Hi Hubert this was waw 1939 by battlefront with 104 patch. my subs were completley surronded by axis ships italian and german in the english channel, playing fog, I was sorta stunned when an uk destroyer stopped by a battleship and then fired two hex'S, past the battleship in the first hex and the sub was in the next hex, also caused some damage. If you need more information I do not know what to tell you. Willy
  2. downloaded the new update 104, notice several things that may be correct or incorrect 1-the color of the tiles remain neutral when units move to another area axis or allies. 2-allied destroyers fired at my subs from two tiles away when they were completely blocked from moving next to my subs. willy

Used the editor for the first time, changing Honch's artillery from range one to a range two, he was going to do that anyhow, worked fine, to you editor pros "yeah so what" to me a computer nerd [dumbkoff]I produced a miracle. I added land hexes to Wake, Midway, Oahu islands in Sami's waw global mod, the idea being to make possible the invasion of these islands by Japanese forces and vice versa I placed land hex's on some of the Japanese islands so the U.S. could invade by sea. My question is why didn't you modders do that? Maybe not feasible. Even though the size proportion might not be to accurate[it isn't] I think for game play it would be acceptable. The problem with this for me anyway is how do you tell the American forces to take advantage of a bigger Oahu and place strong forces there as the AI. Any pros or cons about this and can't Hubert put this into the global mod [bigger islands] that they are working on? Willy
  4. I do a lot of play testing besides playing the game. Two things must change in waw add on or global or whatever, supply and zones of control must be implemented or this game for me is through. I watched closely in global war and watched an all out attack by the Japanese on Wake island, boy what a joke, attack after attack by six battleships and six aircraft carriers could hardly dent the island and its American fighter plane on it, the fighter had an attack of 7 which was after many attacks reduced to 1, lo and behold it was replenished to a 7, no wonder the japs lost the war, they let supply ships slip thru I guess from Pearl, This must be corrected and some sort of ZOC's have to be implemented before the next patch or I personally have to find another game to play.   5. Honch I mentioned ZOC's for waw global is this a nono because of the scale of waw. And I still believe that a unit that is surrounded even on a seaside hex with combat units and powerful naval forces adjacent cannot be resupplied, for goodness sake can't we have a little realism once in a while? Honch I agree with everything you are saying in your post, adding from my view point that two of the most important rules that can be implemented into a good game are zones of control and resupply into places that really can't happen in reality [i know just a game] Maybe WAW is too vast to implement those kind of rules I will let smarter people than I am figure that one out. I have read and reread the rules and studied the maps of WIF and they are quite good, this is a game at least three years in the making with maybe another year to go. These are two entirely different games to me, one is a great beer and pretzels game [WAW, not a dig] and the other is a very deep and complicated game that may be too hard for the average player meaning me, some of the greatest board games ever made sit on the shelf gathering dust because they are superbly done but are too difficult to play. Hubert I am not sure I know how to do that, when I start the game it loads as beta0_1 and the game plays well as the Japanese but when I go to save the game it saves as beta2, and when I go to load saved game a pop up tells me it cant find beta2 and cannot load the custon part of the mod which means the Japanese now become the French forces,as for this [save as] comment I have not done anything different than all the other mods I have downloaded which all play well. Not being argumenative I just want it to play right. Bill

  10. I am playing your global mod and it plays well until I save the game and go to play it later, all the Japanese forces become French forces. When I go to load the game a caption tells me it cant find the custom mod named beta2 and must load it without the custom functions, also it puts a beta2 on the end of your mod name when saved instead of the beta1 that I have listed in my campaigns.   12. Late 2007 Hubert said they would work on a waw global game that would be an add on and possibly be released in April 2008, I thought great that would be right up my alley. Then came this Patton thing that I am not interested in, and some comments on the forum where who is going to make waw global? Huberts busy with Patton, WHAT GOES! I know another member has put one on the combat mission data base mods but I want it done by Huberts people and to redo the whole thing to make invasions possible in the pacific war on the tiny islands, with World in Flames coming soon by Matrix somebody better get on the stick and at least tell me what is going on with waw global, if I have missed this forum about this[waw global] than I apoligize.   14. Powergmbh again congrats on your 3rd Reich mod, I have been a fan of that great board game for years. When I posted about zoom it was in referrence to having an island invasion having a little room to manuver. A pop-up would be fine or some kind of an inset inside the main Pacific war, I dont know if it is feasible but when you attack an island you are moved to a side bar of some kind and you attack the island with say several marine units. The way it is now including Malta it is to me unplayable to a point. I find some of the outcomes of the entrenched units in fortified cities or island garrisons or whatever are totally wrong when an inexperienced unit with little supply and bad low morale can hold out aginst 4 or 5 air units plus ground forces for 4 or 5 turns or more. All I was saying was please make the islands bigger during the attack against them or to me the Pacific war won't work. Willy

