  1. Hm, Tom's site works fine for me. As long as I don't download more than 1 mod at a time I am alright, and I've downloaded all of Mr Noobie's mods.
  2. The German CDV version cannot set up email QB games - the US version refuses to read them. Have the US version set up the game and you should be just fine.
  3. Let me know if it did, I will send a BMP instead, then.
  4. On its way. I noticed late that the "original" screen you asked for was accidentally saved by me in jpg format, but I assume you can convert it to bmp? Sorry for the screw-up.
  5. Oops, sorry, kump, going out tonight (gotta rush to work). Can you handle ACE files? I'm afraid I didn't back up the first screen, but I still have a jpg of it, so I can recreate it. And maybe I'll do one or two screens more (thinking of a "Soviet Victory" one).
  6. VJ: I'll try the suggestions, but I doubt I'd get to them before the weekend. Kump: Yep, that sounds a wee bit easier.
  7. I was thinking it would work like this: (Splash screens are in c:\splash) Copy Splash1 from c:\splash to c:\cmbb\bmp Rename Splash2 to Splash1 Rename Splash3 to Splash2 ... Rename Splash(n) to Splash(n-1) Copy Splash from c:\cmbb\bmp to c:\splash as splash(n)
  8. I'm aware of the "Go Back" button, but it's the same BMP in scenario selection and MP gaming but in different locations, so copying from the splash bitmap doesn't quite work. To keep the look coherent (a bit) I therefore skipped the "Continue" button for the scenario selection, too.
  9. Ok, everyone who requested the Splash, I sent the mail out. To anyone else interested... be sure to keep an eye on Tom's CM HQ. [EDIT]: This batch file thingy sounds rather easy. Just a collection of copy/rename commands, I assume? [ October 21, 2002, 12:39 PM: Message edited by: Sytass ]
  10. Patience, grasshoppers. I'll mail it out tonight when I'm back from work (time's always short in the mornings).
  11. Look wonderful - have downloaded and installed them.
  12. Mail on its way. I hope your account can handle files larger than 2 MB.
  13. Sig, no, I had a different splash up, which featured the photo of a German Uffz. Blackhorse: If you tell me where I could upload....
  14. I'm still thinking about what to do with the "Go Back" button, but aside from that the 1024x768 version is done. Cpt. Foobar, is this what you had in mind for a "map splashg screen"?
  15. Thanks. The buttons are more visible in 1024x768 (screen is 800x600). And they turn the brighter shade of the titles when hovering over them.
  16. Ok, here's the second one with new buttons matching it (currently only in 1024x768). I replaced the main menu buttons and the multiplayer buttons - except the "Go Back" button which is used in both scenario selection and multiplayer menu in different locations, so I am not sure what to do about that one... [EDIT]: Oh, and the buttons do light up when hovering over them. [ October 20, 2002, 03:02 AM: Message edited by: Sytass ]
  17. Klump, I got your mails, and I will start working later today. Thanks a lot! Cpt. Foobar, I was thinking about doing something like that. I would much prefer using an original map with handwritten symbols etc. as I think adding those with a graphics program would make it look too artificial. The map I've used for the background is, btw, a Soviet map of Stalingrad from 1937. The town is on the bottom left corner (which is why it's not seen in the second screen.
  18. kump, I know what kind of process you mean - actually, not too difficult. All you need is take the buttons, make the brownish background transparent and put the appropriate part of the splash screen behind it. Thanks for the suggestion. I will make those changes tomorrow. I'll gladly release the latter to the public, I am just not sure where to host it. I do have some personal webspace where I host my Europa Universalis 2 AARs, but a) I'm running out of space slowly I'm not sure what sort of a bandwidth limit I have. [EDIT]: I just realized that, after all, the buttons in my game are in German.... so maybe someone could provide me with the English buttons or at least with the text on the buttons, including multiplayer, (in that case I might make custom buttons). 19. Alright, I edited around a bit more and have come to a result that I like a lot better than the previous. The only problem is that the lower tanks are usually behind the four buttons of the main menu. [EDIT]: Here used to be the raw version of my splash screen. See the screen below, it's the same. 20. Thanks for the nice comments. I am not sure who that German soldier is, I found the picture on one of the countless WW2 sites.
  21. Ok, let me edit this one out to save on the loading time - that screen was obsolete, anyways. [ October 20, 2002, 02:59 AM: Message edited by: Sytass ]
  22. I wasn't sure if this belonged into tech or general discussion, so please bear with me if I am in the wrong place with this post. I have the German version of CMBB. I'm currently engaged in several PBEM games, and I know there are issues between the versions (e.g. the German version cannot initiate a PBEM game against the US version, but it works vice versa). I've so far played only against German opponents in IP battles, and before I attempt playing an IP game against someone having the US version I'd like to know if there are issues to mind in those cases.
  23. How am I supposed to take a review serious that is filled with orthographical glitches that an editor should have sorted out? Oh, and I will say naught of my opinion of Sudden Strike 2, except that much: the first part and its expansion with a FAN MADE(!) realism mod was a whole lot of more fun....
