Yea! CMMOds is back up! I have some time today so I'll be playing all kinds of mods like mad. I'm confused though. You posted it under Perman? Or Perman posted for you at CMMods?
  2. My first day where I can finally sit down, take my time, and play with all your mods... and CMMODS is down! Not 5 minutes ago I deleted everything, re-installed SC2 1.04 to import/export (so I could use my own work in 1.05) and went to re-download the mods fresh... and its down!

Honch, Thrawn, Kuniworth, Normal Dude, Paintman - whoever's made fairly complete campaigns for 1.04 and 1.05 - would you mind e-mailing them to me? My e-mail is here (spelled out to avoid spam-bots)

    Thanks!

  3. Hehe... actually no side! : tongue.gif It kind of unbalances the map itself (not just visually, but time-wise, unit, and strategically). I guess I'm kinda speaking about the 4th dimension smile.gif

In the long run I'd like to see the European latitude have another hex or two added (making Europe's North-South depth wider). Europe seems so squashed, and with Africa being so huge, Europe can become a bit de-emphasized. Sorry if I'm not making any sense at all. I wish I had more time this weekend, but I'm trying to recover our house from our nieces staying over. What a mess (in fact I'm procrastinating right now). I do have to go back and re-install SC2 and 1.04 because I forgot to do the import/export trick with the editor and can't load my stuff (otheriwse I'd show you the direction I was going). I'll do that soon though. smile.gif

  4. Some of us are just slow smile.gif but you have to do mods for yourself too, not just others.

I have to admit, a long time ago I was that ornary about getting mods fast... but you learn over time to metre your time. Normal Dude, what mods are yours? I don't see any posted by Normal Dudes there. Are you Paintman? If so, fopr some bizarre reason it never ocurred to me to rate anything but scenarios... and on scenarios - I'm still figuring out a few game things myself so it's hard to rate external games (and time is short). I think a lot of people don't want to rate something until they get a good feel of it, and some don't want to play scenarios that lapse behind the current patch?

While your enthusiasm for Thrawn's mod is nice, I find it a bit tasteless to reign on someone elses parade. People do have lives outside a mod, and they have no obligation to post an update at any time. I'm just trying to offer Honch some friendly support, and it'd be nice if the some individuals had a bit more tact. It's not a competition after all.

If you wish to reduce the bitmap sizes en-masse, by the exact same % for each sprite, I would suggest doing a "select-all" and then drag the diagonal corner to reduce the size. It'll be trial and error getting the size you want, and of course you will have to re-center and re-place them, which would be easy, but time consuming, with the grid.

Oh yea... Don't know why I didn't think of doing it that way. I don['t know why, but I feel like if the units/resources (like mountains) were a bit smaller like in SC1 it'd look a bit better. But then again, in another tbs game series I loved (Age of Wonders)... once again I preferred the smaller units and smaller resources of the original vs. the fuller/tighter units of the latter series.
  7. I came across an article in CGW where the author was criticizing Pox Nora, and realized he had written something I felt also kind of applied to SC2... and why some people liked SC1's graphics better than SC2.

Here's the comment Bruce Geryk makes towards the PoxNora designers:

Guy's, when you design a map, don't make the pieces as big as the spaces. That's Elementary Rule 1 in board-game design, and since this plays out like a board game... et al

So to this end, I think I might like to try and make many of the units and resources smaller. So my questions are:

    1. Is it possible? The slow way would be to copy unit (ex. paratrooper), re-size it smaller, post it in the proper place in the blank grid provided by Paintman, repeat a thousand times...

    2. Is there a faster way to do that? Doing it one by one is going to take a long time.

    3. Is this a good idea? Does anyone else feel the units are too big for the squares they're occupying, hence making the map feel too cramped?

    4. A better solution would be to have larger map squares. That way the units wouldn't lose detail through the resizing step. But I'm guessing this could only be done through a lot of extra programming by Hubert?

    5. Has someone already done this mod and I somehow missed it?

    Thanks for the feedback! smile.gif
