  1. I made a mistake in the above post it said the Tangier area was axis 40%, still can't I invade that area? Willy
  2. I tried to invade Tangier and the nine tiles near it in 1942 but the computer would not allow me to invade or move my troops from Casablanca to the Tangier area, it said the area was axis controlled, if this was talked about in the forums I missed it, is there something I am doing wrong? I did not see a place to declare war on the war map, how do I move into that area? P.S. The AI seems to be getting better, thanks gentlemen. Willy
  3. I apoligized for my comments Normal Dude on my post today. With that said I have an AI question for you. At the moment the game is at least 80% land warfare this will change if the modders do the Pacific theater. I am not a naval player but sometime it has to be used [the navy] for invasions and such. Because carriers and battleships cost more than five times a corp more care should be taken of them in the game. I would like to know if this is possible 1-have the naval fleets attack the transport ships and destroy the military units before they land not attack other naval ships that are nearby.[critical when axis attack the US.] 2-Why can't the computer [AI] caculate naval attack this way. When the AI goes to attack an enemy fleet say 6 hex'es away it caculates the other enemy fleets in range and their power of retalition against the AI, if the loss of the AI,s fleet is much greater than the enemy fleet don't let the AI do it. 3-Carriers are way to weak in this game, make an attacking unit pay dearly for attacking a carrier group, also carrier planes pack very little punch for the risk at stake. If this is in a wrong forum please let me know, and if my suggestions are off the wall please tell me. Willy
  4. Rolend I stand corrected and will not put any more negative comments on the forums, I am not a rude person I just had to many expectations for this game and I was disappointed and I took it out on the playtesters and I will take a more civil tone on the forums in the future. Willy
  5. Thank you Normal Dude I will appreciate anything you and Edwin will do I am sure of that. Maybe I was a little rough on the playtesters, but only because I was hoping that this would be a great game not only in graphics but in playability not only against a human but against the computer, but Blashy's comment about it was only 3 weeks to go when the AI was implemented is not my problem, more time should have been allowed to fix the glaring errors, maybe the little ones could have been fixed later. I believe that the pushing to have this game released asap by the players on the forums and SC1 players caused some of this. I am a dedicated COD2 player and I guess I was hoping to have a game wean me off COD2 and it did not happen. I will do no more negative comments out of courtesy to Hubert, and Normal Dude if you make the AI to tough and I can't win I will probably complain about that. Get to work and fix it up PLEASE! Willy
  6. Oh my. Where to start? Willy, your complaints appear directed against the AI, which was the last thing to be implemented. Frankly, we did not have weeks on end to thoroughly playtest the AI and fine-tune it into a work of brilliance. Even if Hubert had delayed SC2 release for a couple more months, I doubt it would still meet your lofty expectations for playing against a machine rather than a live opponent. As it was, we playtested to verify things worked. Not that they all worked to perfection, but that most everything was functional. You may complain if you wish, but at least you and everyone else has a fun game in hand today to complain about, rather than checking here every day to see when SC2 might be released as a v1.0 with a "perfect" AI. </font>
  7. This is the last time I will post and I know that will make you happy unless something is done right away with the AI, where were the playtesters in this farce, I invaded Canada and the Boston area with an overwhelming force and was moving to attack New York and guess what the allied armies started to do around Washington? They boarded troop ships and headed for England to invade. I continued my march on Washington and they landed in England with 4 armies and 6 more coming, in the meantime the american navy was attacking my warships instead of my very vulnerable troop ships, If you playtesters are offended by my comments you should be, you did not do what was required of you which was to straighten out this mess before it cost us stupid people money. Most players found terrible botches in hours what you looked at for weeks and didn't see, seriously shame on you and shame on us for buying this so called game. Willy
  8. When my troops landed in England I could not supply them until I landed a HQ unit. When the American troops landed in England while I had troops there [axis]they were able to rebuild and resupply with no HQ unit without a bit of trouble, how come? Also 7 allied air units sat in Iceland for at least two years, please the AI needs a major overhaul. Willy
  9. Played as the Axis with the new patch, found out the AI for the allies has to be beefed up, four american units landed at algiers without a HQ unit in 1942, they did nothing for 1 year but sit there, after the Italian army[?] [who] defeated by themselves first the British in all of north Africa [that should not happen in my estimation] they defeated the 4 american units pretty easy, to me that's a nono. Some people worry about a cetain name not being right in the game, boy really important, you ought to worry about the AI being redone instead. It is my opinion that no one can do a good AI, NO ONE! Okay got that out of my system, I would like to know what settings you use against the Axis AI or the Allied AI, I mean all of your settings from top to bottom. Even some scripts that could help the AI. Thank you for any help I can get. Willy
