Bear in mind that it's like the Right to Bear Arms, er... if you're not American sorry, but, ah, just bear with me.
My little Mac is downsampled to poo, but with 800x600 I wasn't expecting much anyway. G3 with an ATI 128... I feel lucky just to be able to run this game.
The only mod which really looks great for me is JuJu's Definitive HakenKreuze flag. Gawd it looks great. In fact it's a bit of a problem, as the other flags now look really wimpy.

...and probably only an Assault will allow defender to dig in his vehicles?
How's this for a nutshell from defender's pov:
Assault: "We're ready."
Attack: "Here they come- quit digging, lock & load!"
Probe: "Hey! Who is that?!?!"
?

Single player? I'd like one. Steamrollers are not a problem- I use sharpshooters on the driver.

I can't say if they're the same ones or not, but there are certainly screams to be heard. Try locking yourself to a fated unit in view one- you won't hear much way up in the clouds.Originally posted by Mord:#2 I haven't noticed any screams during battle were these taken out?
What do you mean? If sewer movement is "allowed", (see your QB or SE settings), then units can move from a "heavy bldg" to another "heavy bldg" in a "large town". The command will show up in your little unit popup menu if it can be done.I have yet to see anything to do with sewers also.It takes a long time, and (apparently) is hazardous.

I only played the CMBO demo a few times; I came up with a pretty foolproof tactic as US and thence lost interest.
The same tactic failed completely and utterly in the CMBB version- in CMBO, allies had Bazooka Joe around, who could at least intimidate the heck out of axis armor if not take some out completely. In CMBB, allies have Bazooka Josef armed with the Mighty(Not) Soviet ATR, which is almost completely useless.
Valley Of Trouble part Deux is alot closer to the original, at least in my perception; CE is a whole different scenario.
Didn't Soviets have US Bazookas anyhow?

You can import your saved AAR file into a new QB, and 'Import Troops? Yes!' Their ammo will all be replenished, the dead armor will still be around... Not quite 'continuing' that battle the way you mean it, though... More like attacking the same force at Dawn, or something.Originally posted by Sitting Duck:I see. I just seem to remember reading about a way to do this. Importing the map or something?
Thanks anyway...I'll give it that a try.

You can't see the devilish little turds except in the lowest views. Bird's eye view commanders will accidentally order their armor over unseen 'rocky' tiles, with consequent immobing... A pain for those few us here over the age of 18- the choice is to get down in level one and scour the terrain everytime you want to move a tank...Originally posted by MrSpkr:What is wrong with it? I mean, it may not be the best to look at, but hell's bells, that's a useful little terrain feature for scenario design.
Steve[/QB]
Does the usefulness of them disallow you from using 'Rough' or 'Soft' or anything else in it's stead? Be the first on your block to release an officially certified 'Rocky-Free Scenario'!!

...except that this particular squad didn't want to blow *themselves* up; bold mine.Originally posted by Tigrii:A pioneer platoon fights a suppressed german squad at 10m. They are all unsuppressed and there is no reason why they shouldn't chuck.
If you experiment, I think you'll find that pios prefer to be *between* 20 and 30 meters to use their BiggenBoomen.
In re arcs, it is unfortunately the case that a unit Hiding with a Cover Arc will Unhide when an enemy enters the Arc... which is completely *distinct* from saying 'when the unit is Ready to Shoot'. In fact, they can (still, in 101), unhide even though the appearing enemy is not even in LOS.
Try and keep your Ambush-ish Arcs within LOS, in such areas which strongly imply that your unit will have a 'Good Shot' for anyone in that Arc.
For roadside ambushes on travelling vehicles, I find it helps to counterintuitively extend the arc
towards the oncoming traffic, so that the unit has a second to stand up and look around and remember what the heck his job is before the enemy has already driven off...
In re other mentions here, like 'never never' and things... In my e' they seem to do pretty well on their own; I let them make the decision to Blast or not in 'normal' combat. The exceptions are at night/fog, when multi pios can easily blow each other half way to the Zip disk, and when you're trying to Area Fire yet not use up all charges- that's a toughie.

There isn't one; search for very recent thread on just this subject. There is a Rocky Mountain 'DooDad' BMP, but it's small... others reported not much effect in trying to mod that little guy.
Sux, I know. It would be nice if scenario designers simply stripped their maps of any 'rocky' tiles. I've had it with these things. Solution for QBs: wait two years.

I didn't really care if you had; although I haven't been here forever, I've been here since CMBB, and not only do I consider this a great idea, I actually haven't seen it a million times before! Good job, Mr Bunny. CMBB really is done, though.Originally posted by UberFunBunny:If this is the first call for such an order I am very honored!
(Also, to assure, I have never posted to this forum under another name.)
I think Steve's response will be or would be that you can since 101 use Move To Contact *with* a Cover Arc to make the unit proceed along his path until a unit is inside the *Arc*. Try it! It's an open question to me at least whether that can be defeated by tough LOS circumstances like those dern trees, which as we know are symbolic only, if you know what I mean, (can't think of a better word than 'symbolic'... representative?) Anyhow that trick possibly will ameliorate many cases for you.
I do agree though that a 'Seek LOS' command would be more pleasingly isomorphic to what I imagine real life commands were...
"Faust Team; 100 meters; Approach Left; All Costs; GO!!!" (Hee. Now I'm pumped! Time for a QB!)
BTW this 'GunnyBunny' person I never knew, but apparently he was a real pain in the buttocks- the other poster I don't think meant to be rude, just suspicious/concerned/acting instinctively...

