1.
quote:
Originally posted by panzerwerfer42: Are you sure? I know there was an asbestos glove included in the crew kit for MG-34/42. There was also an asbestos pad for laying it on to cool.

yeah theres one for the 240b also but when it really starts hitting the fan nobody uses them. in the u.s. army at least they almost never use them, only to make the brass and politicians happy. i distinctly remember one of the great thing about the 42 is the fact that it had the handle that made it so you didnt need the glove. it got issued but from what i understand if you werent in a fixed position firing thousands of rounds then it was never used.
2.
quote:
Originally posted by Triumvir: Speaking of MGs, is it true that you need an asbestos glove to change the barrel of an MG42, same as with an M60?

no you didnt it had a handle on it that you grab. still cant figure out why they didnt include it with the m60 but i think its on the m240b (the new replacement for the m60)
3. I want to know why once you go through it it doesnt make a hole the infantry and other units can go through. im assuming just hard to code
4. i really want to see a pop up command. a tank will reload behind a hill or tree line or something then move to a hull down position or out of cover just far enough to shoot then back to cover. its not just something i would like to see i think it is a major detail left out of cmbo. it was used all the time its a standard tactic tankers used. especialy for u.s. because they couldnt slug it out with the germans my .02
5. my favorite thing to do is leave everybody out of the city then level it with arty and armor. it either turns everything to rubble or lights the buildings on fire. either way its pretty fricking cool. after i destroy a chunk of the city i move everybody in and hit them hard and close.
6. yeah thats true trp's should make it faster to call in artillery but in my experiences arty is not very well represented.it should be that it has a graduated time circle with like 15 seconds in the middle and a couple hundred meters out 3 minutes but if your just adjusting then it shouldnt be any different then normal. also the accuracy in the game is horrible. my dad was a forward observer and he said to pass you had to be able to hit a car within like 3 minutes or something like that with a 105. in this game the fo's cant even hit a huge building with any amount of accuracy. while im moaning about artillery there should be more commands too. artillery should have like a walking command, full battery in a line then reload and target 20 meters farther then reload etc. sorry if i got off subject
7. just wondering how come fire doesnt put out any light. if a unit is next to a burning building or another burning unit it should be as visible as in the daytime. is this too hard to model or am i just missing it in the game. thanks
8. I wanna be a demo guy just put me as (whatever rank) nathan
9. sorry didnt mean every roadblock could be cleared in 10 minutes but there are so many different kinds of roadblocks everything from wood and barbed wire to reinforced concrete. i just doubt that every roadblock in all the little country dirt roads throughout europe were built with reinforced concrete structures. i realize that it would be impossible to show every kind of roadblock im just saying that the whole reason combat engineers were formed is for mobility/counter mobility war. The whole reason they exist is to clear minefields and roadblocks in the shortest amount of time possible. of course im not saying that every roadblock can be blown in 10 minutes but in the countryside these roadblocks were quite often just felled trees with some kind of support to stop or slow down armored units most of the time what made a roadblock wasnt the actual roadblock itself but the guy with the bazooka sitting next to it. all the roadblock did was make the tank stop for long enough for that guy or guys to pull off a proper ambush. sorry this got long and rambling
10. I have recently joined the army and my occupation is combat engineer. so i have been doing as much as possible to find out about my job as possible and one of those is studying ww2 engineer units and let me tell you any engineer unit that takes more than 10 minutes to clear an obstacle like a roadblock isnt worth jack. the only thing that should take that long is bridge demolition(wich could take hours) and bunker formations. one idea is to have engineer trucks that carry a bunch of explosive and when they are close enough to the engineer units they alow them to blow up obstacles and stuff like that.
