  1. Does any documentation about how to play the game come with the demo?
  2. I have to agree that a good demo can heavily influence a game's sales. I passed on purchasing CMBB partially because I was turned off by the scenarios included in the demo. I had no intention of buying CMAK but between the AAR on the wargamer.com site and playing the demo scenarios, I just had to have the game. Now, if I can just find some time to play it...
  3. I am not sure about creating an entire CM game on the Pacific theater. It would seem to me that it would be too “infantry” and attrition oriented. My impression is that even the use of armor was mostly in support of infantry.
  4. Strontium Dog, In the sample picture of your summer gridded terrain, what trees are you using? I like your mod but it tends to contrast a bit too much with ground around the trees I am using. Thanks.
  5. Where can these gridded terrain mods be found? Using a grid to measure distance may be a little gamey, but they sure do help when it comes to getting a feel for the "lay of the land". At times it is difficult to see hills and valleys from some of the view levels. I only wish these grids could be turned on and off during a game...
  6. Strategy deals more with planning. Tactics deal more with the execution of a plan. So, for example, in Combat Mission, the decision to seize a building or a hill is a strategy decision whereas the actual issuing of commands to the units involved in the attack deals with tactics. When you are looking over a Combat Mission map and deciding what to do you are dealing with strategy. When you actually click on a unit and issue a command you are dealing with tactics.
  7. There was a post a month or two ago regarding unit bases that I thought was very clever. In that message, it was suggested that it should be possible to modify, during a game, the colors of the unit bases for each unit type or platoon. For example, it would be nice to be able to make all Forward Observers one color, all armored vehicles another color, all bazooka teams another color... It would also be nice to be able to assign a base color to all the units of a particular platoon. I believe this would facilitate the organizing of units and enhance/speed up game play. At it is now, it can take time to find your FOs, bazooka teams...
  8. I would think that once an allied tank plows through the bocage, it would be easier for any following tracked vehicles to get through. Perhaps "bocage rubble" should be created after an allied tank passes through the bocage.
  9. Actually, the most amazing thing about this thread is that someone who has a high/late member number of 5686 was able to reserve a cool name like "Tungsten". I can't believe someone would not have already taken this name.
  10. This is very interesting. If these things happened in CM, I am sure some players would be complaining about the AI.
  11. Frankly, other strategy games seem like toys compared to CM. It is now difficult to believe that I found games like Warcraft and Starcraft addictive. Even Steel Panthers, which I spent many hours playing, pales in comparison to CM.
  12. To facilitate the playing of CM, it would be nice to be able to right click on a unit and select a custom color for the unit’s base. This would help keep the units organized. For example, I might make the unit bases of all of the squads of one platoon red, the unit bases of all of the squads of another platoon orange, the unit bases of all FOs blue and so forth.
  13. As far as I and my friends/coworkers are concerned, cooperative mode is the most desired feature for CM's sequels. Imagine the level of "Command and Control" realism this would bring.
