  1. Yes the terrain cover does change with the seasons..

I'll quote page 53 of the manual..

"Terrain also changes with the different seasons. For example, depending on the scenarios time and date, trees can be dense and thick(summer) or leafless(winter).Grain fields also change dramatically with the seasons andweather. This has a direct impact on the concealment and cover provided by such terrain."

    Hope this helps

The unit will not be able to do *what*? Accept the command? Or decide what to do about an APC it hasn't yet seen, or... wha? Could you be bothered to rephrase that? Clearly this is the golden nugget of the thread!

I think this is what he means.

Lets take Side A and Side B

Side A has a APC behind a hill Side B has a Anti tank team in some woods on other side of hill..

Now with the current engine you as the commander can see the APC and order the Anti tank team to sneak up and destroy the APC even though the AT team does not have a LOS to the APC so would not even know that the APC is even by the hill in real life. Now in the new engine..you would not be able to order the AT team to attack the APC even though you as the player know its there..Because the AT team in actuallity does not know that the APC is behind the hill cause they may not have spotted or heard it..So you would need to have the AT team actually see or hear the APC sirst hand to be able to get them to attack it..This is just my analysis but if i am wrong please correct me.

  3. Hey bud

Always good to have a new face come to these great games...One note one the 1.02 patch for CMBB..The last post from anyone from Battlefront said it will not be available for a little while yet

I will be releasing some 1.02 info here shortly, but for the time being here is a small bone to gnaw on.

I can say that there are 7 new models and 10 older models that have been updated.

In order to patch to 1.02 you MUST have already patched to 1.01 beforehand.

Will the patch be ready by the end of the month (6 days)?

Hmmm, I wouldn't count on it as we need to coordinate with the file mirrors and with CDV still.

So give that a bit of time..But here is a link to get you started Modding away..

    Combat Mission HQ

This site is run by one of the members of the Battlefront team

And one more excellent sites for Mods

  4. I just downloaded the CMMOS rulesets and mods from CMHQ.However 3 of the rulesets have no rules files only a credits.rtf file and an info.txt file..Is this normal or did someone forget to put the rule files in the zips..I am new to this so I dont know to much. These are the rulesets that seem to be missing the rule files..I tried downloading 3 times to make sure that the download did not screw up but still same thing.

  5. Tigrii knows exactly what he is talking about...Hull down is a great way to deal with opposing AFV's..

Another way you could do it is a combination of your tactic and Tigrii's..

Place one or two of the T-34's hull down to occupy the STUG...Then move the remaining tanks under cover toward the flank of the STUG.That way your overpowering its ability to defend itself without exposing its flank to either the flanking tanks or to the Hull down tank. But in this case his would be the more prudent tactic to use.

    Edit for spelling

  6. What you did in my opinion is not gamey at all..you did what any commander on a battlefeild would probly do..You had an objective to achieve and you believed you had the force to do it with.So you took a calculated risk and pushed forward toward the objective. As it turned out your guess was right on and you manged to take the objective point.Hell war is nothing more than calculated risks. You used in my opinion was a blitzkrieg style attack of push the tanks ahead and the infantry can come up and mop up.

  9. I would like to see North Africa as well...Or even for the Italian Campaigns..like the invasion at Anzio or the battles on Sicily etc..But more than anything to see a Pacific Theater.I would love to recreate the invsions of Tarawa Atoll..Iwo Jima.Fighting at Guadal Canal and in China .

But modern times would be great as well...

  10. I dont think Iraq will have the capability to use Chem/Bio weapons on his own people even if he wanted to.It would take a large artillery contingent and or missles to deliver enough to do any real damage. His other option would be to use the existing helicopters and gunships as sprayers as he has done in the past.

I believe the united States first priority would be to lauch a massive air campaign as was done in the first war and also in Afghanistan before any ground forces would be sent in.So Iraqs artillery,Aircraft,Missles would be main targets hopefully making Husseins use of them as platforms for Chem/Bio weapons a non factor.

As for his tactics against the US.I see no possibility of a toe to toe engagement as his Army is ill trained in the full use of what they have. The T-72's and such that he has are deadly weapons but only if used by a well trained crew.Still no match for our M1's and such but if properly used could still cause numerous casualties. His only hope would be to hole up in the cities and wait. But I dont think his Army will be willing to face a second war against us.The Republican Guard may put up a fight as they did in the frst war but the average sodier I feel will not want to fight after what they went through against us before. However this is just my humble opinion and two cents worth.

  11. I to have only just now gotten into these two terrific games.I got the bundle pack about 3 weeks ago and am just starting to get the Mods, maps, and scenarios to add to them.I had never even heard about the games until I was on Google image search looking for screenshots of wargames when I ran into the screenies of tese games and the Battlefront site.I got the demo and tried it out and after about 4 battles was online putting in my order..I have been hooked since.I can tell you now that you will not be disappointed..This is worth every penny you are paying and then some.
