I tried re-installing the 81.85's again and got better results than the first time, but still not good. I also experienced the ghostly blinking. I followed the instructions that were posted, but did not use any sort of driver cleaner. Perhaps I need to use a cleaner to get rid of the old driver.
I went back to the old driver and it works fine.

A post in the General Forum concerning Drop Team contains a link to an article that says DropTeam will be released in a few months.
Looking forward to it.
I hope my upgrades can handle DropTeam and CM:SF.

Remember Dr. Funkenstein?
Dr. Funkenstein, King of the Funk, yeah!
Swift lippin', ego trippin' and body snatchin'
I'll blow your mind
Comin' to you directly from the Mothership
Pulling up the last leg (ah, ah, ah)
Of the P.Funk
Well, alright

Oh, right! How could I have thrown you in with that other bunch. Once again, my apologies.
-
My apologies. I just quoted the part that sounded like it would be a good addition. Sorry for the confusion. Aren't you one of the Four Horsemen?
-
Yes. It sounds to me like they've improved upon the CMX1 engine by giving the player a little more control over what occurs during the movement. He did say that the units AI will still kick in if a threat presents itself.
I also like the unit memory concerning hostile targets that suddenly disappear from sight. This always plagued me in CMX1.
Is there something that was said that you think will be a negative?

Nice!Originally posted by Battlefront.com:...The ramifications of this new system are profound. To illustrate this, I'll describe (in generalized terms) something that was impossible to do in CMx1. In CMx2 if you wish to move a tank moving down a street and moving its turret around to cover potential threats, your Commands might look like this:
Waypoint 1 - Move, orientate turret right
Waypoint 2 - Move, orientate turret left
Waypoint 3 - Move, orientate turret right
Waypoint 4 - Stop, orientate turret center, button up
So for Waypoints 1-3 the player issues two Commands, and for Waypoint 4 issued three. Note that the player doesn't HAVE to issue three Commands per waypoint, just that it is possible to do this if so desired. Much of the time one Command per waypoint will be the norm because the usual Combat Commands are Persistent and Special/Admin Commands are not generally used. Was the lack of this sort of control missed by players? For sure it was to some extent. However, with the way CMx2 works now we expect that people would find the old system a serious liability.
Now, this does not mean the TacAI isn't going to do anything for you as it did in CMx1. Quite the contrary... the TacAI should be quite active in managing the little details. The difference is that the TacAI no longer has to read the player's mind for those situations which fall outside of the norm. For example, you don't have to tell a vehicle to rotate its turret towards a threat in order to engage it, then specify what type of ammo and how many shots to fire at it. 9 times out of 10 the TacAI's default behavior will handle all this stuff exceptionally well, especially because it now has a memory for targets. But when you want to conserve ammo and only whack a bunker ONCE or you have a hunch that a threat is coming from a particular direction, you can now give more guidance to the unit than you could in CMx1...

You betta recigniz! Shiiiiit!
When I saw this thread I laughed so hard I almost fell off my chair. I still have some of their records.

Thanks, WineCape.
I bookmarked the link you provided. I must have missed a step. Although, I'm not sure I want green tinged smoke. In any case, sorry for the false alarm.

I'd be interested to know if you also see the same problem that I did. I'm wondering if I have some setting wrong, but as I stated in a previous post, I didn't change the card settings from one driver to the next.
-
The 2d elements like the text were missing. I tried it very quickly and when I launched CMBB, I knew right away that something wasn't right. I couldn't see the buttons to launch into a game and allot of text wasn't on the screen.
As soon as I rolled back the driver to 77.76, everything was back to normal.
Not sure if this has anything to do with the new card that I got but since the 77.76 drivers work fine, I would think that the card doesn't enter into it.
Let me know if I can supply more details.

Things were missing from the screens.

Bump...
I added 512MB of Ram and upgraded my video card. I'm hoping the AMD XP 3200+ processor is sufficient to run this game.
-
After installing my new video card today, I decided to surf out to Nvidia.com to get the latest/greatest video driver. 77.76 was what came with the card and this worked great with Combat Mission. 81.85 was available for download, so I downloaded and installed the driver. Combat Mission didn't work so good after that. I ended up rolling the driver back to the 77.76 version and everything is fine now.
Just an FYI for those interested.

No problems whatsoever. I bought the card today. I installed it in minutes. I was surprised to see that the old Chaintech Ti4600 was the same size as the 6800GT.
Thanks!

Just curious. I'm actually looking forward to this game, almost as much as Battlefront's Shock Force.

Thanks for responding. I'm going to buy this card tomorrow. If I run into any trouble with the installation, I'll post to let the Battlefront forum know that there are issues.
Thanks again.

Hello all,
My motherboard - Abit NF-7S2
Currently have - Chaintech Nvidia GeForce Ti4600 128MB 4xAGP
Want to get - BFG GeForceā¢ 6800GT OC 256MB 4x/8xAGP
On BFG's website, it states that this card may not fit on certain AGP motherboards because of its size.
"This Graphics Card Requires:
An AGP 2.0 (or higher) compliant motherboard. Some motherboards violate the AGP specification and therefore this card may not physically fit in some systems."
How can I tell if the motherboard is AGP 2.0 (or higher)?
Thanks for any feedback in advance.

Yes?

I would pay for those enhancements to CMBB. But I think Battlefront has already stated that it would be too much work to rip apart the CMBB engine to add the additional eye candy.
-
Without a doubt, I'll be purchasing this.
-
Did you see those screenshots? How can you not be happy with that level of detail? I'm a WWII addict and I'm thrilled, even though WWII will not be first, at least we know its coming.
I will definitely be buying the modern warfare game, CMSF. Now I have two games to look forward to getting, CMSF and DropTeam.
And I will be buying that GeForce 6800Ultra card.
Glad I bought another 512MB of RAM.

Wow! Just got back from a trip and saw your response. Sounds great!
