  1. Hello folks, Well thanks to Matt I have installed the beta drivers and can at last make my TiBook earn its keep. I've run a few preliminary tests with CMBO and CMBB, and as has already been mentioned it's mostly good news I've put up some pics here of a couple of issues I have come across - neither really srtops game play thankfully. The first occurred in CMBB after an extended period of sleep. When I woke the TiBook I couldn't get any unit text etc to display, escaping to the desktop had no effect and the only solution was to quit and restart - this cured the problem. The other issue concerned a few panels in CMBO - the keyboard panel and the aborting confirmation dialogues etc. These flicker severely (black and white), but only seemingly in snow, fog and night scenario. They are legible and again not too critical - more annoying if anything. I'll post any other results as I carry on playing ... err testing LS
  2. Man I'm too excited - new drivers for Christmas - ahhhrggh - gotta go run around the house a bit and wake up the neighbours - too much!   Sorry guys - I'd given up on this and gone and bought CMAK for PC - hell is this just a ploy to get me to buy two copies!! - I don't actually care. What does titanium smell like when it gets really hot!!? Thanks so much Matt (Santa) LS
  3. Neither the 867MHz and 1GHz TiBooks will run CMBO, CMBB and (probably) CMAK properly. AFAIK the last PowerBook which could run these successfully was the 667MHz TiBook. None of the AluBooks will run CM for now as they cannot boot to OS9. The only way that the 867MHz and 1GHz TiBooks will run CMBO/BB/AK is with revised OS9 drivers from Apple and/or ATI. Any updates to the OSX drivers does not affect the OS9 drivers, unless explicitly stated, and so won't fix the problem. I have a 1GHz TiBook so I get the Psychedelic colours, I gave up trying to fix this minths ago. 'Tis a shame, and unlikely to get fixed LS
  4. ...get in line. Seriously: really nice work on those Panthers. They give me a reason to fire CMBO up again. And it looks like you're doing this on a Mac, too! </font>
  5. This site might be a good starting point - has some useful info and a long Biblio section as well as links to plenty of other sites - should give you plenty to be going on with. LS
  6. For Windows you can get the DivX player here The full version and various 'free' versions for Windows and Mac are available here hth LS
  7. Hi COG, Thanks for letting us know. I went to upload but the link for CMBO uploading is non-functional (could someone else verify this pls). I can log-in and see all the usual stuff and I can go through the motions of doing an upload in the CMBB area so it's not a browser issue. When you get a mo could you take a look. TIA LS
  8. As mentioned you are the dogs proverbials - thank you very much - will continue to post links there as well. Cheers LS
  9. As big thanks to everyone for the encouraging comments Urgh - I have nightmares about ambush camo patterns - really tough one to crack. The only way I found to get them roughly in proportion is to do one bmp - say the hull top - then keep that open at all times as a ref point, and magnify the other bmps to match the first bmp and then apply the dots using whatever size brush as appropriate. It will never be perfect unless you actually resize all the bmps to the same proportions, however you'd have to then rescale them back to make them reasonably manageable. This is partly why I increased the scale of some of my Panther bmps - basically allows for better/easier matching and detail. Make sense? LOL - what I need is a benefactor with big pockets! Went over to Gautrek's site but he doesn't have a CMBO section yet so I suggested he puts up a list for BO and then I can post some links there. Of course I will post links when I get these babies ported to BB and AK - thanks for the tip. Cheers LS
  10. Great idea gautrek, however I went over to your forum to post a note about my CMBO Panther mods (download links here ) and  no CMBO list. I know BO is less popular these days but there are still plenty who play it and I'm sure they'd really appreciate your lists - maybe just a single list is enough for BO Cheers LS
  11. Hi Dressler, Yeah - I use a gaussian blur for sprayed jobs - sometimes it's also useful to add a bit of noise to the spray layer just to give it a slightly rougher finish, how much depends on the scale of the bmp and how rough you want to go. Also it's quite difficult to get the proportions the same across the various differently scaled/distorted bmps. BTW I use PhotoShop to make my mods, not familiar with PSP, but I can see from your comments that it is pretty similar and also the couple of Tutorials I've seen seem to work pretty well for both apps. I just wish soemone would pay me loadsa $$££$$££ to do this modding then I could do it full time and give up the day job Cheers LS
