  1. I couldn't agree more. I have a thing for assault guns and that epitomises the best for me. Did you see the side profile pix I took of it's thick sloping armour? God forbid you ever came face to face with that. How the he'll would you penetrate it - scary stuff indeed!
  2. hi all @ aragorn - yes it is a wonderful palce and really worht a visit. Got chatting to 2 older gents while I was waiting in the queue for my food - not sure what nationality they were but they had made the 'pilgimage' to Bovington. @ Holien with regard to the phone photos - yup they're not that bad are they? I have an iPhone 3GS - apparently the iPhone 4 takes even better photos - nice. LOL was wondering what you were talking about the nordic crew - just checked through the photos and realised I didnt edit out the non Bovington related stuff. That crew is part of the charity raft race that is held annually in Christchurch, Dorset to raise money for charity - that was our entry ) All the other stuff are pics of my daughter, workmates and pizza box design (I am a graphic designer - that was the Gourmet range pizza box design for Domino's - oops!!). @ statis - sorry I dont know if this camo scheme has a historical significance - what is interesting is that earlier photos of the same tank at Bovington have a different scheme. My guess it has some significance - I should have studied the board a bit more. I got left with the little one at this stage. Was trying to get snaps of her next to the AP round by the tank so you guys could see the size. No dice though - small/fast child and glaring/reflective plastic case made it impossible . If my memory serves me right Erwin the stug in the shots is also Finnish. Regards Skimbo
  3. As long as the question can be understood i say bollox to grammar! And yes I know that's not how you spell bollox... Skimbo
  4. Well here is the link to the snaps - seems Flickr is quicker to use than photobucket: http://www.flickr.com/photos/35509139@N03/ I would imagine all the grogs here know there tanks but if there are any questions about the photos I can help with let me know - I'm not the most informed person but I'll try and recall what I read. Please ignore the first photo of the VW T5. We passed this on the way home and it just happened to have the exact same alloys on as were stolen from my garage about 3 months ago. Got the wife to keep driving past it so I could snap it and pass the info onto the police - could be another story developing. Remember you heard it here first, hush hush and on the QT.... ;o) Enjoy the snaps. Regards Skimbo
  5. Hi all Well I have returned with some snaps of various armour. I will endeavour to upload these tomorrow via photobucket. I would love to do it tonight but my long suffering wife bore the brunt of today's visit needs some quality time - quid pro quo n'all. Got panther, x2 king tigers, 1 tiger with it's engine out, jagdpanther, jagdtiger, stug, Hetzer, pz1, 2, 3, ,4, t26, kv1, t34 85, Sherman m4a1, firefly, m10, m8 greyhound (interesting decals on the greyhound just like one of fusers skins - awesome!!), comet, cruiser tanks, sdkfz plus a load of modern armour. What an incredible place! Skimbo
  6. It certainly is a treasure trove - be off in half an hour excitement!!! They also have a great gift shop chock full of military books and they're all really cheap. Need some reading for my holiday next week. I shall return bearing snaps of armoured naughtiness Skimbo
  7. By the way, skimbo, if you're at all interested i the Italian Theater, you need sdp's Italian Campaign Mod. Hey MJkerner Is there an italian campaign? Sorry I'm confused - thought this was all about Normandy. Are there some campaign mods people have done simulating Italian campaign using the Normandy stuff? Regards Skimbo
  8. At statis I don't own a digital camera - iPhone takes perfectly good pics and regarding android - i would rather boil my bottom than own a phone other than an apple product At jim/James i was fortunate enough 30 years ago (omg am I that old?!?!) to go round the entire tank range in a chieftan, courtesy of a captain my dad had done some work for. Suffice to say I was a very happy 9 year old Last time I was there I got to stand in the commanders cupola of the king tiger. Got nattering with the maintenance volunteers and they invited me up - absolutely incredible how tall it is and how empowered you feel. I could only imagine what it would have been like to ride into battle. At mikey d - they have a section in the museum all about Lawrence of Arabia - a fascinating character who for the most part despised the fame his exploits brought him. If you want I can try and photograph some of the info. The place will have changed considerably since you were last there it won a lottery grant and it really is quite swish now! At wicky - they have a scorpion I believe. This is the aluminium light tank 80s era? Also handy for traversing minefields with at mines - apparently it has the ground pressure of a man if memory serves me. Will ask them but not sure if they will be willing to part with an exhibit Regards Skimbo
