Results: 30.87s are still tops in everything. AA works and has the best framerates. My framerates varied from 40fps to 70fps. 41.09s are next best with no AA and similar framerates. 43.45s are just atrocious. During setup i had around 2 fps. During gameplay it improved to 10-15fps.
Summary: Stick with 30.87s.
I'll put up 3dMark2001SE scores in a bit to see how they do in other games.

The new 43.45 drivers haven't fixed the AA problems.

Early in the war Russian players can rush ATGs with KVs and T-34s pretty easily. Also in '43 Tigers can usually pull it off with low risk.

I got slow downs with the 4x.xx series of drivers with my 4600. My best luck is with the 30.82s, but as you said it's not certain if those will work with the FX.

The germans did have 13 and 15mm MGs that were mostly used in aircraft. Some did make their way onto infantry mounts, but they weren't especialy common.

The 128mm Flak was converted to a Pak gun. It's in CM as the Pak 44. It wasn't terribly useful due to it's massive silhouette and it was just plain overkill. The 100mm gun JasonC talked about is actually the K18 105mm gun. It was a long range artillery piece thrown into the AT role when nothing else could do the job. They weren't terribly common, equipping only a few battalions in the panzer divisions. The most famous example of one being used is 4th Panzer Divisions engagement with Katukov's armor brigade on October 6th 1941. This engagement is titled "Katukov Strikes Back" on the cm cd.

The accuracy would be crap on a mixed clip. AP and HE have pretty different ballistic characteristics, which is why there are seperate settings on gunsights for the two. This wouldnt matter at point blank but any sort of ranged shooting it would be all over the field.

Is this a Dell or Compaq or something of that sort? Have you upgraded anything from the original configuration? Alot of your symptoms sound like an inadequate or low quality power supply which big OEM computers often ship with. I had similar experiences when I tried to replace my old TNT2 with a Ti4600. The power supply was the bare minimum and didnt like the extra juice the 4600 required.

Norton should leave an icon on the right end of the toolbar near the clock. Right click on that and it should bring up a menu including disabling auto-protect. The icon should stay there enabling you to reactivate it when done. Always turn off anti-virus when burning a CD. I've had an 8x write turn into a sub 1x speed before i noticed norton was still on.

People have noticed platoon HQs seem to be more effective tank killers than any other infantry unit.

Wow that's quite a bit of damage. That isn't normal in a bird strike. My dad was a jet engine mechanic in the Air Force and would ocasionally take me into his shop. One time he showed me an engine from an A-10 that had taken a goose through it. He said it didn't really have any damage but was taken out to verify that. The only way you could even tell a bird had gone through was some black crud fried to some of the turbine blades. So no real damage from that bird strike.

The Panther had a much smaller set of schuerzen. They were just flat panels that hung down to cover the vertical armor visible above the road wheels. The rest of the tanks armor was thick enough not to bother. No less of a source than Guderian said that schuerzen were developed for protection against AT rifles. They work by deforming the bullets nose or flipping the projectile off axis so it doesn't impact straight on its nose. Anyone who has hunted and shot through thick undergrowth will understand how even the slightest impact with a twig can knock a bullet off target.

One of the SMG gunners is acting as the LMGs loader at longer range so he doesn't use his SMG. At close range he stops acting as a loader and uses his SMG since that adds more firepower than his acting as a loader. Since the LMG no longer has a second man to reload its firepower drops off at close range.

Barrel length in calibres. Multiply the guns diameter by the number after the L to get its length in mm. length. Ex 50mm X 60 calibres equals 3000mm or 3m. A longer barrel is generally better. Ex the 75mm L48 gun isn't as good as the 75mm L70 gun.

I believe the Russians didn't send Saddam their highest quality stuff. I think they only sell stripped down export versions of their weapons.

Yep, it was re-chambered to take the ammo from a Pak 40 which used a better shaped projectile. One of the Marder variants used this gun.

The shermans gun is as good or better than the T-34s (76.2mm variety). The 85mm is basically the same as the American 76mm gun, but with better HE. Frontal armor on the sherman is just as good, but the T-34s sides are alot better, though that doesnt really mean a lot.
