That extra track on the chassis and turret look really good.

That cements it! I ordered the memory!Originally posted by Redwolf:... 2 GB of RAM are a must, IMHO.
Thanks, Redwolf.

You read my mind. I really like my machine. The technology may be obsolete, AGP video card, 32 bit processor, etc., but it is more than adequate for every application I currently run. The next generation of games from Battlefront may change my mind, but I get a feeling that my box will run those as well. I think I'm going to up the RAM to 2GB. The articles you posted were interesting.Originally posted by Schrullenhaft:Some people may say "save the money and get a new motherboard/CPU". However if that isn't anything you're going to do soon, then an upgrade to 2Gb of RAM may be useful to you...
Thanks!

I read on Microsoft's site that Windows XP can use up to 4GB's of RAM, but what applications demand that much? Certainly not the current generation of CM. Maybe TOW will be a more demanding application than CM.

The subject of the thread says it all. My current motherboard tops out at 2GB's of DDR400 RAM. If I currently have 1GB, would it be worth my while to max out the board or should I save my money?
My system:
Windows XP Pro
AMD Athlon XP 3200+ Processor
1GB Kingston Hyper-X DDR400 RAM
Thanks in advance to all who reply.

I realize this is a dead/old thread, but I was going through it and saw that many, if not all of the components inside the machine, were, in the end, re-seated. More than likely, being that the problem was not experienced after this was done, one of the components was not seated properly, hence the fix.Originally posted by foamy:With the case closed CPU went up a bit 50 - 56C, and MB 36 - 38C. This seems very reasonable to me, Probe has logged a couple of days temp at 54 - 56C.
The freeze-up problem has not occured at all since I cleaned out the dust etc. I doubt this was the cause but I will never know ?? Intermitant faults are a real nuisance.
Anyway, all is well so no more posts from me - Thanks again to you all for the advice and comments.

Looks great!

Looking forward to seeing this Big Cat revamped by the master of mods.
Thanks!

I think this mod is worn and dirty and I like it very much. Thanks!

Neat! Thanks!

Interesting thread.
My guess is Sherman wins 15 out of 20.

One thing that's very important is to do what you do when driving in Real Life, which is to take your foot OFF of the gas when turning. Especially in an all-wheel drive vehicle, it's very important to not have those rear wheels pushing you forward while trying to turn with the front wheels.Originally posted by ClaytoniousRex:</font><blockquote>quote:</font><hr />but try zig-zagging through a patch of trees with the new suspension...WHAM!
Anyway, try being more delicate with that W key. It can have a tremendous impact on turning. </font>

Yeah, it's strange alright. I used to have a bit of confidence with the Paladin because of its speed and maneuverability, but not anymore. It's still fast, but try zig-zagging through a patch of trees with the new suspension...WHAM! You'll run into something and stop dead right quick. And then, as everyone well knows, once you become motionless in a hot zone, you're just a sitting duck.

I played this morning after downloading the 1.21 fix and I had a good gaming experience. Thanks for the fixes. If I come up with anything, I will post.
Thanks again!

I wanted to post this in the right forum, so here it is again.
I don't know what was changed in the latest 1.2 upgrade, but I can tell you that when I got on and played last night, things weren't good.
Gameplay has suddenly become very choppy. The vehicle I was controlling seemed to move in spurts and was near uncontrollable.
Also, for some reason, the Delta Pavonis server was listed twice when I refreshed the available servers.
Dropping a unit onto the battlefield was very buggy. I received weird messages like, "Unable to drop unit while currently a passenger" - something like that. I didn't know what it was talking about. It took several attempts before my Paladin finally showed up in the game.
The game is unplayable with this newest release, 1.2.
I'm sure the developers realize this by now, but I thought I should post the problems I was having since updating to this latest release in order to help the developers debug the issues.
Looking forward to the fixes!
Have a great weekend all!

Yeah, I got kicked off just as a game was coming to a close, (Server Not Responding). Hopefully 1.1.7 will fix this problem.

That's the key to defeating this tank. 9 times out of 10 the Germans will encounter a green crew that bails when the first small arms round pings harmlessly off the turret. Can you imagine KV's with crack or elite crews? OUCH!Originally posted by MPK:.....immobilisation
is enough, especially with Green crews,
who are just itching to bail...

This is part of a post I made on August 30th in reference to the 1.1.4 release:
"Also, at this point the game has become so complex with all of the additions that reading the original manual that came with it is near pointless."
That having been said, I think that until the game gets to a point where the players and the creators are content, it would be foolish to release a new manual. I'm grateful that the quick keystrokes listed on the back of the original manual still work. I had to refer to it the other day when I wanted to extract a unit from the battlefield and found that the most recent release moved the command menu.
-
This is much better now. This game is shaping up nicely. When the connectivity issues are resolved with the next release, I will finally have a game on my PC that I play more than I play Combat Mission.
-
How do I call for an extraction in this version? The spacebar menu has changed and I can't seem to locate where to call in for an extraction.
Thanks

An enjoyable read. A bit of bad luck with your PzIV running into so much armor all at once.

Your AMD CPU is probably even better than that for games. Those PR ratings are based on overall performance, but games are one of the Athlon processors main strengths. So I will be extremely surprised if you have any problems - it's not as though it wont run if it's a couple 100 MHz below anyway. </font>Originally posted by Bruce70:</font><blockquote>quote:</font><hr />Originally posted by Jack Carr:
The only sticky wicket as I see it is my processor which is an AMD Athlon XP 3200+. The raw clock speed is 2.2GHZ but it's supposed to be comparable to a P4 3.2GHZ processor.
