  1. I just loaded WINXP and am finding this "white translucence" problem that seems to be old to everyone but me. Just loaded the newest nVidia drivers for my Ultra 2 and the problem still exists. This is extremely annoying as when I'm attempting to save my game file, I cannot see the box and what I'm typing at all. And at this point, you cannot escape to desktop and clear it up. What is a gamer to do? Are there any fixes on the horizon for this????

  3. Dog, I just wanted to let you know what a great site you have. Scenarios add constant freshness to this great game, but who wants to labor through a boatload of bad ones to get to the creme? You provide an incredibly valuable service, and your site is top drawer all the way. Thanks for all your time and organizational efforts! [ 09-07-2001: Message edited by: Blackthorne ]
  4. I would have a team of 3 or 4 U.S. available. Actually we've been looking for some arena where we could compete together for a change...... Keep me posted Frenchy
  5. I'm quite suprised that neither Red Baron game made this list. This and Civ I were the games that allowed this computer beast to sink it's claws into my free time.

  7. Ok, I did split up an entire platoon for screening duty. So I had 3 squads split into 6. How, or why would the game consider these squads as victory pts for my opponent. I've read about the effectiveness rate drop that splitting a squad entails, but obviouisly no casualties are taken. Thanks for the clue though Ron.
  8. I'm throwing myself upon the mercy of the community here. I'm perplexed and befuddled, (which may very well be causing this problem in the first place). I've had a handful of battles begin with my morale already sliced to 96% and the opponent being awarded 4% victory pts before a turn is even begun. Yes that's right. After my initial setup my first morale posting is 96%. What gives? Did I place a platoon in a patch of quicksand and not hear their pleas for help. Do I have troops offing their CO's before the battle begins?
  9. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Dirtweasle: It sounds good, but I doubt it ever makes it. ... the paste to Paint or whatever is unworkable as the units look like globs of dirt using the "8" view, and for a large map where this feature would be best suited it's the only view that has a chance of capturing a good portion of the map.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> I use this feature quite often. And I think it works great. For large maps simply take shots of sections of the battlefield. You can put in text, draw arrows etc. You can then print and modify in pencil as the battle proceeds. A valuable tool when you don't get a turn back quickly and you may forget what you were trying to do with a particular placement strategy.
  10. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Sergei: Good point. I hope they make American troops very rare in CM2.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Uh....why on earth would there be American troops offered in CM2?
  11. Has anyone ever coaxed a crew back into an abandoned AFV???
  12. I as well. I was part of admin. for a bit, in charge of training newbies. Handle was "Reynolds" after the CW General, as I was playing loads of the Battleground series at the time.
  13. Yesterday I passed a big rig on the side of the highway and I imagined it on fire with a gaping zook hole in it's grill, burning with the new smoke mod from John Caravella.
  14. Nope, but I have to admit that is a pretty slick outcome. I hated having to suspend belief on a night time mission, knowing that the AI would display "super night vision" powers and treat the display as if it were high noon. As the "What are you doing?"* guys like to say..."this game exhibits granitlike qualities.*" (*Whazzup!-This game Rocks!!)
  15. Awsome addition. This would be an unbelievable feature to add to CM2. A fundamentally earthshaking addition without the need for earthshaking code work. Great idea guys!
  16. He deffenitely has some personal issues going guys, but he's said that he'll put his tourney obligations to the fore as soon as he's able. I'm sure you'll be hearing from him shortly. Thanks for the patience!
  17. Yes, I've had a Tiger taken out by a PIAT at 110 meters!! This still doesn't console me however because I've had waaaay too many 1 in a 100 chances go against me. All I can say is that I'm due for about 10 straight games of one shot kills, so beware future opponents!
  18. I always wondered if by issuing the withdrawl command you cost your troops morale points. Does anyone know if simply by issuing this order your troops become more demoralized?
  19. Or should I say "out of ammo factor"? I find myself having to micro-manage my troops a bit more than I'd like in the "fire/don't fire" area because of ammo considerations. It happens every battle to me, and it usually takes a few turns for me to find, a MG who is firing at over 400 meters and doing absolutely no damage, or a squad firing at a position 300 meters away with the same results. And before you know it these guys have burned valuable ammo and I'm scrambling not only with the condition of my men but how many rounds they have left. And since I can't give them a do not fire command as they are taunted by an enemy squad prancing across their field of vision at 433 meters going nah nah na nah nah, I'm forced to place them in a hide mode until all vile temptations are gone. Should ammo loads play such a large part in the strategy and tactics of our half hour battles?
  20. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Peterk: If it is true, I can't say that I'm 100% surprised. They basically abandonned their core market once they started doing the 3D shooters. Very sorry to see them go though. I was always hoping they would return to their roots in a big way. p.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Yes they hold a special place in my heart as well. I was an avid Civil War buff when they came out with their titles. (studied theire Gettysburg map before making my own trip to those hallowed grounds). They were terrific games, but could have used the WEGO system as the pbem was fried by rampant cheating. (you could open up a game turn as many times as you wanted in order to get the outcome that most benefited your side). At one time this was an incredibly vibrant community of CW buffs and grogs. Sorry to see them go.
  21. What a riot. Please keep these little gems coming as often as the doctors will allow you to write them.
  22. Keep them far far away from the action, but in a spot where they can see a good portion of the field. Their range is substantial, and should be handled a lot like arty spotters.
