  1. Have you tried fighting the entire battle from the grunt's level? A fellow posted one time that this was the only way to play and that it made for a much tighter game and prevented us from taking advantage over the computer player. I agree with the philosophy of playing at only Level 1 for inf and 2 for tanks, but, man is it hard! For one thing it becomes extraordinarily difficult to manage your way around the battlefield, as you can only hop from one unit to another (using the + and - keys) instead of skying up to figure out where you want to visit next. Makes for tuff long distance orders too, as it is very risky to give a move order to a place over a ridgeline which you can't see. It is possible to get binocular views (using the [ and ] keys, but only from co's tanks, mortars, etc. I have played games like this, generally small ones, and it makes the game very exciting. Try giving yourself only one playback too, or none at all! "Hey, who blasted that panther?!" Select one co as yourself, and all of a sudden self preservation takes on a whole new meaning. I do find it difficult to play an entire game this way, and have never been able to do it against another player, wouldn't even attempt it, but you really should give it a try for realism sake and especially if the computer fails to challenge you fully. Cheers!
  2. Thanks, Guys! I bought a new computer with a GForce3 mx, so should be able to handle everything. I've noticed Madd Matt's terrain came across fine. But I've downloaded the Sherman mods and played with Shermans since and haven't noticed any difference. Some of the mods have absolutely no explanation as to what they are supposed to do, so have no clue. I followed instructions pretty carefully, but will go back and check everything again and see if I can figure it out and then try some more mods and see if they work.
  3. Were any of the mods out there incorporated in version 1.12? I've downloaded some that don't seem to do anything.
  4. "Hey everybody; my cat ate my CD, so, uh, I can't play TCP/IP tonite. Gee, I'm really sorry." Worst damn excuse I've ever heard! Have you ever thought about giving your cat an enema. I swear that must be the largest stainless steel device I've ever seen! "Here kitty, kittie. Daddy's gonna teach you to never, ever touch his cd's again. Now bend over and cough!"
  5. Yikes! The formatting really did come out all wrong! I tried to split the screen. Rats! Is there any way I can kill it and start again?

  7. Will adding mods make me incompatible with other players online who might not have the exact same mods? My best friend says that if I add mods we may not be able to play against one another. I don't think so, but thought I'd get some input from you guys. Thanks in advance!
  8. How about my question of how much recoiless rifles were used in WWII. Thoughts anyone?
  9. I've noticed a lot more air bursts with the 81mm mortar, so I'll wager its the trajectory and the air burst factor that make it so tuff.
  10. I had a blast with a Crocodile/Churchill combination punch with two platoons of inf. The Croc. could do nothing except play ring around the rosie with a Hetzer at short range, but you should have seen him light up the wheatfields. The Churchill's survivability factor and havy arsenal make it a formidible opponent. I never really understood the concept of an infantry support vehicle (even after East/West Front) until using the Churchill in this game.
  11. Thanks for the info, guys! I don't recall seeing many photos of recoiless rifles-particularly German-WWII era, so was unsure how much action they saw. Do know that they were used extensively in Korea and later conflicts quite a bit as they were easy to mount on jeeps. Didn't want to feature them too much in my mix if they weren't used that much, because the two times I have used them they were extremely deadly and proved hard to take out. Shawn
  12. Hello Lads, and thanks for the advice on loading the 1.12 patch. I'm now "gameable online" and even got the lumps on my haid last night to prove it!! Are the Recoiless Rifles the Germans use the same thing as the Gehrlich Gun? This was the gun that squeezed the shell (size?)to create an incredible muzzle velocity. I used the 75mm with great effect against a Sherman and a Priest while the oncoming suppresive fire had a terrible time trying to locate me. Also, is the 105mm Recoiless an AT or AP weapon? Thanks in advance.
  13. Might someone provide the link or tell me where on the website I might find the Panzerknacker Boot Camp articles? Thanks much.
  14. Hi Guys. Any advice on a problem I'm having appreciated. Only play against AI, but now ready to branch out and play on internet. Tried agains a buddy who bought the game with 1.12 already on the CD. I downloaded the 1.12 version and made sure it went into the game file (didn't zip-so no typical prob with that stuff). But upon trying to fire it up, we get an incompatible games message. Any ideas? Neither of us have downloaded mods either. I'm guessing my 1.12 is not really installed on the Hard Drive, but it looks like it is. First guy who helps me and can get me up and running can have a go at my M4A1 with his favorite Cat! Thanks in advance. Shawn
