Is there any way to de-emphasize the "square" in the rubble tile? I know it mimics the bldng. shape, but in large city maps, it might look less repetative.

If I didn't have to do so much photoshop of my own work right now, I might try it, but it would be nice to have a pro's advice.

I'm not much of a pro, but it's very simple to make the base bmp any shape you want - Just go at it with a non-anti aliased brush tool in the pink masking color.

Good idea, btw, I'll see what I can come up with.

Tanks a Lot - It gets their attention, see? ;)

I have the settings for SnapzPro pretty much worked out for a mix of quality vs size (The originals are about 6mb) let me know if you need any help.

Time to put that Dual Gig of yours to work!

[P.S.: And just how did you do the movie? That would be a cool tool to use for a tactics demonstration project.]

The T34 hit the ST...Twice. You can't see it on the web movie but it's clear on the original capture.

I used SnapzPro 2 for capture and Cleaner 5 for compression.

    Here's the next:Ferdinand firing. (860k)

I would imagine even a few (20mm) ATR's will be enough to send these beasts packing.</font>

I think its because the Western Front seems more personal for most of the players (I mean, how many Russians are buying the game?)

Also, the game is almost TOO good-looking. The last game's popularity appeared propelled by the mod-community, who, I think, built an avid following and excitement by designing stuff better than the original. Now that will be more of a challenge.

Good God guys, I hope I'm wrong. Meanwhile, I'm on the hunt for topo-maps for scenario design -- and its damn difficult.

I sort of agree with you there Franko.

I got CMBB mostly for the improvements in game play rather than for the whole Eastern Front thing.

The fact that many CW & US vehicles are in the mix would make alternative scenarios (I.e. Western Europe & Desert) possible with CMBB, although I'm sure this will remain a minority use of the game.

I find myself not particularly caring about any of the sides, although I'll still favor playing the non-Axis forces.

We have to remember that CMBO was unlike anything before it and it's a very hard act to follow.

For instance, deleting files. Within OS 9, deleting thousands of files can be very slow.

Heck, after the install, if you were watching, there are a couple of moments (maybe up to a minute) of overall slowness in the system. That is the file system going "HOLY SH*T!!". Then it gets over it and things are back to normal.

I think it as more to do with the installer compression system used in the Mac version more than anything...

It took about 40 minutes with my 40x12x40x firewire drive. (Much faster than the internal 16x DVD ROM)

I will be acquiring a G4 this week so I hope to see some improvement or at least more of all the hard work applied to the visuals.

If you can, I would strongly urge you to order it with the GeF 4600 Ti card. On my 2MX with 32MB VRAM the vehicle textures show up nicely, but the grass on the steppes is obviously being downsampled in a way that I find distracting. That shows up in the 1 and 2 views at 800X600.

  9. Having just received the game this morning and feeling very gamey I decided to set up a QB to see just how BFC modelled the M17 GMC...

    Two words:Kick Ass!

The QB was a 1000 point affair and I purchased as many M17's as I could for the money and a sole BA64 with the remainder (Which incidently takes the Cutest Vehicle title away from the Jeep in my opinion...Little clown AC!)

The computer must have been sensing my mood and obliged me by randomly picking a Battalion of conscript Finns backed up by a sole BA10...

I initiated a sweep down both flanks and was fearing that I might run into a Stug or two but I reached the far edge of the map unmolested and then the slaughter began.

The carnage was such that I started feeling bad for the enemy, hordes of panicky troops would suddenly be flushed out of cover like so many über quail only to run right into more awaiting M17's.

The top scoring M17 got 59 infantry kills and some of the sweeping ones were in the high 30's before they ran out of ammo.

The little BA64 didn't hit a single thing.

Incidently the Finnish BA10 got one shot off before it got ventilated.

These M17's are nasty...I can see their abuse in ladder games in the future.

Too bad the M16 never made it in CMBO, but this more than makes it up!
