However, with a fast computer where the screen scrolls silky smooth even with hi-res grass, then playing the game becomes enjoyable again. And to be honest with you, a fast computer really does change the way you "see" the game. I can't even begin to phathom how people try to play the game on a less than 300 MHz computer with less than a 16 MB video card. My old Celeron 433 with a 32MB TNT2 was pokin' along there at the end.

Yep, I just purchased a 1.5gig 256meg Ultra 64 monster, and the level of enjoyment from my old 300mhz 64 meg machine is substantial. I'd get a slide show on the old machine when too much was going on and would have to run the replay several times. Now I run the replay several times just because I love how this game looks!!!
2. I've recently purchased a new machine running ME as well. I've had absolutely no issues with CM. Has worked like a charm since installation. (about a month ago) Good luck
3.
quote:
Originally posted by Vanir Ausf B: Exactly. Good point. Which reinforces my point that if the game is going to put you in the shoes of a tank commander (which it does) [ 04-09-2001: Message edited by: Vanir Ausf B ]

Actually IMHO I don't believe it does put you in as tank commander. You are the commander of the tank commander. You order movement and targets (if you wish) and the tank commander enacts your orders. This is why there is a command pause. The crew and leader is diseminating your orders
4. I'm trusting there was a good reason to go with this format..... New isn't necessarily a bad thing.
5. Yes, however we'll certainly not get the map back as it was in that game. The only reason I wanted to get this file back is because as the defender, I really had fought the entire battle in a sense. Placement of static guns and minefields and all of the planning that goes with it is 80% of the battle. The rest is cruise control. A lot of brain cells died for nought. Take care ------------------ Lt.Reaper
6. I just realized how ridiculous it would be to post an answer (if one even exists) to this dilemma. National Security concerns and all. Maybe we could send this file to Roosevelt's (BTS)crack staff of decoders who might agree to jimmy the lock on this file and extract the forgotten password for us? As if they are just sitting around waiting for me to send them something to do..... ------------------ Lt.Reaper
7. I began a new pbem match with my brother. We both have completed our set ups. (attack/defend with me as defender) He then goes on a 2 week vacation in the breezy drizzle of South Carolina comes back and tells me that he can't remember his password! Now I've put considerable time and effort into the set up and placement of my troops, and Mr.Margaritaville tells me he has absolutely no clue (one of the reasons I enjoy playing him) as to what his password was. Please is there any way at all to bypass this little problem? ------------------ Lt.Reaper
8. Gremlin I just wanted to commend you on the above mentioned turorial, I used your "hunt on the crest of a hill method" to very fine results in a battle I just completed. Took out 2 nme mobile arty pieces. ------------------ Lt.Reaper
9. Hello my name is Chuck <<Hello Chuck>> I'm 42 years old and have been a CMaholic for 2 months now. I see it in my sleep, I work out pbem battle strategies at the office, I've renamed my dog Sherman. Please can someone help me..... ------------------ Lt.Reaper
10. oops. Sorry about the repetition. I see that there was already a thread on this topic. My apologies all. S! ------------------ Lt.Reaper
11. Can an ongoing pbem game be turned into a TCP/IP match? i.e. my e-mail buddy and I have a couple of hours to kill and want to play our current pbem match live? Thanks in advance ------------------ Lt.Reaper
12. How about a complete replay of your battle available upon completion of the game? Your own little feature film by which to learn many valuable lessons. I wonder how much drive space a feature like that would take up in a 60 turn scenario. ------------------ Lt.Reaper
13. Does the full version game allow for a complete playback of the battle once it's been completed? Thanks in advance! ------------------ Lt.Reaper
