this is total BS.. if it was true you wouldnt be hearing 'news' on the way back machine.

John just because its on the internet doesnt mean its true. Yes I know about the 21 cell phone accounts. That doesnt mean 21 dead by the most eextreme metric, the cell phones dropped were favored by the poorest and migrants and college kids and had to be 'recharged' -they would have went offline in a lockdown in Hubei Prov anyway.

It was Kettler ' tiresome way of trying to hide / bypass directly linking to his conspiracy source. Most of it was a rehash of an earlier rebunked posting earlier in the thread - which BFC have repeatedly warned him of posting.

Swedish doctors also began to give malaria medication to severely ill patients, despite the lack of controlled studies.

    - We did like everyone else and gave chloroquine to the patients in the beginning. There were test tube studies that showed that it had an effect on coronavirus and it was a drug we knew from the treatment of malaria, says Magnus Gisslén, professor and chief physician at the infection clinic at Sahlgrenska University Hospital / Östra.

But now he has made a complete reversal. Last week, all treatment with chloroquine was stopped against covid-19 in Sahlgrenska.

    - There were reports of suspected more serious side effects than we first thought. We cannot rule out serious side effects, especially from the heart, and it is a hard-dosed drug. In addition, we have no strong evidence that chloroquine has an effect on covid-19.

    Seriously?

Maybe the courts simply presented him with the evidence...

Despite there being clear warnings about entering the hospital.. Kierran Stevenson, 32, was captured on CCTV ... after posting on social media that he was going to go walk around the hospital .. He posted photos on Facebook of himself at the hospital and images of hospital corridors.

What is worrying about this story, if one actually reads it, is that it appears that the guy was trying to expose a lack of appropriate masks or of social distancing tactics in that hospital - ie he is a legitimate whistle blower.  Please read the story for yourselves as maybe I am interpreting it incorrectly.

But, if am reading that article correctly, the govt dumped on him to shut him up fast to stop him telling unpleasant truths.  Nothing to do with him acting in an inappropriate manner.

Take a peak at his facebook page - full of coronavirus CT - blaming media for exaggerating a 'normal flu' and other Qanon bizarre nonsense

    screenshot_1873.jpgscreenshot_1874.jpg

Won't post any more links to his woo.  It seems he was out of work so took it upon himself to go into a hospital which has restricted access to expose what he thinks is happening as a hoax.

Note. he pleaded guilty to causing a public nuisance.

"the govt dumped on him to shut him up fast to stop him telling unpleasant truths."

Cock up or conspiracy? as his facebook page is still public > https://www.facebook.com/kierran.stevenson

    Sburke, Wicky, Holien,

I read your replies. If you say so.

Either way this potato is too hot to handle.  So I will withdraw, until retrospective times, which I hope will come soon.

    Good luck.

No need to back out - I agree there are economic and issues of freedom related to this crisis - As well as the medical priority of getting on top of the problem.  We as individuals in our respective countries are like patients addmited into hospital where the patient is in another role to one normally.  Heck before technically I could take obs, blood pressure etc touch the patient I had to get their verbal consent / sumilar in priciple to as when you sign consent for invasive surgery. So there's a surrender of liberties when admitted or a new balance struck esp so for quarantined patients - you try not to encorouge them to wander off the ward and thankfully never had one try to self-discharge.  Patient safety is the priority. One time in the hospital at night we had a person (druggy?) enter the hospital and had to run around after him to catch him and hand him over the polce, taking us away from the patients in our care.  Like the case of the coronavirus denier making a nuisance of himself wandering about the hospital I linked to earlier.

In this crisis politicians are having to balance the economy / law & order and keep things running at a basic survival level which the consequences will be seen once measures ease off.   Problem is with weeks without money many folk will be desperate and I expect crime to rise - heck noticed already only after a fortnight a local rise in business burglaries already - after 3 or so months... goodness knows.

  7. On a TB note, with caveats:

Tuberculosis vaccine ‘potential game-changer’ in Covid-19 fight

A study indicating that the BCG vaccine for tuberculosis could help to protect against Covid-19 is “a potential game-changer” in global efforts to curb the pandemic, according to a leading immunologist.

The research indicating that countries whose populations have high levels of BCG vaccination had significantly fewer Covid-19 deaths was the most significant development since the virus has spread, said Prof Luke O’Neill, who has specialised in study of the vaccine at Trinity College Dublin.

Explainer: How an old tuberculosis vaccine might help fight the new coronavirus

(Reuters) - There is no vaccine against the novel coronavirus, called SARS-CoV-2, that is spreading rapidly around the world. But scientists in several countries are testing a century-old tuberculosis (TB) vaccine to see if it might boost the immune system to reduce respiratory symptoms in people who get new coronavirus infections.

Unlike other vaccines, the BCG vaccine may also boost the innate immune system, first-line defenses that keep a variety of pathogens from entering the body or from establishing an infection. One study in Guinea-Bissau found 50% lower mortality rates in children vaccinated with BCG than in kids who did not get this vaccine. That is a much bigger drop in deaths than could be explained by a reduction in TB cases. Some studies have found similar reductions in respiratory infections among teens and the elderly.

    WHAT SCIENTISTS DO NOT KNOW

Scientists do not have data yet on the effect of BCG vaccination on coronaviruses in general or SARS-CoV-2 in particular.

  8. Wonder if the case was suspected before the medics flew out or they took it with them (without going into quarantine beforehand)??

4th April - Soldier tests positive in Falkland Islands' first case

The first case of coronavirus has been reported in the Falkland Islands, a remote British territory.

A soldier who tested positive is in a stable condition in hospital, says the Commander of the British Forces South Atlantic Islands, Brigadier Nick Sawyer.

Six army medics had already been deployed there with additional supplies of medicine, oxygen and personal protective equipment.

Residents in the Falkland Islands have been following the same social distancing measures as the rest of the UK.

  9. 'Captain Crozier! Captain Crozier!' Capt. Brett Crozier, then-commanding officer of the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt addresses the crew during an all-hands call in the ship’s hangar bay March 3, 2020. Crozier was relieved of command after his letter that warned sailors could die from the coronavirus outbreak aboard the carrier was leaked to the media. 'Captain Crozier! Captain Crozier!': Videos show sailors sending off ousted USS Roosevelt commander with cheers

  10. Thankfully Guam took the Carrier in, unlike in Florida which is prevaricating about taking infected cruise ships in because of foreigners on board (I believe there are also US citizens aboard) - similar attitute that T had a while back with cruise ships off California upseting his 'numbers'.

Crozier by going to the press showed a certain president up and like he wants state governors to be meak & 'appreciative', spose the same applies to a stricken vessel.

Crazy thing at yesterdays presser I think it was Pence claiming that crews in submarines and tanks were adhering to 'social distancing' rules.

    Mind boggling

  11. Welcome back and a belated merry crimbo & new year !  You're absence has been noted and accounts debt will be making deductions for time off without notice. You could have still used your left arm or, like Christy Brown, used your left foot to let us know you weren't in full working order but otherwise okay.

Now you've emerged I hope you're safety bunkered down and wrapped in cotton wool and being treated as a national treasure, during these tipsy turvy days.

Captain of aircraft carrier with growing coronavirus outbreak pleads for help from Navy

“This will require a political solution but it is the right thing to do,” Crozier wrote. “We are not at war. Sailors do not need to die. If we do not act now, we are failing to properly take care of our most trusted asset — our Sailors.”
