  1. Omg!! I can't believe we're getting some eastern front action again - I am so stoked, this is the best news Iv'e heard since the fat boys split up. Thank god they have flame-throwers back in - question though: Is the fires self propagating (i.e. does it spread?). That was so amazing in CMBB.
  2. Looking at the 1.1 fix list looks like an iPhone version is in the offing. Woot!! Skimbo
  3. Sticking my oar in... If you have Apple TV you can mirror to your HDTV thus making whether its on iphone or iPad irrelevant. Only thing with the Iphone is you would need dinky digits maybe... ;o) Skimbo

Dont worry I'm not expecting you to furnish your rabid fans with daily updates of your work second by second - (but have you heard of twitter? ) just curious cos' your mods are all degrees of loveliness and fab. If you could just cancel any engagements/real life priorites (actually cancel Christmas come to think about it) and keep em coming!!! Just kidding about christmas... Skimbo

  11. Wow! Seems this thread has grown arms and legs - but a thoroughly interesting read by all contributors! On the graphics front Theatre of War Kursk/Caen is the pinnacle for me of beautifully rendered vehicles - they really are a joy to behold. However for me the gameplay of CMBN absolutely trumps TOW in every way. Thats not to say graphics in CMBN are bad, they are great and perform an admirable job - what I didnt realise is that coding fire and its graphics/effects/ would be such a headache. Skimbo
  12. Thanks for replies. Would be awesome to get this added at some later stage. Keep up the godo work BF dudes. Skimbo
  13. Hi all Just a question: can tracer rounds (or any ordanance for that matter) set fire to corn or other combustibles in the game? Reason I ask is I remember a cool game years ago I played in CMBB where some german naughtiness was in progress. As I recall it was a few ground sloggers and a scout car. Scout car was mortared and caught fire and troops were being sprayed by HMG. The Lil' pixel fellas went to ground to hide - but this is where it got really cool/hot - the wheatfield started to burn near the mortared vehicle and began to spread. Eventually (around 3 turns later) it had spread close enough to the troopers that they decided it was time to bugger off - and so they did amid another hail of Maxim lead. I just thought this was one of the coolest things in a game ever. Despite the shabby graphics it was details like this that added such colour/life to the game. So is this propogating fire coolness still modeled? Anyone had a similar experience or seen it in action? Regards Skimbo
  14. Do I jsut delete your previous version 2 of sounds and use this? V3 file size seems smaller to v2 and dont want to lose any of the excellent sounds from v2. Regards Skimbo
  15. Thank you for clearing taht up - thought I might have dreamt it ... Regards Skimbo
  16. Just a quickie Say I wanted to play someone by email how do i go about it? God forbid i do - I am probably the worst general in history.... Regards Skimbo
  17. Hmmm interesting points all. Didn't think about the machine gun being belt fed - that might be an explanation. I'm not sure how ammo arrives at the battlefield - but it would be handy if you had 2 different types 7.62 single rounds and 7.62 belt fed for the vehicles so you could grab some. However I guess historically this would not be accurate? (enlighten the noobie please! ) Would recon/tanks have their own logistic units that would take care of this element separate from the footslogger/grunt? Regards Skimbo
  18. If I may offer something ammo related I noticed the other night when playing on the battle strange awakening. I had 2 german mortar teams and I parked two mortar ammo trucks next to the mortars and got the drivers to dismount. I'm sure the ammo count went up on the mortar teams to 61 HE rounds and 14 smoke rounds. Can only assume this is because they were set up next to the ammo trucks and within easy reach of the goodies the trucks contained. Sound logical to anyone else? Thought I was going to have to board the guys to acquire the extra ammo. Skimbo
  19. Cleared it up for me and seems to make perfect sense. Skimbo
  20. Hi all I know you can 'acquire' ammo by getting your fellas to mount a vehicle and select the appropriate ammo type. What puzzle me is this: I had a german scout car (name escapes me - chicken wire roof, 7.62mm mgun, 20mm cannon - 3 man crew) and it had completely expended its ammo. I reversed it back up to the rail station disembarked the crew and acquired 500 rounds of 7.62 ammo from another vehicle. I then remounted the crew into the scout car but the ammo was still showing as empty, the crew were showing 500 rounds of 7.62 ammo. How do I transfer the ammo from the dudes to the vehicle? Is it even possible? Thanks in advance. Regards Skimbo
  21. Nasty to think of hand to hand combat as a reality. I had my taste of an account albeit second hand from one of the guys at my work. His friend not long back fron Afghanistan had to take matters 'in hand' with an entrenching tool when he was caught short in a building in Helmand - dread to think of what that must have been like. My point is: even with todays weapons where a missile can take the 3rd exit off the roundabout do a sharp right and then take out the guy at the kebab stand, hand to hand combat will occur. It's one of the facts of war - nasty. I did like the b*tch slap noises that CMBB used to make though.) Wouldn't mind a bit of slap and tickle in CMBN. Skimbo
  22. If I may stick my size nines in on one of the areas - the one regarding allied airpower being ineffective. Correct me if I'm wrong but during the battle of the bulge wasn't one of the key critera to the success of it hinge on bad weather - thus grounding allied airpower and their abililty to stick it to the german armour moving on the roads? If allied CAS really was that pants why did the German planners fear it so? Regards Skimbo
  23. Your stuff is really quite impressive - bravo and keep them coming - I'm lapping them up! Regards Skimbo
  24. C3k Didn't follow the van but made 3 drive bys (no 'gat' - see? I am down wit' da kidz) to confirm that the wheel profile, rim and brand were the same and lo and behold they were. Would have loved to follow the van but the missus wasn't having none of it - I think she thought I would beat the cr@p out of the guy. Truth is I'm a pretty mild mannered chap and would have just wanted to have inspected the alloys when he had come to a stop as the ones that were stolen have a few distinguishing features. It could be that the individual acquired the wheels legitimately but they're not exactly common place - hence why my curiosity was piqued. If said individual has stolen the alloys then I would love to duct tape him to a chair and taser his a*s for a couple of hours.* As to chasing the perpetrator through the streets of London herein lies the problem – I live in Dorset around 120 miles from our glorious capital. Bar a cross country chase of epic proportions in a van that does 0-60 (never) and has the aerodynamic proportions of kitchen white goods it wouldn't make economical sense. However I'm not ruling it out - if our paths should cross again… (watch this space). The boring banal truth of the matter is I informed the police dude who was dealing with the case originally - furnished him with pic and as much info as I could. It now resides with Dorset's finest to come to my aid. Don't hold your breath going on last performance… Regards Skimbo