  9. Hi all Not really sure where to post this, seemed a good as place as any. Anyway all being well I will be visiting bovington tank museum tomorrow - it has (arguably) one of the best tank collections in the world. I will be armed with my iPhone so I can take snaps. Are there any tanks you guys would like some piccies of? An example of some of the goodies they have are a working tiger tank, 2 king tigers 1 of which has a prototype Porsche turret, hetzer, panther, jagdpanther, t34 85, kv1, Sherman the list goes on... Regards A very excited Skimbo
  10. I notice in the mission cats chasing dogs I ordered a m8 scout car through a low brick wall then was miffed to discover it had damaged the wheels on it - doh! I love this game... Skimbo
  11. Thanks for this, I was going to post and ask what people's must have mods are but this has waved me. Does anyone have any youtube/video footage of the voices sound mod mord has done? I've found the vehicle sounds mod someone has created - just compiling my must have list. Skimbo
  12. Thanks again for all your great responses guys - will reread them again and hopefully it might make sense soon! Skimbo
  13. Omg! So much to learn but thats cool why I enjoy this game so much. Thx for a very informative response! Regards Skimbo
  14. This is another thing that I don't understand - the structure of armies. When you say platoons and sections i am confused. Sorry for my noobishness. I could go the net and find out but I like hearing it from the source - you guys seem to know a lot about this stuff and it would be great to heAr from the horses mouth if you know what I mean. Thanks again all for any help. Skimbo
  15. thanks a lot for the help guys - great forum as always Skimbo
  16. Hi all Hopefully learned chaps can help me As I understand it ammo sharing occurs when a unit is approx 8m from another. I moved a single bloke armed with 180 9mm smg rounds next to a reduced squad of 3, 2 with rifles 7.62 and one with a 9mm smg with only 5 rounds. During the course of the next couple of turns I couldn't see the ammo count changing on either of the fellas armed with the smgs. Any ideas? Another question: I have a forward observer with a radio and 2 81mm mortars parked half way across the map. The mortars do not have radios but they are stood next to a hq unit who does have a radio. When I try to call in a mortar strike it says unit out of contact. I was kind of hoping as they had a radio dude next to them they would be able to receive fire missions. Is this a c&c issue? If so I'm confused - could someone explain to me how it works. Thanks in advance chaps! skimbo
  17. Thanks for the response guys - much appreciated Skimbo
  18. Absoultely not! One game I played surrendering units were caught in the middle of wicked crossfire - slowly but surely they fell... Think only one unit managed to surrender/survive in that fracas - ouch! Skimbo
  19. Hi all Just a quick post to see if anyone can help me. I have no trouble stringing most commands together (i.e. move quick, hunt to next waypoint with cover arc etc) but what I can't seem to do is get guys/guns to dismount from vehicles in the same turn. An example: in the training mission I receive reinforcements in two jeeps. I wanted to race one of these jeeps to reinforce an understrength LMG team. I place all my waypoints - no problem, but for whatever reason the last waypoint where I want them to dismount and move toward my lmg guys the dismount button is greyed out/can't be selected. So essentially I have to waste a turn waiting for my guys to reach the destination and the vehicle to stop and just sit there doing nothing. Only on the next turn can they be dismounted and as a result they are the mercy of whoever happens along. Am I missing something blindinly obvious? Any help gratefully received BTW the game is incredible! Who would have thought that a turn based game could be so intense? In this particular training scenario (RAFF no.3) my lmg squad outflanked and single handedly destroyed 4 german squads - not bad for 3 lads! Of particular not in the replay was the german who went to throw a grenade at my LMG guys but was cut down just as he was about to throw - suffice to say the grenade dropped from his hand, exploded killing himself and incapacitating another german soldier who was trying to run away - amazing! Thanks for an amazing game battlefront! I can't wait for another Barbarossa to Berlin some time in the future. Skimbo
  20. I've got the original TOW and was good fun though somewhat limited without the ability to fight/hide in buildings - it looks like TOW2 could be the definitive version which remedies all these annoyances present in the first. Good work guys - cant wait to get my hands on this. Skimbo
  21. Thanks for the replies guys - much appreciated. Skimbo
  22. Hi all Just a question regarding shock force before I jump in and buy it. How accurate are the tank guns? The reason I ask is that in CMBB you weren't always guaranteed a hit. With the accuracy of main battle tanks guns nowadays (I think it's about a 98% chance of a hit) I feel this might take the fun out of the game somewhat. Can someone enlighten me as to how this part of the game fares? Oh and before some bugger tells me that a 98% chance of scoring a hit is incorrect I read it at Bovington Tank Museum - hey I don't make up the stats! Skimbo
  23. Ah... Good to see you're back! Looking forward to your videos. Skimbo
  24. Any more of your videos ready to go yet mate? Skimbo
