  1. Yeah, I don't know what Redwolf is talking about. As far as the rules for maintaining C2 links are concerned the only random elements that I am aware of is that radios don't work consistently, and if you play on Iron difficulty then friendly units don't automatically spot each other when in LOS. That is by design. .
  2. As I stated above, just play them as a Probe instead of Attack. I also prefer to play with random weather. Not only for the realism but because bad weather tends to favor the defender, IMO.
  3. How many months did that take? Steve said MG was mostly done in March. The fact is you don't know how long, or how many man hours, or how much money. You have no factual basis for your analysis. 1) CMBN released May 2011. 2) CMBN:CW 3) CMFI 4) CMFI:GL released May 2013 My math says that is one CMx2 product every 6 months, on average. What was the intended pace previously stated by BFC?
  4. So adding infantry formations is too inefficient? I'm pretty sure the East Front game will have a lot of new infantry formations, lol. How would you suggest speeding up the process of making modules? Your arguments are schizophrenic. You acknowledge the need to serve customers of existing products but want BFC to cancel the efforts to do so. I can't make heads or tails of that last paragraph. Are you saying BFC should reduce the amount of content in the Market Garden module but charge the same price for it?
  5. I'm sure as heck not going to start a new thread. The problem with staying strictly "on-topic" is that there hasn't been any new news in quite some time, so we are reduced to overviews and recaps. Looking back, this thread was basically dead until Redwolf started handing out free financial advice and I predict it will die again pretty fast when that blows over. EDIT: And actually, although I think Redwolf is full of beans it is true that Steve did openly discuss the possibility of canceling MG in his OP, so it's not off-topic.
  6. It sounds to me that what you are saying boils down to that BFC should stop making modules.
  7. But the 60mm of armor is sloped at 45-50 degrees, making it proof against US and British 75mm. The latest model of Jpz IV has 80mm armor, which IIRC only US 76mm HVAP, UK 17 pdr and 6 pdr APDS will reliably penetrate. As for the Stug, IMO they are probably worth the points vs. US or UK 75mm armed opposition but not against 76mm, although I have seen 76mm bounce off Stugs on occasion, and I've seen others report good success with them in PBEMs. I agree they are better used on large maps, as with all turretless AFVs.
  8. You do know that Market Garden is an expansion for CMBN rather than a new game, right? Many of your comments suggest you do not appreciate the difference.
  9. It's not there. You have to look it up or write it down for future reference (what I have done for infantry). This was talked about when the game came out. BFC indicated that they intend to implement some CMx1-type of information display whenever they get around to overhauling the QB system, which they said might be done for the first East Front game. But that was 2 years ago and I have no idea what the status of that is now.
  10. I can't find it now, but I recall reading a post on the forum to the effect that destroyed AT guns do not count in either the unit kill stats or the end game totals. You also do not get any victory points for killing them (I'm assuming this is in QBs). It's probably a bug, but I've never got around to testing it myself to make sure.
  11. They should probably cancel Shock Force 2 while they're at it.
  12. Sounds like if GaJ had just taken c3k's advice and launched an all-out counter attack he may have won
  13. Given equal forces I would rather be the defender any day, on any map.
  14. I think this is true. The .50 cal rounds Michael acquired are now in the crew's pockets. The problem is that AFAIK the game does not allow ammo sharing with vehicles. So if there is a tripod-mounted M2 .50 cal team in the same formation as the halftrack he could dismount the crew and they would share with that. Otherwise that ammo is effectively gone.
  15. Generally true, although I have noticed that machine guns are now very effective for suppressing defenders... once you know where they are. I think the rule of thumb for QBs right now is to play attack/defend games under the Probe setting unless the map is favorable to the defense, i.e. close terrain and plenty of space for defense in depth.
  16. If you look a little closer it kinda does. The problem with your numbers is that you are only looking at one version of each product, while in actuality there are 2 versions of CMBB on Amazon by 2 different publishers and 3 versions of CMBO -- 2 boxed versions and a download, each with it's own separate sales data. CMBB Strategy First #16,521 (seems to have dropped in popularity since you posted ) CMBB Battlefront.com #32,243 CMBO Softek International #31,154 CMBO Strategy First physical copy #35,198 CMBO Strategy First download #4,448 So the highest selling BFC product on Amazon is CMBO, and by a large margin. Close Combat 4: The Battle of the Bulge #27,277
  17. There is anecdotal evidence to that effect, but I think it mostly pertains to QBs rather than scenarios and specifically to the Attack setting as that has traditionally been the default. There are 2 issues at work. One is that the Attack QB setting gives the attacker a higher purchase points advantage in CMx2 than it did in CMx1. The CMx2 purchase points ratio equivalent of a CMx1 Attack is the Probe setting. Secondly, small maps mean less opportunity for defense in depth. My (so far) limited PBEM experience is that when playing on a large-ish map (2 km² minimum) with VLs located deep in the defender's setup zone it is not a gimme for the attacker and if combined with the Probe setting would be very challenging, but I need more experience to say for sure.
  18. The whole idea of cancelling MG is nuts. Market Garden is not a stand-alone product. It is an expansion for the Normandy game, so there is a huge existing installed base that MG will appeal to beyond those who are only narrowly interested in Operation Market-Garden itself.