Hey B&T guys- the one problem you didn't know you had, then you knew, then you fixed it... now it's back- the thing where the "Primary Download" asks us for our *password*, et cetera. Secondary works as usual.Originally posted by Scott B:I'm happy to announce that the problems we had with our site...
Erm. *Thanks* for making scenarios available, I have to say, in light of recent posting which astoundingly revealed that consumer appreciation is not something you can take for granted.
Note to all shoppers, as long as I'm already posting; these are all listed as "Multiplayer" best play, except for _Ghetto_, which is billed Best as "Multi or AI".

Hey I just thought of this, reading the AT Mine thread; don't think it's ever been discussed...
To what extent does Mucky Mud affect mines? Surely they would not be as effective, and if that's a reasonable statement for RL, then to what extent is it modelled in the game?
Just thought that might be interesting...

If a person is required to *explain* their reasons for exercising a right, it is no longer a right.
No scenario designer should ever have felt the need to explain their reasons for not wanting their labors in a pack, much less refuse such a thing post facto when consent had not been requested...
But to see an SD list his reasons, repeatedly, reasons which are completely valid, no less, and *still* be "debated"... it really is a bit much.
OP seems to have had good intentions, and... that's good! But good intentions do not excuse trespass, they are just good intentions. And absolutely no "opinion" on a property owner's exercising his right, or the reasons for it, is even remotely relevant. Nor even polite, imho.

1) Why on Earth, (or Amber), did Z pick that name for a character? That always perturbed me.Originally posted by Michael emrys:[QB]It's the name of a character in Roger Zelazny's Amber series of novels. Next question?
2) Where can I get the Mod which will allow Corwin to go into Bullet Time in the Kolvir Campaign?
3) Did you enjoy your Ramadan?
4) Why do Tank Hunters get to have a Cover Armor command, neither Pioneers, Sharpshooters, nor anyone else can?
5) Why does a Cover Armor arc not consider Halftracks and such as Armor- surely the distinction should be between Carbon/Steel?
6) Why can't the SE load a map generated by QB?
7) Why can't the SE generate a *Random* "Smart" map, as smart as QB does?
8) Have you, (as a Mac player), ever witnessed your mouse behaving as though it were having an epileptic fit in view Six?
That should keep you out of trouble for awhile. The Fawlty Towers DVD collection fits on three DVDs, btw- four episodes per.
[EDIT- Thanks Slappy; and I guess Earth should have been capitalized]

Sure, why not. I deliberately did *not* read the manual, once I noticed it was going to tell me what to do, figuring that the manual would always be there, but a virgin test would not. Still haven't read it, actually.Originally posted by Cameroon:Personally if someone has won Jaegermeister some other way than the tutorial in the manual, I'd love to hear it.
There's a nice road leading from the Communist Valley to BattleTown. Take it. Redline your armor up to it's maximum landspeed before appearing in Fascist-LOS, zoom over hilltop, and arrive in B'Town behind buildings/trees while Panzer boy slings hopeless pathetic rounds past your contrails...
From there, two widely disparate approaches, (at least!) on the same enemy tank means KO, whether it's uber-armor or not. Piece O' Cake.

What's "CMBO"?Originally posted by redwolf:I didn't experiment in CMBB yet, but in CMBO
Same weight class? How about same exact vehicle type. I got down there in view six, X8 or whatever, lining those turkeys up exactly to the pixel... No way, Jose- the one just drives merrily right *through* the other like it's a ghost.vehicle of the same weight class as an immobile one can push the latter.I was then told that vehicles are modelled as *mathematical points*, which also explains why they provide no cover, (dammit), and so I haven't tried it since, but... if you can make it happen in CMBB please come back and brief us.

Tigrii: "You stay just out of LOS and area fire 1m away"
Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. What you missed saying is that you can have the peek-a-boo guy do his thing just enough to suppress the enemy, and your other HE asset comes out from hiding as soon as it's safe, strolls right out there and shoots straight on at a suppressed target. Wheeee!!
redwolf: "If you want fancy stuff with immobilized vehicles, start pushing them into useful positions. Takes a bit of practice."
WHAT??? "pushing them" how?!? I've never been able to push anybody, (although the AI can), not for love or money. What besides a "bit of practice" is your secret?
Louie The Toad: "In CMBO, anyway, if your unit is plotted to use area fire:
1) It won't react to other threats that appear during the turn.
2) It uses up ammo for the entire turn even if the 'target' is destroyed on the first shot."
#1, CMBB, absolutely. A unit will not disobey an Area Fire command unless it's one second away from getting blown out of the sky. Perversely enough, it's the opposite for a *smoke* area fire command- the units get bored with that one, and look for anything else interesting to shoot at- your troops depending on that smoke may notice the difference. Steve picked the best word describing the normal area fire, (although he misspelled it at the time ), when he called it 'rigid'.
#2, CMBB, almost, but not quite. A pioneer ordered to area fire a building will quit, (thank gawd), if he manages to blow it to smithereens before he uses up all his charges. Otherwise, yes- wads are completely shot in other cases; flamethrowers are hopeless. *Maybe* they would quit if told to area fire a "peasant shack" and they got it flamin' hot, but most bldgs take the whole gas tank. Hmmm need a test.

That would explain something for me. In _Haunted Hill_, towards the end, I had a sqaud or two facing a trench, with another squad in line with the trench, ready to jump in the end of it...Originally posted by buckshyesh:I think that the "Trench" marker really models a slightly more complex "system" of trenches, not just a single straight ditch.
I thought to myself, "Well, as soon as he jumps in there, he's going to be completely uncovered to the enemy squad in the trench on the other end, so it's going to be ugly, quite likely..."
But it wasn't- he jumped in, and he and the enemy exchanged fire in much the same way as if they were both in medium cover, like scattered trees.
If you ask me why I say that, well... it "looked" that way.