  12. Oh yes I'll be doing them pretty soon although I will have to do some major reworks to get the bmp's to fit the Ost Panthers. Testing will get under way in the next few weeks. Unfortunately it's not a simple conversion and there are like 5!! variations to do! Still I'm hoping that the Ost Panthers will at least work pretty much out-of-the-box as il Panthera di Roma when CMAK is released. Cheers LS
  13. You say that Mike held down the power button to force shut down the PB - he could have caused some problem with the PMU doing this and a boot CD may not help. I would try a couple of things before going to find a friendly local Mac guru: a) simply remove the battery and put it back in after a few minutes reset the PMU - this varies from PB to PB but for PowerBook G4 (DVI) and PowerBook G4 (1 GHz/867 MHz) 1. If the computer is on, turn it off. 2. Disengage the two keyboard latches located between the Esc and F1 keys, and the F11 and F12 keys. (You may also need to disengage the keyboard locking screw located between the F5 and F6 keys.) 3. Lift the keyboard. Note: To ensure no harmful static electricity is transferred to the computer, properly ground yourself before performing this procedure. 4. Press and release the reset button located on the upper right side of the logic board just lef of the power button. It's a small silver button on the green board accessed through a hole in the case frame. 5. Wait 5 seconds. 6. Press the power button to restart the computer. PowerBook G4 and PowerBook G4 (Gigabit Ethernet) 1. If the computer is on, turn it off. 2. Press and release the reset button located on the rear panel of the computer between the external video and modem ports. 3. Wait 5 seconds. 4. Press the Power button to restart the computer. This may cause the clock etc to reset but has no bad side effects otherwise. The Apple site has more info here If this works he should back up his critical stuff asap. I had a problem recently with my PB not booting and it resulted in a logic board failure which I think had something to do with the PMU. Hope Mike gets some success with this. Cheers LS
  14. Okay folks I promise this is the last 'A' mod (well maybe not - got to do winter yet ). This time it's a rough tri-colour version with optional markings for 12th SS Panzer Div: Some more snaps here As CMMODS is still not quite back on it's feet I've made a temporary download page - it's not ideal but it's better than nothing. The new one is called 'Tri-colour rough'. All of my other mods are available there as well in case you missed them. From my previous Panther A announcement a couple of you had suggestions/questions that I forgot to reply to - so: Dressler said: Don't mind at all Okay for these mods (the A's) green is 67, 93, 49 and red is 133, 61, 55 - they are on individual layers set to multiply at 75-85%. The % changes between mods depending on how much colour is used and blurring etc. Also I sometimes tweak the colours for different tones - the G 'late' tri-colour has a much more grey green. I do this using a hue/saturation adjustment layer. What needs to be kept in mind is the effect of other layers on the colours - zimmerit, dirt, rust etc all impact the basic colours usually muting them gradually. The only real explanation is to look at the layered files, but they are anything from 2 - 10 mb a piece so I can't upload them without eating up my web-space. Maybe one day I'll do a tutorial. leakyD said I tend to agree with you on this one leaky. I think the 'raw' track just lends extra weight and definition to the overall look. I will patch this one at some point as an option - sorry MikeT From various photos I've looked at it seems that the crews painted the spare tracks sometimes, but I guess it would depend on how much time they had, and how much track they used for repairs. Cheers LS
  15. Err, for a more balanced view - ranks and all - of Barkmann try here and this also this and not forgetting my favourite LS
  16. Okay folks - here's my first tri-colour A: Has optional markings for 9th Panzer Div in Normandy. Starting on the second tri-colour variation next. Enjoy LS
