  1. If you don't want to post your e-mail address, just send an e-mail to mine at comradeloganov@aol.com Logan Hartke
  2. Well, Dan, I need your e-mail address. They might get put on SCHQ, but I don't know how soon. Logan Hartke
  3. Dan, if you like JayJay's icons, you might want to take a look at mine. I can e-mail them to you if you would like. I can either e-mail you my whole pack of icons. So far, completed, I have a WWII pack containing T-34 tank series icons, KV/IS tank series icons, those two versions with rail guns for each country (instead of the rocket icons) and I have a 1962 Cold War set of icons. Also, I'm currently working on WWI icons (will be finished soon) and have a 1985 Cold War set on the back burner. Logan Hartke
  4. I can tell you about the computer game since I own it. First of all, there are two versions, Axis & Allies and Axis & Allies: Iron Blitz. I like Iron Blitz a lot, but the old, regular version of the game is not worth getting. The bad news? Good luck finding the regular version let alone Iron Blitz. I've found one on ebay, it still has over a day left and is already selling for $109.50. The good news? It can be downloaded. Go to Google and type in... "axis allies iron blitz download", but don't use quotation marks. You should find a number of sites that you can download it from. I have cable internet and was able to download it and install it in the time it took me to write this post. Axis & Allies: Iron Blitz Advantages </font> It encompasses the entire world, not just Europe.</font></font>It allows a person to change unit attributes and costs. This feature is handy in representing the fact that it was harder and more expensive for Germany to build a battleship than the USA.</font></font> Allegiances can be changed with one click. That way, an alternate history where Russia and Germany ally can be done easily. Also, it's easier to do Cold War and WWI games with this option.</font></font>You can put as many units in one territory as you want. Want to defend Moscow with 5,628 infantry armies? By all means, go ahead.</font> Disadvantages </font> It deals with these huge, oddly shaped territories, which make as much sense as gerrymandered voting districts.</font></font>A person can lose his or her entire fleet based on wierd dice rolls. Example, it's not unusual for one fighter unit to destroy a battleship or 3-4 transports.</font></font> Strategic bombers are too powerful. Nuff said.</font></font>Unit sizes are too big. There is no damage or strength. You either have a unit or you don't. Strategic Command unit sizes are perfect, although I think that you should be able to stack two units in Strategic Command on one hex... but you can't.</font></font> It evolved from a board game, so AI is aweful and the gameplay is too simple for a computer game, especially when compared to Strategic Command.</font></font>It's much harder to modify the look of the game.</font></font> The game is REALLY buggy. (Although Iron Blitz is not half as buggy as the regular version)</font> Bugs... (a very small list) </font>Tanks can "hover" however many spaces over water they are allowed to move (default is two but you can change that) as long as they land in a transport.</font></font> Heavy bombers with the paratroop ability activated can carry two unit to an unoccupied enemy territory, drop one unit off, pick him back off the territory, (area is now yours) and fly home all in one turn. REALLY wierd.</font></font>AI is retarded at best.</font></font> There are more, but they aren't very problematic nor are they common.</font> I hope that helps, Logan Hartke
  5. SeaMonkey, did you get the icons? If so, what did you think of them? Also, does anyone else want them? Logan Hartke
  6. I did, but I've been drafting a reply for the past few hours on and off (when I get a few spare minutes). I just sent it off. Logan Hartke
  7. I sent my 1962 stuff to Narayan and CvM. Does anyone else want them? I don't know when they'll get onto SCHQ, so I don't know how long you'd have to wait to just download them from the site. Logan Hartke
  8. SeaMonkey, I made some pretty neat rail gun icons for it. Do you want the file? I'll also prolly try to get them to CvM to maybe get put onto SCHQ for anyone else who wants them. Logan Hartke
  9. I can make one pretty easily, just tell me what you guys want. Railway guns ok? Maybe just heavy artillery (150mm+ size)? Or do you want mobile guns such as the Hummel? In the 1962 mod, I have a mobile SCUD launcher for the Soviets, a mobile Pershing missile launcher for the Americans and Brits, and the AMX-30 Pluton launcher for the French. Logan Hartke
  10. See, I didn't know that, but do you allow aircraft? I could modify those and ships if you want. Again, not saying that I 'll get to it anytime soon, if at all. It depends on whether I'm back into SC at the time. Logan Hartke
  11. If you want CvM, I can do a flat tile version like all of my others with WWI equipment (I can try to do things like replace rocket icons with the Paris Gun). Maybe a linear tank development with Britain, for example where it begins with Little Wille and ends with a Vickers Medium. No promises on how long it'll take since I tend to be a perfectionist. Oh, BTW, I have a Renault FT17, a Mark VIII Heavy Tank, and a Char D1, which are examples of what I might do if I make a WWI mod units bitmap. Logan Hartke
