@BFCElvis Why in the world was I timed out for the cmbn tournament when we

    1. had an active game going

and 2. My opponent did not return the initial turns for days.

So I'm the person who gets the short end of the stick?

I can't help that I have a day job and my opponent is more than likely european given their active times. Point being we are limited to a single turn a day each

Im not sure how the timed out feature works. But there have been some scoring issues, I think some players lost pts. I know I lost alot.

Also keep in mind guys, these tourneys are still a work in progress. Its not perfect and will never be, but they are trying to make the best of it.

I just looked at the original scenario and there is an Exit zone for the Germans. It's Objective 8, runs down the right side and a small part of the 'top' of the map.

Interesting, so then the objective needs to be deleted and not only the exit zone. Though probably won’t be a factor in this since there is no exit pts given for this. And unlikely an Axis player will move troops to the very back of the map. But they could panic and do this, they were about to be killed anyway.

For the Tournaments I would definitely do this too, rather than surrender. That way you at least get a CM score.

In this battle I dont think it matters since the Germans get no friendly or enemy cas pts at all. Doesnt seem fair to Axis, I took 52 infantry losses and one SU76. But Axis get zero pts. for this. Whether its played out, cease fired or surrendered wouldn't change this.

But yes generally speaking I too like to stick it out to the bitter end. It can be fun being a thorn in your opponents side. However in this battle he was down to his FO team that was literally staring at the entire Soviet force. This battle was cooked!

I am trying to motivate them with Vodka! They need a liquid morale boost!

@BFCElvis it is safe to surrender the game and my opponent gets the correct CM score?

I take it you tried to surrender that last turn? I got an error after the replay. Tried reloading the game a 2nd time and got same error after replay. But was able to play and process the turn without a problem. I vaguely recall this happening a few tourneys back, its like a false error since we were able to finish the game normally. Maybe the surrender will go through next turn. But if need be I'll cease fire next turn.

Dude, what the actual **** is wrong with the steam versions of these games.

Edit: Just tested it, US engineers sure can mark mines, just not in the tournament game. Does anyone else have this issue? WTF?

Mine did no problem. Bear in mind it can take several mins to do so. Also depending on the type of mines (mixed, AT, or AP) it can take longer.

These are the problems you get when you play a chess style tournament with a wargame.

Works for chess.  every piece for both sides have the same capabilities, setup is also always identical and how to win is known from the start.

Not so much for wargames. uneven force size, uneven setup, uneven capabilities and uneven victory conditions.

Very easy for an unscrupulous player to shop the system in their favour

Bring back the ROW style of tournament

In a mirror tourney any pros or cons from force balance or terrain is somewhat irrelevant. Since both players play both sides. So it’s more about tactical skill.
What do you mean by “shop the system”? If a player deliberately quits a game or just stops playing. Then he’s losing pts for both himself and his opponent.

I have never played in a tournament before and may be interest next round.

I was looking at the scoring on Matrix’s site and was curious as to how that is determined?

I attached screenshots for reference. If someone could pick one of the scores from that image and explain to me how that score is calculated that would be much appreciated!

I think it gives 1 pt to the winner of a single turn. Which is determined by who got most kills for that turn. It’s kinda meaningless since the scores get reverted in the end to the in-game score. Win or lose you get far more points for finishing the battles.

Dude I just spent an hour of work on a turn in cmcw and it all disappeared.

I saved the game, left, and reloaded it from the saved games folder. My work was gone. Fine. It wasn't much anyway. But then I submitted the turn after redoing absolutely everything and the turn never sent. The file was originally 002, but changed to 003 when I saved it. When I reloaded 003 and submitted it, it saved as 004.

@BFCElvis can you please check and see if my turn went through? Sorry to be a pain but I don't want to redo all of this. Hopefully the naming discrepancy is at fault here and my turn still sent.

I was the US defender submitting file "004" in CMCW

Quoting myself from the CMRT tourney:

Quick reminder, you can’t save a game and return to it later. So for the German defender with lots of fortifications and freedom to make their own defense setup. This can take awhile. So if you need a break, dinners ready, baby’s crying, etc, either leave the game running or alt-tab to minimize the game.

Also completely ignore any tourney files that show up in your saved games & PBEM list. These will not get sent to your opponent. Only play the ones under PBEM ++ in Progress list.

This is correct. No files will ever be stored locally on your computer and work.

Ok then this should probably be part of the tourney info/instructions. Just a reminder that save and finish later isn’t supported. And to ignore any tourney files that show up in the saved games & PBEM list. I know trying to keep it short and sweet to avoid TLDR! 😅

For some reason I currently only have one side of the battles turns being sent to me, @imported_TREAD_HEAD I believe we are up against each other and I am only getting my US turns showing in my PBEM folder in game I don't know if you have both sides turns showing up correctly or not? Currently I have turn 3 available to play for US and still no Soviet turn showing.

I only managed to do the first round due to my PC dying in round 2 but didn't have this issue with the holiday tourney last time not sure if anyone else has the same issue.

Something I've discovered that can cause confusion. If you load a game up and just quit (no saving or clicking Go). The game will auto-create a save game anyway in your "Saved Games & PBEM" list. Thus giving the player the impression these are the files to play. Which they are not. Double check that you are loading the files from the Automated PBEM++ In Progress list. These will go through. If you play the files from the other saved games list then they go no where.

I just made this mistake myself with my Soviet setup in the CMRT tourney. Checked this with CMBN and it behaves the same way.

Also and Im a bit fuzzy on this, @BFCElvis help me out here, this also means these tourneys do not support save a turn and finish later. So save games generated either from quitting (auto saves described above) or player created saves wont get sent. I vaguely remember hearing this in the past. I just so rarely see this as once I load a battle I play it without quitting or saving it.

In preparation for the tournament, I watched a video, as one does.

The 'saved games & PBEM options' are different from what the YouTuber was showing. This is what I have on CW v1.06

Do I get turns in email or how will this work with the functionality I have? Upgrading to 1.07 isn't an option due to the unit renaming bug.

    Thanks.

    H

Gotta be on 1.07 to get the PBEM++ system. And or grab your Steam key and have 2 different installs of the game.
