2LMG. Only 3 squad s per platoon but it would put them on par with a Russian rifle squad. You'll get your chance, as I figure a rematch is in store either way.

  9. Well, let's just say that LOS is a fickle thing, and not always what you think it is... On the serious side, yes there is an odd degree of disparity between Russian and German infantry setups. Now, not being a grog, I can't argue the legitamacy of the setup, but can offer the following as but one example to validate your point (borrowed from the CMBB Strategy Guide): 1942 Infantry breakdown: *German SS* Infantry Squad - Fire power (fp) @ 40M = 117 fp @ 100M = 80 fp @ 250M = 45 fp @ 500M = 23 *Russian Regular infantry* Regimental Recon A - fp @ 40M = 230 fp @ 100M = 103 fp @ 250M = 43 fp@500M = 12 [ May 22, 2003, 04:12 AM: Message edited by: PlatCmdr ]
  10. "Fritz, be afraid, be very afraid, as I noticed you were when running your squads away from cover and into the open. And btw, dem Russkies have plenty in the way of reserves...but don't you worry none, they won't bite unless you run into those little orange colored zones... Ooops...sorry. Almost forgot you couldn't see them..." Hmmm...would that be the untouched Jager squad on the horizon? Oh yeah, they got to taste a little lead just now too.
  11. Couldn't care, already expecting it...how predictable and right on cue. Btw, how's your cousin "Flank", he says you haven't called in awhile. Oh, and you should be experiencing a few well placed explosions with the last turn sent...hope that doesn't shatter the resolve of your pathetic ass monkeys too much. {edited to:} 1) Include the " ". I wouldn't want to be accussed of slinging angst without provocation...which I might add, I'm still waiting for Nipples} 2) Oh no, update time...is that a couple of your squads in the forest that won't be coming home for X-Mas? Should have stuck to humping bears. [ May 21, 2003, 05:53 PM: Message edited by: PlatCmdr ]
  12. Great, thanks for the replies. Also, how specifically do arty/mortar spotters show up when seen as sound contacts, as they aren't "support weapons" by definition?
  13. When noticing high upon a hill, an enemy contact (the soldier icon) designated by the word "Crew,?" does this reperesent either a mortar, artillary spotter or machine gun exclusively, or could it also represent a sharpshooter, anti-tank rifleman or infantry that is miss-identified?
  14. The good news is, they are supposed to come out with some type of fix for that in the new patch. Until then, it'll continue to be nothing but...
  15. SoggBalls, where's that UberDam scenario you promised? [ May 19, 2003, 06:25 PM: Message edited by: PlatCmdr ]

  17. Bastard AI decided to play XO and pass out an early leave notice to an HQ unit, that hadn't even seen, let alone conquered the enemy, to earn it. Having now had the time to finish a bowl of chipmunk stew, my troops couldn't be more ready to go postal and whip up a few rounds of that fascist monkey dung. No need for flashlights, the onset of rabbis followed by a few Vodka chasers will be more than enough.
  18. Why use the euphemism, "AAR", when what you really mean is "eulogy"...as in, "ode to the fascist pigs who are now nothing more, and still likely less, than tiny heaps of smoldering monkey dung." This plot paid for by PlatCmdr. Now try not to spend a week setting things up, it is a small map so you are bound not to get lost. And I know you're Alaskan, and women are scarce, but please do your best to resist the urge to stop and hump the bears while moving your forces through the forest. Thank you.

  20. What's up with all the anger in these posts, anyhow? I'd be more than happy to dish out a can of whoopass to any challenger while doing it shat-eatin-grin style
  21. Just thought I'd pass on the following address for a non-commercial Website that does an excellent job of profiling German unit types: http://www.achtungpanzer.com
  22. Lookey here, they even feast upon their own... For a group that supposedly prides itself on the privileges of rank, the notion of "nobility" seems to have vanished like a virgin on Prom night... The mighty MBT has soiled its own feathers...dirty, dirty bird [ May 10, 2003, 08:10 AM: Message edited by: PlattCmdr ]
  23. Great sugestion! I like that idea of removing the tank image via using "shift-v" and going for area fire on its footprint. That indeed may work. And if it doesn't, I say piss on these squads, and next time, I'm just going to have to rely on those Pioneer scrappers and their explosives.

  25. Logically, yes, this of course makes sense in real life...and as much as this game does an incredible job of simulating most real-life situations, it is afterall, just a game.