  12. I use my own, which, for all intensive purposes, are the ones on CvM's website (I have tweaked them further ever so slightly). I switch between my T-34 and my KV/IS-series icons depending on what I want that game, but I am very pleased with the icons I made and their historical accuracy. I made some compromises just to capture a vehicle's overall look in my mind, but they're basically as accurate as the format will allow. Try them out or at least look at them if you haven't already. They're on CvM's website under interface mods. I like the flat icon look since I always used to play the Panzer General board game. You may not like the flat look, but I made them for me and then decided to make them available for others. Logan Hartke
  13. Hey, anyone remember me? I just started playing Strategic Command after a long hiatus away from the game. In case anyone cares or is interested, I have a few more unit bitmaps. A T-34 version of my good old WWII units is now complete. I also have the whole kit and kaboodle modified for the 1962 mod (all vehicles, ships, aircraft, rockets, etc. have been modified to fit the later time scale). Included in that are modified hex sprites, light hex sprites, strength sprites, medals, and flags replacing all gray German hexes and such w/ Soviet red. Whenever I get around to it, I'll zip them all and send them to CvM if he'd be kind enough to put them on his website for downloading. Again, the units are a modification of my WWII version which are modifications of Moder's Aid 'Flat' Tile Sprite. The medals are a modification of Gds_Starfury's medals and the hexes are modifications of Martinov's, I think. Anyway, I'll try to put those together and see if CvM will upload them to his site sometime over this next week. First, though, I want to playtest them (I know they'll work, I just want to see how they look). Logan Hartke
  14. I know, that's the strategy I have always used; it isn't very quick. That's why I asked if there is a better way to do it. Logan Hartke
  15. Not really. The US produced almost as many tanks as the Russians in a much shorter period of time. If you look at the US's peak tank production and Russia's peak tank production, America wins out. Logan Hartke
  16. Is there an easy way to take that darn nut? That and Malta give me the hardest time. I've taken both of them, but not without a lot of time and effort. I usually have to transport 1-2 HQs, 2 armies (panzer or infantry), and typically some air power as well. This gets expensive very quickly, not to mention time consuming. Also, Alexandria tends to just keep resupplying itself without limit. Also, how does one destroy Malta (assuming the fighter is left there)? Logan Hartke
  17. I love the look of the game. I also agree 110% with everything that SeaWolf_48 said, but I have a few more comments to add to his, although those are best saved for another day. Although I'm only 16, I'm still a Panzer Leader junkie (although a late-comer compared to many on the forum who used to play it). I love the look of the map. I changed many of my icons, but the map is the same, because I like it that way. I don't want any more detail or any "3D" effects. I do have some bone to pick about road networks and rivers, however. Logan Hartke
  18. wether or not it "should be a bug" is not the issue. The issue is whether or not it stays within the constaints of the stated rules.</font>
  19. I think that a supply map version of the normal map would be a great feature. Those familiar with the Sim City series of games know that there are different versions of the map such as underground map, electricity, water supply, population, etc. Here a couple examples... Normal Version Underground Version Something like that with varying shades of orange or some other color. That way, it would be a lot easier to check supply. 20. I don't think that it should be a bug. Subs adjacent to enemy land should be automatically spotted. Coast-watchers, Civil Air Patrol, and picnickers all make for at least a 75% chance of being spotted. Again, remember that this is over a two-week period. A sub would have to surface many times in two-weeks and if it was within 50 miles of land, it would likely have been spotted. Logan Hartke
  21. It currently wouldn't work to do an SC of the Pacific due to the size of the ocean and the small size of the islands. Just like Malta and Gibraltar, Corrigidor and Wake would never fall due to their inability to be invaded. With only one hex and the current rules of no more than one unit per hex, including amphibious assualts, the Japanese would never be able to attack Wake, Midway, and others. Also, Iwo Jima, Okinawa, and others could never be invaded. Also, atomic weaponry would have to be included and everybody would rush to just get that technology. I would LOVE for the Pacific to be included, but game dynamics would have to be seriously overhauled to allow, but I believe that it could be done and that it would work VERY well if the effort was put into it. 22. BTW - as long as I have some free time, I'd be willing to play just about anybody TCP-IP sometime soon. I'm a n00b and I'm sure that I'll be beaten like a n00b, but I've beaten the Allies as Axis on +100% and +1 exp., so I figure I'll play a human and make it REALLY hard (and not so predictable). 23. AIM: comradeloganov MSN: comradeloganov@aol.com I use Trillian, too. Logan Hartke
  24. OJT. That's how I learned. If I can, they can, too. Logan Hartke
  25. Thanks. Some people complain on other forums about not giving credit to the sites where I got them from, but if they are too lazy to right click and select properties, then they don't deserve to know in my opinion. Logan Hartke
