  1. Alsatian: Glad you like it, please feel free to hack it up and distribute as you like, that's what its for.

By the way, as there are no pink bits in the grass maps you can just resize them to half size to ease the load on your graphics card. I tried it here and it looks almost as good. I thought about uploading a lo-res version but figured that people could do that themselves if they need to. If anyone doesn't know how to do this and would prefer a lo-res version to download just shout and I'll stick one on COGs server for you.

  2. Glad you like the snow too Mr Die Easy.

Thanks Pascal smile.gif I hate grids so no chance on that score I'm afraid. If you want better defined woods and scattered trees just add the grounds from another terrain mod. I've had enough of modding for now, don't get time to play if I spend all my spare time painting grass and stuff smile.gif

  3. Thanks guys. It sounds like their use wouldn't be too out of place and I've limited the available ammo to less than the default so whilst they're pretty devastating you still have to play well with the rest of your units to win. However, saying that I think I'll try the scenario out with different calibres to see if they work OK too.

    Thanks again.

Definitely. I think tecumseh could be on the right track. I initially thought it might be just that the Geforce 4MX is a pretty crap video card but if its happening with the higher spec nvidia cards as well then it certainly seems that CMBO and CMBB are not using the cards efficiently. I wonder if there is any 3rd party software that could manually adjust the nvidia card settings?

Hi Mr Die Easy, I'm considering making a CMMOS version smile.gif Gordon has kindly sent me some documentation about this and I'm reading Old Dog's instruction threads on the CMBB board. The only problem is lack of motivation (as its no use to me on a Mac) but I'll see if I can overcome that (or maybe someone else will do it smile.gif ).

Thanks all for the positive feedback on the mod. I'm really pleased you all like it so much.

Hi guys, just thought I'd add to this. I've just bought a new Mac (dual 867 G4 with 32Mb Nvidia Geforce 4MX) and I'm getting some really heavy downsampling in CMBO compared to the performance on my old G3 in which I'd installed a 32Mb ATI Radeon. This is a tad annoying to say the least!
  7. Hi all

I've just uploaded a Grass and Mud mod at the mod database (i.e. http://www.cmmods.com)

It replaces all the grass textures with much more detailed textures. Its graduated in colour to represent altitude and there is also extra mud and rocks at the lower altitudes to enhance this effect and the overall realism. I've also removed the scattered tree grounds (and replaced them with transparent maps) and made the woods and pine tree grounds much more subtle. The mod reflects my own desire to make the battleground look more realistic - it doesn't make finding your troops any easier but I like it that way smile.gif

Here are a couple of pictures:

They were favoured for blasting holes through walls during house to house combat. The faust made a convenient hole for the Russian troops and also cleared the room on the other side of any resistance. Is this relfected in CMBB at all?
  9. Hi Panzer Ace

I just tried to have a look at your mod and I couldn't open the bmps for

some reason (a parsing error of some sort) so it might be that the problem you were having isn't anything

to do with the zip utility. How are you generating the bmps? I use

Photoshop and save them as Windows 24bit bmps and this seems to work on Mac and PC. I noticed that your bmps are quicktime files so I wondered if this might be

    the problem?