I would like to see in the next patch something done about anti-aircraft fire, comments about planes being too powerful are valid in my opinion and I believe that a change in the AA would be a major help. Investing in AA units and building up their firepower is not a good investment when they only can fire only once a round, allow them to fire everytime when a defending unit is within their range or to protect themselves each time, I believe the attacker might think twice before committing other attacks over and over against the same unit, I know you can say the same thing about ships, artillery and other units but I believe this would curtail some of the damage done by high graded and very experienced planes, also I dont know if this is deliberate or a bug but when I have artillery in a coastal city hex of France and the allies land during an amphibious operation and they attack another unit or the artillery unit itself there is no return fire or preventive fire from the artillery piece. Hubert, comments in posts are heating up around here, if you read the post started by Kuniworth you have to realize this is your fault for giving us a much better game in WAW than in SC2, you have wetted the appetites of the gamers, they are not truly happy yet but they are starting to think [what if?] I am not a programmer and I dont know what problems you face so if I am asking too much tell me so. I am assuming [hah] that the global campaign you are working on will be a stand alone add on for a fee. As much as I am looking forward to this endeavor, if it is a straight port using the WAW engine players will not be happy [including me] The Pacific Zone will be the focus of the global game for me because I am tiring of the European war and need a major diversion to go along with the Europran war. I believe the programmers have to produce some things they have never done before, one of those things is to do with the invasions of islands, the way it is now dont even bother making a global game in my opinion. I would like to see when an invasion is started on any island in the Pacific a pop up of the island occurs and the island becomes much larger and then real landings can occur or you need to install a zoom feature to do the same thing as a pop feature. I believe this can be done and done right and I would pay accordingly for these added features. So come on Hubert make your programmers dig deep and come up with something unique to your war games, like maybe stacking of units or several units combining their firepower into one resolution PLEASE!   17. You gentlemen are a lot smarter than I am about what is needed or what you would like to see in SC3 or the global campaign. I agree with another post about stacking, or several units could attack at the same time all lending their firepower into one resolution. What I think would be extremely important in the global campaign especially in the Pacific [if possible] is when you attack an island with enemy troops on it an inset would come onto the screen making the island much larger and be like a mini campaign within the main global war. The way it is now and I know Hubert is working on the global war, is it won't work right unless you can storm the island with your marines or use any other means to take the island. The islands must be made larger or the pacific war will not work in my humble opinion. Willy
  18. Those conquests Hubert are probably going to be rare, great job on the AI. I did just beat the axis AI in late 45' But I played without FOW and deleted the script that allowed Rommel to land in North Africa. I won't do that again but I had to get my ego back on track. Lars comments were right on! I always went for troops instead of aa, at and artillery upgrades. I tried to invade Norway and the reaction of the AI was excellent in transferring troops into Norway and kicking my butt out. With FOW off the AI axis sub war is easily handled by me but with FOW on the sub war is devastating against England.[and me] Willy

Thanks Lars those suggestions were a big help, the anti-tank the artillery at plus 2 and the anti-aircraft batteries helped stem the axis push in early 43', I always went for troops but they got clobbered, now all I need is a good general to push them back to Germania! [not me that's for sure.] Willy
  20. Ok I surrender what goes here? Before WaW and the patch I used to be able to put up a decent fight for my mother Russia against the AI Germany, but now I am getting creamed by the Axis. No matter what I try, buy corps, armies first or tanks and planes first, fight at the border or back up and use the scorched earth policy, my Russian planes cant fight my tanks get destroyed without a good fight my armies are obliterated in seconds whether behind a river or not, the Italian army knocks out my best troops[did not know they were that good in WW2] I have no money to buy anything with, I have tried industrial tech. and production tech. Even if I take FOW off it does not matter, German subs now sink everything in sight early on before they even become a 2 or 3, my destroyers get clobbered even at a 1 early on. My planes could not shoot down a Spad from WW1. If there is one thing I would love to know how do you experienced players defend Russia under the new AI and how do you increase their MPP's Willy

Please excuse the pun about the weather but I have a problem with the way the weather mod works in WAW, if I play with the weather turned off I can usually defeat the Russsians by mid 1943 with fow on as the axis, if I put the weather on it takes until 1945, if ever. The other day I went from dec 1942 until may 1943 without once getting my planes into the attack HUH! Not a complaint just an observation. Surely every gamer knows it is the axis that sets the tempo of the game in the early years and the weather affects them the most,I am not saying play with the weather being turned off but can the weather mod be changed to something in between than what I am seeing? I also know that it is a blessing for the Russians so I guess that ruins my theory. Willy
  22. As an allied player my american fighter planes are at upgrade 4 playing FOW I am getting clobbered by German fighters, I do not know what upgrade they are[germans] but is their experience the difference, can it be that decisive in battle? Willy
  23. Can tactical bombers be upgraded for fire support like fighters? I know they can be upgraded for range. I see nothing that allows me to do this. Willy
