  1. Man I wish you were in Texas. I play P-ball every Sat & Sunday, I hit state tournies all the time to. I am on Ambush, a amatuer team looking to go pro, but its difficult to get a sponsor, unless you have the money to travel and be noticed.

I have well over a Grand in all my gear, and have been playing for over 4 years now. We play mainly on Hyperball and speedball fields. Althought I do have 30 acres of densly wooded land with some trenches 5 foot deep and 2 bunkers the same depth that we dug out by hand. Yes nothing but shovels and pic axes. It really sucked took us a month of weekends to finish it.

Every so often I get a group of guys together and we hit my property for a weekend of p-ball and camping.

A couple tips if your a newbie to pball:

If your renting, spend a few more bucks and get a good gun. Usually basic guns are pumpers or a ragged out semiautos that are cheap to begin with.

If you get the basic plan for a long day and plenty of welts. The basic pumpers are only gonna give you a rate of fire of at best 1 shot per sec. with very crappy range and accuracy. Basic semiauto will be a litte better but not much. Maybe 2 shots per second and little better range and still crappy accuracy.

Try to see if the shop has at least fairly new Spyders or Tippmans. They are not bad but not really a serious p-ball gun, but way better than basic guns at most fields.

If they have Autocockers or Angels and you can afford to rent them, this would be my suggestion. I own an Angel that has upgraded electonic trigger frame. with selective fire, semiauto, 3 round burst & full auto. Although most field will allow only semiauto. Tournaments only allow semiauto, but I just had to have the option of fullauto.

I figure I am firing about 8 shots a sec on semiauto and who know on fullauto. I just know I filled up my hopper full(200 p-balls and fired all of them in under 10 seconds. YA NO **** my Angel could paint a house on fullauto in know time.

One last thing never buy BRASS EAGLE balls, they will break in your gun more than actually fire. Spend a little money on your paint other wise your in for a day of a really messy gun.

You ever make it this way let me know, and I show what painball is all about.

  2. I totally agree, for some time I have Sharpe Shooters, kind of lacking in any major role other than suppressing or killing Tank Commanders.

I to have had wildly extreme results with sharpe shooters. Example a sharpe shooter and an MG42 in a large building holding a street. Infantry is pushing up this section of road. MG42 is doing his job, but the sharpe shooter, has either extemely effective accuracy or piss poor.

1st shot: at squad of infantry = 1 kill

2nd shot: at another squad of infantry = 2 kills

3rd shot: 4 squads moving from building to building very close to one another = 0 kills

    4th shot: 4-6 squads close together = 0 kills

    5th shot: Platoon Hq = 1 kills

    6th shot: 3 squads close together = 0 kills

    7th shot: 5-6 squads close together = 2 kills

All shots fired over 3 turns and while not underfire. All shots fired from ranges of 350 meters to 100 meters.

I just think if a squard is crossing a road 150 meters out with no cover, 8 times out of 10 at least 1 kill should be accounted for. Also 8 of 10 being the worst case basis.

Get me and my .308 out and I will (at the minimum) hit 8 out of 10 at 150 meters.

But i thought the 30.82 had no AA problems ???

Any suggestion for a better driver please !?

I am running the G4 Ti4600 vid card. I have no problems with AA at any setting. I am using the drivers that came with the card, 4.13.01.2750 Vision Tek (Xtacy). I figured if something were wrong with the drivers I would update, but have had no probs.
  4. Don't forget about the Geforce 4 Ti 4600 128MB DDR Ram.

Basically same price as the Radeon 9700 and performance is basically the same. The Radeon is barely beeting the G4 Ti 4600 in framerate, because the G4 Ti 4600 runs a little hotter than the Radeon 9700.

I have a G4 Ti 4600 and it runs CMBB like a charm. I bought this card over the Radeon because of the no fog factor with Radeon.

    thanks for answers!

I would not recommend the MX series of vid cards. I just had to get my brother able to play CMBB, let me tell ya it was no fun task.

    His PC

    Pent 3 700Mgz

    320Mb SD Ram

    Voodoo 5500 PCI

His framerate while scrolling was so terrible, it was more or less not worth playing CMBB. So I decided to help him out. I thought first to get him a new vid card, help because he only has PCI on his motherboard, no AGP. The only card I could find better than his Voodoo 5500 was the G4 MX440 PCI. It was worse than the Voodoo 5500 hundred in every way, graphics sucked and so did framerate.

Ya you may have AGP and the G4 MX440 would do better than the PCI version, but I did alot of research before getting the G4 MX440, and every website review or person I spoke with said the MX cards just are not that great, nothing at all like the G4 ti vid cards.

So I decided just give my brother my PC and I had a new one built for myself.

