  1. Aha! I can answer both parts to this: 1st, SirReal has kindly offered to host the files in question (to save me hours e-mailing). The files are in 2 parts, 3.6Mb and 4.5Mb respectively. They are compressed in RAR format and can be found here: 9th Australia Div El Alamein Report 1942 pt1 and here: 9th Australia Div El Alamein Report 1942 pt2 2nd, I found the report in the Australian Defence Force Academy Library. I was looking for books on Aussies in Nth Africa and found it by chance. I'm planning to head back to the library this week to try and find more gold!
  2. Wot, you planning to take me outside for a thrashing? Wife-beaters and pluggers at 10 paces?
  3. Thanks for the info. I'm surprised all the grogs haven't wandered in here yet... but I suppose the Peng Challenge keeps them busy.
  4. At risk of speaking his name, do you really mean no Seanachai? Who will you get to toady to your every whim? Who will lick the scrapings from your boot with no Seanachai? Not that I like the damn yank, but he does serve his purpose as a punching bag.
  5. Thanks guys, if truth be known I have been sitting here with my mangy dial-up, sending it out for many hours. Any webhosts out there willing to take it on?
  6. As an aside, have been reading Alamein (Auth: Mark johnston & Peter Stanley) and they offer a reason for why the first garrison held out for so long vis a vis the short time held by the SA garrison. Johnston and Stanley assert that the first garrison commander, Major-(later Lieutenant-) General Sir Leslie Morshead was the reason. Morshead commanded from April-October 1941 and gained a high reputation for aggressive tactics and imperturbability. The seige gelled the men together. They night-patrolled aggressively, took many prisoners and won the first Australian VC of the war. Morshead was recognised afterward with a knighthood in 1942. His troops held him in high esteem. So developed was the esprit de corps that 9th Australian Division began to recognise themselves as 9th Div instead of 8th Army. In comparison, Klopper has had no such praises sung about him.
  7. Whew! Have sent out the files to all so far who have requested it. Some had e-mail size-limit problems. If you didn't get it, let me know and I'll break it up into smaller chunks.
  8. Seanachi sez: I should have known the Peng Challenge would try to hijack this thread. Come back when you can put together a decent rugby team.
  9. The scanning is finished and I will be zipping and emailing it during my lunch break. Sit tight for a while...
  10. It is an official defence publication from 1942, an AAR in effect. BTW have been on the scanner this morning and work is about 70% complete. Each page is about 100k, except maps which will be a bit larger. Please let me know whether you want jpeg or pdf format....
  11. Hi all, I've recently been doing some background reading/research in preparation for the release of CMAK and came across this little gem: 9th Australian Division Report on Operations El Alamein Oct-Nov 1942  . It was published in '42 and contains 9th Div OOB, orders, echelon maps and 1:50000 situational maps. If anyone from Battlefront, scenario builders or web hosts are interested, I'm planning to risk copyright infringement and scan it at work tomorrow  . It is 39 single sided pages + 3 large maps, so have no idea at this stage how large the file will be. If you want a copy in jpeg/pdf format, just indicate here in the forum or email me.
  12. Why don't you just download the France 1940, DFDR, Pacific War mods already available? Or is that to simple?
