  1. I just downloaded both, file 1 is 55MB and file 2 is 52MB. No problems with extraction. No need to even open part 2, just extract from part 1, as long as part 2 is in the same folder, it will extract the rest from it.
  2. Yeah, and that guy should release the dang things already! They look ready to me.
  3. I didn't give up, but the sanity part is in question. I probably should spend the next 14 months recovering from the last 14 months.
  4. Thanks Mord. Yeah, I sometimes think I could have built 16 real houses quicker than these ones.
  5. I believe patboy is working on modular buildings, I'll let him take care of those. I've done 3 of the 8 barns, so if I release anything after these, it will be the barns.
  6. Coming soon... 16 brand new buildings. They are totally from scratch, and replace all 16 of the independent houses in the game. Bases have been removed, grass and plants/bushes have been added, so they fit in with the ground more naturally. All 16 have new roofs, including 9 completely unique ones. They are basically finished at this point, the reason this is a preview and not a release thread is that I'll need to wait for the 2.0 upgrade to come out. I have no idea what effect this upgrade might have on the buildings, and if any changes will be needed. I hope they'll be worth the wait. I'd like to give a huge thanks to Juju, for his tireless testing, and super suggestions. On to the preview! if you want to view multiple images of each building, the following link will take you to my Photobucket album. The picture just shows what the album looks like. Once inside the album, you can click on any thumbnail and it will enlarge, a 2nd click will show it in full size: Click here to see my CM:BN buildings album If you would rather watch a full-size slideshow of those same pictures, click the link below: Click here to view a slideshow of my CM:BN buildings I should give one full-size preview, this is a new building that hasn't been previewed before: Anyway, I hope you'll like them.
  7. Yeah, they replace the stock buildings. I thought about renumbering them, but then they would only show up when specifically added to a scenario.
  8. Thanks patboy. I don't really plan on doing any commercial buildings, the barns would be next, since I've already got 3 that are nearly ready. Maybe a church or 2 after that, but I'd like to actually start playing the game at some point.
  9. It is the 16th building, but I skipped one of the 2-story buildings, so I still have that to do. Also, there are still a number of fixes/improvements I'd like to do on some of the earlier ones. I can't really say how long it will take, hopefully late August or early September.
  10. I thought your last UI mod was as good as it gets, I think this one is even gooder, your goodest yet. Beautiful work!
  11. Photoshop would be the best bet for the program to use. If that's not an option, there are some pretty powerful free programs out there. Being able to work with layers is a must IMO. If I was just starting to mod, buildings probably wouldn't be my first choice. I'm not trying to discourage you in any way, but these buildings have been a lot harder for me to do than the ones in CMx1. I haven't tried modding anything else in this game, so everything might be tougher as far as I know. The size and position of all the windows and doors are locked into place, that limits some of the creativity I would have liked. Lots of textures are flipped, stretched, compressed and misaligned, which adds to the challenge. For the most part, it comes down to what your goal is. If it's just swapping out some walls, and leaving the rest intact, that wouldn't be very hard. If it's basically replacing everything, like I'm doing, that's another story. I hope that helps.
  12. I can't speak for patboy, heck, I can't speak for myself, since I don't know when I'll finish. I am one step closer though, here's my latest:
  13. No, I'm not much of an interior decorator. Doing the exterior is good enough for me.
  14. @Rake: Thanks for the comments. For your 1st question, the material I used for the walls has no bearing on the toughness of a building, it's purely visual. I have no idea which building models might be sturdier than others, nobody told me, so I just make 'em however I want. About your 2nd question, I'm using the exact same resolution as the originals, actually, the upper window is lower than default texture. These buildings are from scratch, so the originals BMPs are only used to help find boundaries for doors, windows etc... Everything external is completely new except the gutters, and that's only because they don't play nice. I hope that helps.
  15. Thanks Fuser, I wish I could do your magic with vehicles.
  16. Thanks. I'm more or less done with 12 of the 16 regular, independent houses. I'd like to finish the last 4 before releasing anything. It's too hard to predict when all 16 will be done, maybe 2-3 months, no guarantees though. Here's a screenshot of my latest one:
  17. Remember, only 4 of them have that issue with the missing interior floor, the rest don't have that problem.
  18. No problems spotting these TRPs, and they are pretty too. Thanks Juju.
