  1. Yes, I've read through your linked site before and on another page at the same site: http://www.battlefield.ru/t34_76_3.html It states what the German's thought of the T-34: "On 26 May 1942 the General der Schnellen Truppen beim Oberkommando des Heeres distributed the following "Instructions to units on the Eastern Front for Combating the Russian T-34 Tank with our Panzers:" "Combating the T-34 with the 5 cm KwK tank gun is possible only at short ranges from the flank or rear"....."the 5 cm KwK can only be expected to penetrate the flanks of the T34 at short range" This, however, is not what I was seeing in the Kalinin Raid scenario. Great site, by the way. Carl
  2. Yeah, well try the CCBB scenario Jaegermeister and find out how "Uber" the big German cats are.
  3. Hey, I found similar weaknesses in the T-34. In a game scenario placed in 1941 I found the T-34s were being beaten by the German Pz 3s and 4s tanks, face to face close up and at some distance, 600 meters. I've read many accounts from the war and in 1941 only a lucky hit or a hit close from the side or rear were the then German tanks able to take out a T-34. Something in the game modeling of the T-34 is wrong, because the results just aren't historical. Spoiler************************************** * * * * * * * * Try Kalinin Road in 1941 as Russian and watch your T-34s be knocked out by the 1941 German tanks. In it the German tanks are more than a match for the T-34s, and that is not historical for that time period.
  4. I was reading another thread in which Eden Smallwood posted this: quote: _________________________________________________ I played Citadel a hundred times with Partial. Then when I saw everyone in this forum ranting about EFOW, I changed to EFOW. I'll tell you something nobody else seems to have noticed- it's EASIER to beat the AI with EFOW than with Partial. Notice that part of what this implies is the the AI plays a "fair" game- it's EFOW for you, it's EFOW for AI. I think that fogginess makes it more difficult for the AI to "guess" the right thing... I guess. _________________________________________________ Now, I'm wondering could this be true. This deserves further discussion. Thanks Eden for bringing this to our attention
  5. I couldn't get the above link to the picture to work, the site is down. But I found a pic at a private site of a person who visited the Patton museum: http://www.ssbauer.com/scott/pics/patton/full/at_weap.jpg I'm very interested in this device after my tank hunters use it to take out a KV-2 with ease.
  6. I've been having the same problem with trees and I really like the solution mentioned by jgdpzr: Transparent Trees
  7. Ok Ok, I'm not saying that it was not possible for the 1941 German tanks to knock out a T-34, amazingly the same article states that 4.7% of T-34s in that time period were loss due to 20 mm rounds. So it is possible, but is it probable that face to face with the German tanks that the T-34s should repeatedly get punched out in duels in Kalinin Road? I say no, since all the history sources seem to indicate the extreme difficulty in killing the T-34s, except at close range and from the sides or rear. Not saying it couldn't happen, just saying it was way too easy in Kalinin Road. That means the modeling in the game is off, or the German tankers just had an incredible string of lucky hits, that is frontal penetrating hits, not just ones that jammed the turret rings. Anyone else out there playing the 1941 scenarios seeing the same thing?
  8. Ack! I just opened the 'Scenario Editor' in the main screen for the first time and changed the file turns, it was easy. Sorry, I just didn't think of it because I never intended to make up my own scenarios. This importing of a saved file into a 'quick battle', I tried that and couldn't get what I wanted, is that explained in the manual in the editing section? I could import the file, but I couldn't exit without buying equipment and the battle started at the set up, not where I left off. However, it did have the right map. So, is it possible to continue to play a saved game from, say turn 25, with the same units and in the same positions as at the time of the save? Basically to extend the turns of a saved game, so that I can continue to play it after the finish?
  9. Thanks Cameroon, How do I edit the original scenarios to have a longer turn limit. I go to the files and they are just a bunch of code.
  10. Is there a way to keep playing a scenario after it ends or to change the number of turns in the scenario file before the game begins? It would be nice to have a button to keep playing after the end, as Sid Meier's Gettysburg! had.
  11. Bastables, Yes, I've read through your linked site before and in it it states: "On 26 May 1942 the General der Schnellen Truppen beim Oberkommando des Heeres distributed the following "Instructions to units on the Eastern Front for Combating the Russian T-34 Tank with our Panzers:" "Combating the T-34 with the 5 cm KwK tank gun is possible only at short ranges from the flank or rear"....."the 5 cm KwK can only be expected to penetrate the flanks of the T34 at short range" This, however, is not what I was seeing in the Kalinin Raid scenario. Great link, by the way.
  12. What's up with these T-34 M41s in Kalinin Raid? I just played as Russian and the T-34's are getting smoked by the Panzer IIIs and IVs, head to head, close up and at distance, 600+ meters. The T-34's are being penetrated through the frontal armor by the German tanks, not just scarred off or hit by the German towed guns. In 1941, according to what I have read about the war, the T-34s were not vulnerable to the German tank guns, except for a lucky hit or two. Now, I know the optics and hit ratings are better for the Germans, but still it is about an even fight or worse for the T-34s against the German tanks. Any thoughts?
  13. Hi, What's the difference between high and low resolution?
