  1. Arrived today in Wales and I also didn't receive a delivery email message. Mine seemed to come straight from the US as it had a US customs sticker on it. Unfortunately my DVD box was smashed up with bits broken off all over the place, badly tearing the cover and making it impossible to close the box.
  2. I had the same problem in this battle playing on Veteran difficulty. Some tanks were killed with a single shot (as usually happens in other scenarios). However several took 3 or 4 missiles to kill. IIRC the tanks that were hard to kill were usually in the middle of buildings. Maybe the missiles were close but actually missing?
  3. The lack of troops retreating is a major problem for me. Most battles in reality are won by breaking the opponents morale as much as killing his troops. Here we must kill every member of a squad to ensure that later in the game they don't get their nerve back and ambush you. SPOILER AHEAD As an example, in the first campaign, there are a number of platoons of Syria infantry outside the enterance to the base. After much pounding from my armoured vehicles they were decimated. However individual soldiers, with the rest of their squad lying around them as casualties, still pop up and fire off AK rounds. They therefore have to be wiped out before they can be bypassed. I don't believe this is even remotely realistic even if they were fanactical insurgents instead of the milita/regular force I think they were.
  4. On the Battle selection page, the description of the scenario tells you whether you should play as blue only. For the 2nd battle on the list, Al Amarah, it clearly says "play as Blue only".
  5. I know you should never put any faith in release dates given by online shops. But .... Play.com in the UK have the game down as a 27th July release.
  6. Not sure if this has been posted before but here is another, very , small bone from Armchair General magazine (September 06 issue I think). It was sent to me by a friend and this was the biggest he could get the picture. It was part of a one paragraph preview of the game which I don't think said anything new.
  7. I am interested in modern warfare so I am not disappointed at all although I am very surprised at the choice of location and scenario. I do not believe that the Syrian scenario outlined has any likelihood of happening. It is as much fiction as a new German vs France war (or at least Britain vs France anyway ). Simply from the perspective of available forces, US and Allied troops are so committed at the present (and likely long into the foreseeable future) that there would be no way they could take on another major operation. Even if they could, from a domestic political position, I do not believe the US will be able to return to the Middle East when / if the Iraq campaign is finished. In fact if you are going to simulate this kind of warfare, why not do away with the fictional story and just set the game in present day Iraq or would that be too politically and morally challenging for the audience?
  8. You've got to laugh really. All the fuss about not being able to buy the US version in Europe and now you can get the European version in North America!
  9. I buy most of my wargames from Duchet Computers and on their site, they state that CDV have delayed UK distribution until sometime in October.
