  1. You told me that once a while ago. I guess the vehicles I'm sending back are in bad shape because it seems like the count doesn't go up before the game ends.

Are there an unlimited supply of Dropships? It would seem appropriate that a call for a Dropship would take more time as the inventory of these vehicles begins to dwindle.

  2. Just wanted to get some clarification on calling for an extraction. In a situation where your vehicle is alive but damaged, does calling for an extraction keep the count for that vehicle type at the same level? In other words, If there are 15 Paladin 76MM's left in the team inventory, does my damaged and extracted one get repaired and go back into inventory or does it get junked when it reaches the mothership?

I know I've had troubles using mines, because I don't actually know how big of an area they cover.

    I like that idea.

Try taking the Ice Fields base away from defenders now, eh?

Good point. Hadn't thought of that.
  5. Well, in retrospect, I was the dumby for continuing to run over them. To top it off, I was even more foolish to get caught with the enemy flag in an area where I couldn't return it to get 100 points for my team.

Anyway, I thought the idea for smart-mines was an interesting one and worthy of a thread for discussion.

  6. I experienced a bit of frustration in a game last night. A teammate had peppered the surrounding area of our base/flagstation with mines. And I mean peppered! There was only one area in and out that could be traversed safely.

I didn't even realize that the mines had been dumped and the foliage hid them rather effectively. Needless to say I lost a few vehicles before I figured out what was going on.

The worst part was when I was coming in with the enemy flag, and couldn't get into my own base because it had been ringed with mines.

Being that this is futuristic combat, I started thinking that maybe there could be a way for the mines to only work against enemy vehicles and not friendly. A smart-mine that could read a vehicle signature and determine whether or not to detonate. It sounded futuristic to me and I thought I would throw it out as an idea.

    Any thoughts? Fire away all!

  7. Hello,

Yeah, I made that comment. Is everyone that you see on a 1.02 server an actual human being or are there automatons that are given ID's to fill up the game with players?

    Just curious.

I tried to communicate with some of the players and nobody responded, even after I asked for some sort of response from anyone on my team.

Is it that the players I was on with just don't know how to press the enter key and type something, or was their lack of response their way of telling me to go pound?

Anyway, I really like this game. When I first started playing, I played to kill enemy vehicles. Now I play to actually win the game, gain as many points for my team as possible. I think this makes it more interesting.

This happened to my Paladin on the cratered moon map. I came out of it completely undamaged!
  9. Just another observation on this old topic. The final score tally for a team, Blood/Water, includes everyone's points on that team. That includes points for kills. So, by scuttling your damaged-beyond-repair/usefulness vehicle, you deny the enemy a point, which could ultimately end up denying the opposing team a game win.

In simpler terms, by scuttling my disabled-but-not-yet-dead-vehicle, I deny your team a point.

Perhaps the game should be modified so that the last enemy opponent to damage the scuttled vehicle gets kill credit.

  10. Well, I've been on the DropTeam battlefield for a while and I keep seeing the same "Player ID's" on the vehicles. Makes me wonder how many full version copies have been sold. This is a good game and I'll be playing it for quite a while.

Had a great time last night. One game I played in was a real back and forth affair. Great game!

    My ID is Mortlach.

    What's yours?

  11. Yes, this does work good. I was playing last night and two of the players on my team were talking to me. I had to hit the enter key and type my reply. It's a little too time consuming to be typing a reply in such a hostile environment. I'm going to try and set my machine up with a headset.

Sorry. You're right! I received the full version yesterday. It was my lack of knowledge cncerning how to switch ammo types that led me to believe there was no HE.

You are correct, however. There are 50 HE shells listed in the ammo loadout inventory. I did notice that the 50 HE shells are not designated until you use the '=' key to switch ammo type.

    Could be.

I hope to receive the CD for the full version in the mail soon. I just recently moved and was able to join the ranks of those lucky folks who have a high-speed internet connection. At my old address, I could only get a dial-up connection.
