1. I think that if I'd never played CMBO and downloaded the CMBB demo, I'd probably be just as entranced as I was with the original. There's nothing else like this game out there. If your into WW2 in any way this game has got to be a must have. [ September 05, 2002, 07:19 PM: Message edited by: danvnuk ]
2. hmmmmm, I have to agree with you there. But I think the reason behind this, rather than anything negative regarding CMBB is that CMBO (when the demo came out) was so revolutionary to anything we'd seen before, I remember being amazed at the detail (with the stock CM graphics ) CMBO is a much enhanced game but we've all been spoilt by the original!
3. Fantastic. Thanks loads Ed. I haven't tried your tree's as yet. I'm downloading now and I'll give them a go. Dan
4. I seem to remember Tanks a lot putting out some great Hi Res Bunker mods quite a while back. I'm trying to rebuild my BMP folder and I can't locate these anywhere. I have checked all the 'usual suspects' web sites. Anyone got any idea where I can find them? Thanks in advance. Dan PS, While I'm at it. Whay dya think the best Tree, tree-base etc mods are to use with Gunnergoz's real grass? [ June 28, 2002, 07:39 PM: Message edited by: danvnuk ]
5. Hi, First off I know I should do a search first, as I know this has been discussed before but it's really slow with my terrible connection!! My question is what is the BMP number of the grass between the edge of the map and the horizon? Thanks in advance.. Dan
6. Hi, I've been playing CM for must be over a year and a half now, And used to 'lurk' in this forum pretty much everyday. Posted a couple of questions, dipped a toe into the 'Pool' a couple of times and then sold my PC 6 months ago, along with my copy of CM. I bought a replacement PC and very recently another copy of CM. I check in here for mod news etc and everythings the same, same people, same twisted and friendly humour and the same mature style of posting. (unlike some other Softwares Forums I might say) Anyway, I'd just thought I'd say how great this forum is and how much I've missed reading the interesting and sometimes hilarious posts. BTW Having been away for the past 6 months I must say the most Jaw Dropping Mod I've seen since being back is Toms Ardennes mod. What a fantstic piece of work, must say I never really liked the winter battles much but this mod puts a whole new slant on them. Also I must tip my hat to the latest version of CMMOS, I couldn't believe how advanced it has got. fantastic. Cheers, Dan
7. Think I'll post this, although not sure how interesting it is to you guys. Both my Grandfathers served in the British Army during WW2. One in the Signals (Joe), one in the Royal Engineers (Charlie). Sadly they have both passed away now, but as a child I was fascinated by the war and badgered them constantly for information. Joe (Royal Signals) joined up with about 30 of his workmates from a London Telephone Company. He served in India, Sicily, Italy and Normandy/Germany. He rarely talked about the War (although pestered by me!) but I remember him saying that the worse thing he saw was in Italy, His unit were stopped along a road and an Italian Farmer was ploughing a field with a tractor with children running alongside, the troops, to their horror saw yellow plastic Mines strung together(his words) wrap around the rear wheels of the farmers tractor as he was ploughing ( I presume these are daisy mines?) the troops shouted at the farmer to stop, but he couldn't hear them, when the mines Inevitably went off, they killed and maimed many of the children. He also said that of the 30 guys from work he joined up with only 5 or so actually came home alive and unwounded, he attributed this to the Germans mining and booby trapping telegraph poles and areas related to signals as they retreated. My other Grandfather (Charlie) served in North Africa, Sicily, Italy and Normandy and again spoke little of his experiences apart from that while taking part in the Normandy landings the Landing craft driver panicked whilst approaching the beach and turned back, (increasing their exposure to fire) whereupon my grandfathers CO, threatened to shoot him with his pistol unless he turned back to the beach. He also was with the first troops to liberate Belsen, whilst serving as a dispatch rider towards the end of the war (after being wounded when his truck ran over a mine consequently he was quite deaf)Although he never really spoke about it, apart from the confirmation he was there. The main feeling I got was that he loved being in the army (comparing it to being on holiday with all his mates!) I have some interesting photos he sent home, the most interesting being of him with another guy sitting in front of a pen of captured German soldiers, leaning on the wire, they are all smiling at the camera and all look happy. It seems strange to me, because possibly days or even hours before they would probably have been trying to kill each other. I Hope this of some interest [ 12-13-2001: Message edited by: danvnuk ]

8. Tom's website Definately says a CMMOS version of the Jeep Mod, looks like somethings missing to me. Or I could just be thick....no comments please!!!
9. Thanks for the answer...but not quiet what I was after. This is a CMMOS Mod, as such it goes into a certain ruleset, and the various bits have to go in the right folders. I'm stuck!
10. I've just downloaded Andrew Fox's Jeep (CMMOS Version) and have no idea how to install the files I have just unzipped. No instructions included! can anyone advise? Cheers
11. My Vote for the Daimler. Looks so out of place at present when standing alongside all the other allied mods.
12. The Daimler! it appears to be the only allied vehicle that hasn't been modded at some point. Correction, there is a mod, but its really old and doesn't match any other recent Brit mods.
13. Tanks a Lot, I'd appreciate a copy... dan.vaux-nobes@freeserve.co.uk Cheers
14. I really like these, much better than my present ones. If you could fire off a copy to, dan@vaux-nobes.freeserve.co.uk would be much appreciated. Cheers
15. sort of answering my own question here but in case anyones interested, I found Maguas German Halftracks at Der Kessel.
16. Anyone got any idea where I can get Maguas German Halftracks? I missed them first time around and the link at Combat Addiction is dead. It would also be real nice if someone could host or generally make available Gunslingers Jagtiger, as featured in Russelmz 'my mods' its really nice, but part of a 23meg zip of Gunslingers vehicle mods! bit of a hefty download for one mod! especially when your still using a modem. Cheers [ 11-05-2001: Message edited by: danvnuk ]

17. The panthers are there (COMBAT MISSIONS, Drop Zone section) The HT's don't appear to be. Wouldn't mind getting these myself
18.
quote:
Originally posted by Juju: Gyrene, in the top post you mention Felgrau's new Churchill. Can you please tell me where to get it?

Juju, Feldgraus CMMOS Churchills pack is at Manx's COMBAT MISSIONS
19. I have to mention this, although it isn't terrain, a DAIMLER AC!!! there is only one mod as far as I know, and it is really old. This vehicle (even with the mod) is very much the poor relation when playing as the Brits.
20. At last, FELDGRAUS Churchills!!! Been waiting for these!!! Ta Very Much!
21.
quote:
Originally posted by Pascal DI FOLCO: Danvnuk, I don't understand what sh*t happens, I just tried the link under IE5.5 and it's okay   But other people complained, so I'll ask my ISP... 22. Hi Pascal, I seem to be having problems with that download link, it gets to 99% and then times out. Its happened 3 times now. Oh...make that 4 times [ 10-16-2001: Message edited by: danvnuk ]
23. Having seen some very nice skies in various Pics on this board, (Maguas Normandy) I downloaded the files needed. The thing is, they don't seem to display properly. I remember getting some skies months ago, and re-naming the BMP's to force them to be displayed. Sadly I cant remember how I did this (it was a post on this board that helped!) I've tried doing a search, but the feature has become so slow its almost unusable! can anyone help me out here? Thanks in advance  [ 10-15-2001: Message edited by: danvnuk ] [ 10-15-2001: Message edited by: danvnuk ]