  10. Hubert as you know the new patch does make the allies slightly more aggressive in invasions, taking Algiers in early 42 with 4 units none of them headquarters, there they sat for a whole year never made a move. Defeated them easily with 5 Italian units in late 43 possibly because the allies supply was very low, Italy couldn't beat Albania or anybody else what goes? The Italians also defeated the British africa troops without any problems, Can't this be corrected? Played the game 100% expert no FOW, no computer bonus points. Willy
  11. Sure does Hubert, appreciate you getting right back to me, they say you are a man who stands behind his programing and you sure proved that to me today, thanks again Hubert. Willy
  12. Hubert I apoligize for the above reply without really testing the patch. My comment was based on everything before the patch and I read the fixes carefully and saw no mention of the d-day fix. I have applied the patch and was checking other fixes and have not got that far yet[d-day] So if I spoke out of turn forgive me, I am referring to the campaign game not the stand alone D-day scenario. Willy
  13. Thank the lord someone know this game is not right and are trying to do something about it. My question is 90% of these fixes never seemed to crop up on my computer, crashes ectra. Not one word, unless I missed it about the allies invasion of Europe as the AI. I cant get them to invade even if I leave two units in all of France thru 1944, I have tested this and they don't move, is there something I am doing wrong? I don't touch the scripts or is there something there that would help the AI to invade France? Does FOW or no FOW have anything to do with the invasion? Willy
  14. Best comment I have seen on these forums vveedd, it will never happen, I have the board game Advanced 3rd Reich, and Talon soft tried to do it and screwed it up from here to 5th and Gipip[old saying for lousy]The AI was horrible, and I am firmly convinced after all these years that no one can do the AI right, not being mean but this AI is poor and everyone here knows it, I do not have the time to play e-mail games with other members here, I need a game that can do what they have done with chess AI, I realize the area's in chess are much smaller than in SC2, but somebody had to program the AI why not ask them how to do SC2. Willy
  15. Desert Dave has anyone reported this as a bug? If they have then I should not have brought it up, it is no big deal if it gets fixed or not I just saw something that did not look right and mentioned it to let players know it exsists.
  16. Retributar thanks for answering my post, but what has attacking Turkey have to do with anything, not being smart but if I wan't to attack Turkey thats that, I am telling you Turkey used Russia's mps to reinforce herself, if you only attacked Turkey once how do you know this is not a bug. A popup said Russia Surrendered, there was only one russian unit left on the map when she surrendered but Russia continued to get mp's under her name not Germany's column for mp's. I don't have this game saved because I did not notice for at least a couple of moves and did not worry about it because it did not matter being it is so easy to defeat the computer on any setting. Just mentioning this possible bug do not care whether you fix it or not. The game's AI must be fixed or the game is useless and I don't have time for e-mail playing. Bill Bowen
  17. In 1943 Russian surrendered, but she kept her MP's, and when I attacked Turkey, Russia's MP's were used to reinforce damaged Turkish units, not complaing but is this correct or is it a bug? Thank you BowenW
  18. Sorry guys guess I jumped the gun here so to speak, every comment made a lot of sense to me, I have been so addicted to call of duty 2 I was looking for a quick fix to sorta wean me off of Cod2. I was a Third Reich boardgame enthusiast and when they made it into a computer game I was thrilled but that did not last long as the AI was disgraceful and the game went quickly down the tubes, There is a game on the matrix drawing board, I think it is called world at war, and it covers the pacific too, it is division level but guess what if the AI is no good then I will give up on these programers. Hopefully SC2 will get itself fixed up either by the games programers or by you modders, I don't have the time for playing the game by e-mail so I count on the AI's to be my opponet, again I appoligize for my comment's. 19. john difool okay I will tone it down, where is that thread, I read somwhere they are working on it, my question is working on what the playtesters should have caught it a long time ago. OOOPS don't wan't to be negative ai have plenty of money to through away. sorry please tell me it will be all right in the first patch?
  20. It is now August 1944 and the allies sit in England picking their noses, is anybody ever and I mean ever get one of these games right, need a patch already where are the play testers, most of us find problems in the first game, good lord the 5 year old Panzer general had a better AI than this one, I surrender, what a waste of money.