  17. Thanks again guys. The latest version is nearly ready - expect to see in over the next day or two, just got to tweak the markings a bit and write the read-me. I couldn't help it - I started to play BO again after a long spell with BB and went on a massive mod shopping trip. I'd started a Panther mod ages ago and was never happy with it, so I thought I'd give it another spin, can't seem to stop now! Mine were only really to suit my taste as well originally, happy that all you folks like them too. No - I did a winter version of KwazyDog's Tiger which is at cmmods, but I hadn't planned any more Tigers for BO, I might to one or two for BB, but it's not on my immediate agenda, the Panthers have to be converted first. What I could do with are a few extra hands and a 28hr day! Cheers LS
  18. Thanks for all your comments guys - very gratifying To answer some of the requests: At present I'm working on a tri-colour version of the 'A' - should be ready in a week or so - here's a preview, note it's not yet weathered etc but gives an idea of where it's headed Once that's completed I will probably do a second tri-colour version for the 'A'. To follow this I'm doing a couple of extra optional schurtzen bmps - missing panel etc. Then I want to do one more variation for the 'G' with a very specific scheme for 1st SS Panzer Div LSSAH (duh not 12th SS - edited - not really with it) In the distance: I want to convert all my Panthers to CMBB - not a simple job as the bmps are different I'd also like to mod the JagdPanther for CMBO and do a couple of winter Panthers. I'd also like to do a new Tiger I - although I still think KwazyDog's Tiger is the dogs ... Heck at the end of the day I'd love to mod everything - in my dreams and not in my lifetime! Cheers for now LS [ September 27, 2003, 09:03 AM: Message edited by: Lucky_Strike ]
  19. ... at the usual place For all you dedicated CM:BO fans I've now completed the first of my Panther A mods - the dunkelgelb version. Here's a peek: A few more images are available here Hope you all enjoy it Cheers LS
  20. Thanks for the comments guys - always appreciated Kind of a story behind the hasty turret numbers - I didn't include it in the read-me as I can't verify it and also 'cos the markings are to an extent fictional: From what I discovered about the 17th SS Panzer Grenadier Division 'Götz von Berlichingen' (GvB) it seems that for most of the time it didn't have any panzers but instead relied on Stugs for armoured support, however in late December 1944, whilst preparing for the Nordwind offensive, it was strengthened with 57 new Stugs, a Nebelwerfer unit, a Jagtiger battalion (!) from the XIII SS Armeekorps, and a Panther company detatched from remnants of 21st Panzer Division - probably not more than 17 Panthers. GvB was perhaps the most heavily armed unit of the XIII SS Armeekorps, at the launch of Nordwind, and its Panthers most likely stayed with them after the failure of the operation until destroyed. GvB was one of the lesser known Waffen SS divisions and there seems to be little documentation so unit strengths and armaments are not easily found. I do like these little snippets of history - if anyone else can shed light of this I'd welcome your input. LS
  21. Thanks for the tip Heinz - as you'll see from the latest snaps I took your advice Posted on cmmods more pics here Yes, yes I will do these for CMBB messers Warmaker and Jester - these things take time you know and what with MikeT wanting his 'foliage' edition I don't know which to do next  TeHe - actually I'm gonna do the CMBO A next and start researching the D for CMBB as I figure that'll be the hardest of the CMBB variants. Watch this space LS
  22. Sounds like a challenge to me I'll have to see what I can do once I've got VJ's order outta the way The tri-colour G Late is moving on, and hopefully should be quite quick - so long as I can get the joins in the pattern to work easily.
  23. Well just for you 'cos you asked so sweetly here's a preview ... It's on the cards. Cheers LS
  24. Hi all, Just uploaded on cmmods the first version - dunkelgelb - of my Panther G Late mod. a few extra screenies here and one for all you lazy folk This one was based substantially on my G variant. I'll be doing a camo version asap. MikeT - I had a think about your suggestion in the previous thread re: doing a version with appliqué foliage - I think I'll skip it for now since the 3D aspect of it doesn't really convince me from the examples I've seen in the past. It would be ideal in the historical context as you correctly point out. Maybe someone else would like to have a go at it Cheers LS
