  1. Thanks for the reply Hubert.

    Now the next question:

I notice that the mini map does not recognize the color switch. I searched for a second national colors bitmap for the mini map, in the interface and bitmap folder, but could not find one. Is there a way to have the mini map correspond to the main one? It's basically an aesthetic issue so not terribly important if I'm unable to......

  2. There is no reason to delete this thread as you offered an opinion and there is nothing wrong with that. I can think of a few games where modders or scenario designers contributed excellent enhancements without financial reward...HOI I&II would have failed big time if it were not for the efforts of modders. While I'm not a big fan of the game itself, you have to admire the work the HOI gaming community puts into the product. Steel Panthers and The Operational Art of War are two old chestnuts which have continued to flourish due to scenario designers. Even Panzer General 2 has a large modding community which keeps this fine game afloat (though I'm still a nostalgic fan of PG1). So while a stipend is an interesting thought, it is nice that some things in life can still be for free....

  3. This may never happen to anyone here but while doing alot of work on my Russian Civil War map, a pop up suddenly appeared saying:

    Direct X failed

To my dismay, the editor program closed and all the work for that session, lost.

I should have known better, because anything can happen, such as a power failure or hiccup which would shut down my pc.

Sometimes you get so involved with what you are doing that you forget the simple things!

  4. For the Russian Civil War mod, I would like to use either the Enginneer or Para units to create a Garrison Unit...However, these units are not allowed to move as their sole purpose is to defend cities....I cannot reduce the Action Points below 1 so I wondered if it would be possible in an update if a unit can have 0 action points....As long as this does not mess up their ability to defend, entrench ect, then this would work, otherwise a house rule would need to be applied..

  5. I have finally found alittle spare time to start my Russian Civil War mod, so forgive my ignorance as I will be asking some stupid questions over the next few weeks.

According to the instructions, if you right click on selected tiles you can access a menu which will allow you to name the item. Does this apply to cities as well for all that comes up is the ability to set the owner?

Is there a different method for naming newly placed cities on a map?

    OUCH!

I remember when Frank had his ADANAC site that he wrote of his disinterest in coding a competent AI...He felt that the AI was only to be used for practice and testing your HtoH strategies and believed that the strength of the game was to be PBEM...I know you cannot violate the NDA so will not comment, but I would hazard a guess that the AI needs alot of work, but never thought it would be that long...OUCH! again.....

  7. I think 20% is too high since historically the Germans went into the Ukraine as conquerers, not liberators. Had the Germans been smart, they would have had a valuable ally in the Ukrainians, but instead chose to treat them as one of the untermensch..for an a-historical "what if" I would put it at 5% and then be pleasantly surprised if it was ever triggered...

  8. I was also refering to an ingame mp3 ability as well when I mention a repitious bore, and here is why...unless the program has some random function, you will always hear the same piece in tha same order. In HOI for example, you can add tracks to their Mp3 folder but every time you start up the game, you hear the same thing, unless you go through the task of deleting/downloading new music all the time.

But as mentioned by another, you can run for example, Windows media player in the background providing you have enough processor speed and RAM ( which most machines now do) to handle multitasking the game and the player, otherwise you might experience a lag while playing...
