Alsatian: Glad you like it, please feel free to hack it up and distribute as you like, that's what its for.
By the way, as there are no pink bits in the grass maps you can just resize them to half size to ease the load on your graphics card. I tried it here and it looks almost as good. I thought about uploading a lo-res version but figured that people could do that themselves if they need to. If anyone doesn't know how to do this and would prefer a lo-res version to download just shout and I'll stick one on COGs server for you.

I see I managed to fool you with my roll over and play dead tacticsOriginally posted by Wally's World:I just started using Strontium Dog's grass mod in the PBEM QB that I'm playing with him. Correction! That I'm winning over him.

Glad you like the snow too Mr Die Easy.
Thanks Pascal I hate grids so no chance on that score I'm afraid. If you want better defined woods and scattered trees just add the grounds from another terrain mod. I've had enough of modding for now, don't get time to play if I spend all my spare time painting grass and stuff

Thanks lcm1947. Glad you like it.Originally posted by lcm1947:Oh yes I've got this one. Nice. Very much so. Thanks Strontium Dog. The game is looking better and better with you recent improvements. Just what I needed.

Thanks guys. It sounds like their use wouldn't be too out of place and I've limited the available ammo to less than the default so whilst they're pretty devastating you still have to play well with the rest of your units to win. However, saying that I think I'll try the scenario out with different calibres to see if they work OK too.
Thanks again.

Worse as in blurry. I should add that I'm also using a different monitor now i.e. Formac Gallery 17" LCD (I was using a CRT monitor before) but I don't see how this can be a problem.

it doesn't happen in CMBO, even in the biggest scenario. .</font>Originally posted by tecumseh:</font><blockquote>quote:</font><hr />Originally posted by Schrullenhaft:

Definitely. I think tecumseh could be on the right track. I initially thought it might be just that the Geforce 4MX is a pretty crap video card but if its happening with the higher spec nvidia cards as well then it certainly seems that CMBO and CMBB are not using the cards efficiently. I wonder if there is any 3rd party software that could manually adjust the nvidia card settings?Originally posted by Michael emrys:Right. This seems to hit the nVidia cards a lot harder than the Radeons.

I'm designing a scenario set in March 1945 and I've included a bit of 8" artillery for the US force. I was wondering how realistic this is. Any information on the rarity of this calibre and/or the role it was generally used in would be very useful.

Good stuff Old Dog, keep it coming.

Hi Mr Die Easy, I'm considering making a CMMOS version Gordon has kindly sent me some documentation about this and I'm reading Old Dog's instruction threads on the CMBB board. The only problem is lack of motivation (as its no use to me on a Mac) but I'll see if I can overcome that (or maybe someone else will do it ).Originally posted by Mr. Die Easy:Would you consider making a CMMOS version?
Thanks all for the positive feedback on the mod. I'm really pleased you all like it so much.

Hi guys, just thought I'd add to this. I've just bought a new Mac (dual 867 G4 with 32Mb Nvidia Geforce 4MX) and I'm getting some really heavy downsampling in CMBO compared to the performance on my old G3 in which I'd installed a 32Mb ATI Radeon. This is a tad annoying to say the least!Originally posted by Michael emrys:Yeah, could be. That makes sense. I just didn't want to leave any stone unturned.

I've still got some troops left I'll have you know.Originally posted by Wally's World:Scrontium Dog has plenty of time on his hands to do his great mods. After my artillery put a beating on him in our PBEM QB, he probably has hardly any troops left to move.
Revenge will be sweet

I'm also on a Mac

Glad you like it Bruno.

Hi all
I've just uploaded a Grass and Mud mod at the mod database (i.e. http://www.cmmods.com)
It replaces all the grass textures with much more detailed textures. Its graduated in colour to represent altitude and there is also extra mud and rocks at the lower altitudes to enhance this effect and the overall realism. I've also removed the scattered tree grounds (and replaced them with transparent maps) and made the woods and pine tree grounds much more subtle. The mod reflects my own desire to make the battleground look more realistic - it doesn't make finding your troops any easier but I like it that way
Here are a couple of pictures:

I don't mean to insult your intelligence but you do have the weather effects switched on don't you? Shift + 'w'
Just thought I'd check

Hi guys
I don't have CMBB yet but I've been informed that both my water and winter water mods work in CMBB and CMBO so I thought I'd just post a quick message in this forum for those that don't check the CMBO forum.
Both mods are available at COG's database site under my handle

Thanks Peter Panzer.
Just thought I'd post the url (the new one) for the mod database as I just had an e-mail asking where it was.

The russians also made quite widespread use of captured panzerfausts (and they captured a lot) in the final stages of the war. They were favoured for blasting holes through walls during house to house combat. The faust made a convenient hole for the Russian troops and also cleared the room on the other side of any resistance. Is this relfected in CMBB at all?Originally posted by YankeeDog:The russians seemed to much prefer the larger Panzershreck they occasionally captured off the Germans.

I found that I couldn't download from Tom's site with IE (v4 on a Mac) but Netscape worked fine.

Hi Panzer Ace
I just tried to have a look at your mod and I couldn't open the bmps for
some reason (a parsing error of some sort) so it might be that the problem you were having isn't anything
to do with the zip utility. How are you generating the bmps? I use
Photoshop and save them as Windows 24bit bmps and this seems to work on Mac and PC. I noticed that your bmps are quicktime files so I wondered if this might be
the problem?

Thanks for checking that MikeT. I've updated the database accordingly.Originally posted by MikeT:I just checked this mod will work with CMBB as well. Same numbering scheme.
