  1. Hi i have centauro 1.3.6 and newest balance mod installed. I was wondering if the mod made changes to the campaign structure? This is because I don't really play multiplayer and want to try to play single player campaigns with the new units and features of the Balance mod. However I noticed that in the Italian campaign (haven't checked others), there is substantially less amount of units to choose from to start each battle with (compared to vanilla TOW). I was wondering if this was a design or is there something I have to edit? Also when I start a multiplayer LAN game to play against computer, the game immediately ends with my being victorious right after entering the 3D mode... This is with the computer set as my opponent. Are there particular settings I should choose to make LAN mode with AI work? Thanks
  2. Hi guys, I was playing with 1.3.6 Centauro and decided to try out the balance mod. I downloaded the mod from the mod website (ver 1.5.1) and installed it following the instructions word for word. I plan to play the Centauro campaign with the mod to see how it works and when i begin my new campaign, all of my AT guns and M tanks are labeled with a "?" The Semovete (how you spell it?) is labeled correctly under the unit card. Is there something wrong with this? Even in game, when i click on my L6 tankette, for example, the unit name in game is a "?". So is my 37mm AT gun and 50 mm pak. It looks like all the British and American tanks and guns have their name displayed correctly though. anyone know how i can fix this? Thanks

  5. Hi guys, I just bought and downloaded and installed Centauro this weekend. I have been playing the Italian campaign. its very fun so far. However, after I have completed my third mission, called Maknasse something (where I was defending a railroad depot and a small town), I came to the end mission screen. I assigned points/skills to my soldiers and everything was fine EXCEPT when i click continue.... Now all of a sudden, I am taken to the mission called "Kassarine Pass" as the British!?? this is weird. I thought I am in an Italian campaign. Why is it after mission 3, I switched sides to be the Brits? is this suppose be the design or somethings wrong with my game... thanks
  6. Hey guys, I just got time to download and install the new patch (1.1). it installed successfully and the game runs fine. I have also read the readme. However I no longer see any of my saved games in-game anymore. The files are still present in my "user" folder under the game directory. Is this suppose to happen as part of the patch? that old saved games no longer work or being detected?
  7. just chiming in here. i think i read something like this over at Empire: Total War forums, where people are also experience crashes. it seems like 3D games these days are so great looking that they use a lot of memory and eventually will catch up to the limit of 32bit operating system's memory address space. is this the same issue here? i could be wrong, and dont know the exact term, but reading this definitely reminded me of reading something like that on their forum. i use 32bit vista, and my game crashes... maybe i should consider 6+ gb ram and 64bit now, hehe
  8. thanks Sneaksie. i wont have time to do this soon, but just wondering, after i extract and edit the files with the SFS extractor, do I have to repack it back or can I just leave it in the same directory and the game will automatically use the extracted files?
  9. sneaksie, thanks for the input! is there a place you can point me to so I can learn to change this values, if i want to, just for fun? I understand there are going to be differences, etc. it is a game after all, and i just want to have some fun. this way i can fix myself the same data for two guns thing.
  10. that is what i noticed too! russian guns have high penetration values for 30 degrees, and german guns have low values for 0 degrees. someone was biased, lol question is can we change the data ourselves?
  11. Hey guys, I have Theater of War installed from DVD, and then patched to the "uber" patch. Then I installed JSH mod 1.3.1 and then patched it to 1.3.2. The game runs absolutely fine. However, while playing, I noticed that the 7.5 cm L/43 gun in the panzer 4 F2 has the same penetration values as the 7.5 cm L/48 in the panzer 4 H and later Stugs. All the values for the APCBC, APCR, and HE shells are the same. The penetration data seems to be of the earlier L/43 gun (shorter). So the L48 has a disadvantage/mis-represented right now. From "Achtung Panzer" website http://www.achtungpanzer.com/panzerkampfwagen-iv.htm#panzer4 The penetration of the L48 gun at 500 against verticle armor is 114mm. This means that at point blank, it should be higher, around 140? and even if then calculated to be at 30 degrees, it should still be above 100mm. But right now it is listed as 93mm at point blank, which makes sense for the L43 gun. Is there a way that I can fix this myself? or do I need to wait for another patch. I feel like there should be a patch to change all the guns' penetration values to real world ones. Thanks.
  12. Hey I feel like chiming in. I just downloaded and installed the game yesterday. Played a couple of campaign battles. The first US battle and second one was rock solid. However, I started playing the British campaign, and now I am on "Road to Thala" battle. The game keeps on crashing to desktop with or without windows error warning during the loading screen or randomly during the middle of my battle. Very frustrating. The game crashed twice during the US campaign also, but it was able to play stably throughout the battle after a reload. My system has been rock stable for all other games I play and this is my dedicated gaming desktop: Antec 900 case with lots of fans for cooling ASRock P45XE motherboard Intel E6600 CPU 4GB DDR2 800 dual channel ram AMD Radeon 4870 512MB with catalyst 9.4 drivers Creative Lab X-Fi Xtreme Gamer PCI sound card 2x 74GB WD Raptor HDDs PATA DVD burner Running on Vista Home Premium SP1 32bit Other games that run stable and at max settings: BF2, Redorchestra, CoD WaW, Empire Total War. Otherwise, I love the game, I think it is much better than the first one. For some reason, I feel like I can handle the soldiers much better, like they would obey my commands and there is not "lag" when commanding them. However I do agree there are some infantry problems. They seem to get run down way too easily. And also the enemy have super spotting, especially on the 2nd US battle. My howitzers keep getting killed by unknown enemy arty.
