Sabotai replied to Treeburst155's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I have been done since 7/31. Yawn....wake me when you guys have something to report. Snooooooze. -
Poop. BTW, that was a very fast reply, thanks. In fact it was so fast I missed your edit! Thanks for the info. [ August 06, 2002, 03:50 PM: Message edited by: Sabotai ]

I remember a discussion a long (long) time ago that a WWII version of TacOps was in the works. Is that still planned?

What about dogs barking? I loved that in CC3.

RoW II: The Boots & Tracks Brawl (Part IV)

I'm all done. Three draws and two minor loses - an improvement over last time...but we will see what Mr. Nabla says. BTW, I go by WadePM in the tourney. I was logged out one day and my old password wouldn't work so I had to get a new identity, I needed a change anyway. Now I am a junior member again! -
How do you rate Clark's writings?
Sabotai replied to Nekander's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
One thing Clark's book has is a good discussion of the political situation inside Germany and how it affected battlefield decisions. Although Hitler had near absolute power, that power had to be constantly maintained. How he did that, sometimes at the expense of victory on the battlefield, was interesting. -
CM is by far the best tactical war game ever designed....so far. The second "upgrade" will be coming out soon. If you think CMBO is great you may have to reach for your thesaurus when you see CMBB.

I had a game where I took out two Stugs with 2" mortars - I love those things. Their little smoke puff is just pitiful BTW.

RoW II Boots and Tracks Brawl part tres....
Sabotai replied to THumpre's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I have finished 3 and the last two are in their final stages. Polish Push was interesting and nice and short. A nice little slugfest. -
Rampant CMBB speculation inside!!!
Sabotai replied to gredeker's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Yea....and the answer to all of your questions is no. Especially the sixth. -
Had to leave early but had a great time, thanks Rune. CMBB totally rocks. Geeze, I hope I didn't give away anything with that statement! Extreme fog of war is intense. There I go again, I had better stop before I say something out of line. Thanks again to Berli for the "loan" of the bungi to fix my muffler - it worked beautifully.

H-hour...Rune, I am on my way should be there about 1:30 with some cold Rocks.
-
Do you guys remember squad smoke usage in Steel Panthers? There was smoke everywhere, until they ran out that is, which was usually halfway through the game. I think smoke usage is OK in CM - not too much but still enough to be useful at times. Until we get real weather effects (wind, rain, etc.) this is the best we can hope for.

Sabotai replied to freaky ol'man w/very long wings's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I have been reading a book entitled "German Battle Tactics on the Russian Front 1941-1945" edited by Steven Newton, 1994. It is basically translated AARs with some of the worst maps I have ever seen in print, ugh. Good read though....but is it balanced? Anybody read it? -
Rune, how many are coming - I want to pick up some beverages on the way in. Any preferences gentlemen? If not I will bring my favorites Rolling Rock or MGD, nothing fancy.
-
Rune, Got your email, thanks. See you guys there!

Just got the OK from "Sweet Pea" to attend. Anything I can bring - beer, wine, chips....a laptop? Same time as before?