  13. Hi guys, I dug up my CMAK and CMBB once again. This time I am running it on my HTPC (w/ 8800GS) connected to my Toshiba 46" HDTV through HDMI. So basically the TV is pretty picky about resolutions. If there is an unsupported resolution, the TV will display that line and I cannot see anything except a black screen. Well when i first start CMAK, I get just that, b/c the game is letting me set a resolution. But I cannot set one b/c my screen is black, and therefore no preference file is created either. Is there anyone that can help me with this? like send me a CMAK and CMBB resolution preference file that is set at 1024x768, 1280x720, 1360x768, or 1440x900 at 60Hz? I don't know how to get the game resolution set as of now
  14. hey guys, does anyone know a trick or a fix to fix the corruption of the edges of maps once the games gets into the 3D battlefield? It seems like the sky also disappeared. I have Vista Home Premium 32bit SP1 and 8800GS 384MB 2GB RAM and Core 2 Duo E6600 using Intel P965 chipset. also the game runs pretty slow for a G92 chip. But I have read that else where on the forums too. thanks
  15. my notebook is config. like a desktop, always plugged in, not power savings, etc. my question is i guess that whether it is worth it to upgrade the cpu to something like 2.16 or 2.33 core 2 duo. would i see a good improvement playing ToW. b/c right now, the games can get very laggy but of course, on new egg, i think the 2.33 core 2 duo costs like $430!!
  16. Hey, so just some thoughts and questions. Currently, I struggle to run this game at 1280x800 more than 20 fps... I have a Geforce Go 7900GTX 512MB GDDR3. A t5600 core 2 duo at 1.83 GHz. (this a toshiba p100-st9752 notebook) I have run this game on a desktop before with AMD X2 4200+ (2.2 GHz) and a 7600 GT 256 GDDR3. Both computers have 2 GB system RAM. On the desktop, TOW runs smoothly, even with multiple units on during a battle. Don't know what is going on, but I believe my current notebook is actually slightly more powerful. But for some reason it runs TOW slow, and also even simulates turns for CMBB slower than the desktop. any input appreciated. thanks
  17. OH also, should i enable two cpu option in game? it is disabled by default. Also what I mean is the game is laggy in general, something like <10 fps in many cases during battles when enemies start to show up. this is very bad, I can't even react fast enough bc of the lag. Got totally killed in Mouse Trap
  18. Hi all, I just updated TOW with the new Uber patch. When I was playing the Mouse Trap scenario in the Normandy Campaign, the game runs very laggy. I know I have Vista, but I also checked the "xp compatibility" box on the shortcut. I also have UAC turned off, so that is not an issue. I have a toshiba P100 notebook with: 1.83GHz Core 2 Duo 2 GB RAM Geforce Go 7900GTX with 512MB GDDR3 game runs of external Raptor 10000 rpm HDD attached via eSATA 150 Vista Ultimate SP1 with most services disabled. I have 22% ram free when i run the game I am also using 196.25 drivers patched with laptopvideo2go inf file. Just wondering if there is a way I can speed my game up. I am already using pretty low resolution at 1024x640. Would I see performance improvements in XP? Toshiba does not release XP drivers for this P100-ST9752 So i rather not look for XP drivers everywhere. Or is that 7900GTX is too slow for this game ?! thanks
  19. Hey, just a question, when i delete the preference file, i do get a black screen asking me to choose a resolution. but the maximum it shows is 1024x768, and not the native my monitor supports, which is 1280x800. I cycled through all of them.
  20. how do u get a resolution above 1024x768? by the way, so CMBB runs smooth as hell on my celeron 1.6 laptop with radeon xpress 200M LOL LOL... but it lags like hell on my mobility HD2600XT with core 2 duo 2.4 LOL anyways yeah my laptop support 1280x800, is there a way i can get that resolution so things don't look so fat? thanks
  21. well. i tried to use the affinity setting and turn off one of the cores. doesnt help. Also i doubt older version of driver works, I have 7.10, but have tried 7.09, etc. Plus i like 7.10 because of the optimizations in speed it brings to HD2600 series of cards. So i have a laptop with an ATi Xpress shared graphics card. would that run CMBB better???? that would be hilarious... other than that, i don't have old computers lying around my dorm for use
  22. hi guys, I can't figure out why, but when i load up an operation of battle of larger than medium size, the game really lags. When i move around in the battlefield, it skips. Does this game have a problem running on newer machines? B/c Theatre of War runs smooth as hell on my computer. I have an iMac 20" Santa Rosa platform running windows xp (bootcamp) with 2GB ram, 2.4 core 2 duo, 7.10 catalyst drivers running on mobility radeon hd2600xt. what computers are other ppl running cmbb on? is there any tweaks I can do to make this game run faster? right now any medium sized map game is even unplayable...it skips too much. it is very odd considering i have the newest platform... any suggestions/help appreciated. thanks, mike

  24. Hi, Please help us, we have the same problem! I'm trying to play CMBB. I even installed the newest 7.10 catalyst drivers, the text is still all white out. There is a white box around white text, so you can't see anything! I have iMac 20" 2.4Ghz with Radeon HD2600 Pro; but it is registered as Mobility Radeon HD2600XT in windows XP (running Natively) and with 7.10 Catalyst drivers (modified using DH mobility modder). The driver works fine, but is there a fix or any very of the catalyst driver I can use with fix this issue?? Thanks!