My PC I gave to my brother is a

    Pent 4 2.4Ghz

    512MB DDR Ram

G4 Ti 4600 128MB DDR Ram AGP VisionTek (Xtacy)

New PC I just recieved this week is a

    Pent 4 2.533Ghz

    512MB DDR Ram

G4 Ti 4600 128MB DDR Ram AGP VisionTek (Xtacy)

    Both play CMBB perfectly

You might say geez the G4 Ti 4600 128MB DDR RAM

that about $350 dollars, thats to much.

    I have a friend with a

    Pent 4 1.4Ghz

    256 MB DDR Ram

    G4 Ti4200 128MB DDR Ram AGP LedTek

His PC also runs CMBB very well. The only reason I opted for the G4 Ti4600 because it only cost $50 over the G4 Ti4200 with the purchase of the 2 PC's.

    So I would say if you don't have the cash for a G4 Ti4600 then go with a G4Ti 4200 or G4Ti4400.

If you do not have a AGP bus I am sorry to tell, not much is gonna improve your situation, trust me I tried everything on my brothers PC.

You can find the G4 Ti 4200 for around $150 if you look around on the net. Retail stores your looking at $180 to $200. Plus the Ledtek will probably cost a little more than the prices I quoted you. Really the Vision Tek (Xtacey) is no better or worse than the Ledtek version. Plus I have heard of an rare problem with LedTek version, having problems with transparency, but that could just be a problem with the LedTek Drivers which is a quick fix. Though my friend has no problems.

    Pent 4 2.4ghz processor

    512 MB DDR Ram

    20gig Hd

    G4 Ti4200 128MB DDRMem Vid card

    17" monitor

    Full size tower

    DVD/CD-rom

    CD-RW

Hopefully, now your brother and I will be able to play the larger scenarios.

    Mike

I know my brother will be able to play the large scenarios. I set up a Huge scenario on it just to see how it would play, and no problems at all. He is getting my old PC which is not old at all, I just got it a couple months ago.

    Pent 4 2.4 Ghz

    40 gig HD

    17" monitor

G4 Ti 4600 128MB DDR memory Vision Tek (Xtacy)

    320 MB DDR Ram

    DVD/CD-rom

    CD-RW

Basically same setup as you are getting except for the vid card. No fear though, I have a friend who has a G4 Ti 4200 128MB DDR Memory Vision Tek (Xtasy), and runs CMBB great.

The only difference I see in the Ti4200 to Ti4600 is with the Ti4200 there is the smallest screen hesitation with Trees & Doo Dads set to Extreme at resolution of 1280 X 1024. Even that is so minor you really don't notice it. You be very happy with what you got.

Personally if I have to go buy a G4 Ti vid card only. I would just go get the Ti4200 and save $200.

Luckily I got the Ti4600 included in both the PC's I have bought now.

Thanks for the info, but I have had it with my Bros againg PC, it just not worth upgraging.

I went out today and got with my local PC guy, (that I had build my last PC, which is going to my Bro).

    I got:

    Pent 4 2.533ghz processor

    512 MB DDR Ram

    40gig Hd

    G4 Vision Tech(Xtacey)Ti4600 128MB DDRMem Vid card

19" monitor (can't remember brand of the top of my head)

    Full size tower

    DVD/CD-rom

    TDK Burner X24 burn rate

Cheap Cannon printer (don't do much printing)

Boston Accoustics surround sound speaker, (2 Subwoofers & 6 smaller speakers)

And there is more but I can remember right now. All this for $1292 after rebates, and 6 months same as cash.

I am really pleased with what I got for the money.

BestBuy flyer in today's paper has a Sony with 2.4 gig Pentium 4, 512 meg of ram, 17" Sony monitor, a CD/DVD drive AND a CDRW drive, an 80 gig HD (and a printer) for $1199 after rebates. Sounds like a terrific deal to me.

I did the Sony route a couple of years ago when I bought my PIII 866, and bought a Geforce2 at the same time (since upgraded to a GeForce4) - it dropped right in with no motherboard switch or BIOS fiddling and worked like a charm. I'm sure it's still just a easy.

Think Sony has a whole line of Pentium 4 systems starting at $800 or so, and all the CompUSA and BestBuy stores carry them and have all sorts of special deals.

Not trying to do a commerial or anything, but I do think Sony makes a well put together system (love having both a CD/DVD and CDRW) and the prices these days are just crazy low.

I feel your pain, man. smile.gif From your experience, looks like I'll be purchasing a new PC as well, probably something along the lines of a P4 2.4GHz with a GEForce Ti 4600 included. Should run something around $1300, according to my limited research.

    Mike

Don't waste your time on PCI card, its not gonna help trust me. Today I actually found an Vision Tech G4 MX440 PCI and the piece of crap is worse than the Voodoo 5500 PCI card he already has, and it over 2 years old.

Here is the specs listed on G4 MX440 box and found same specs at Nividia site.

    G4 MX440

    Listed as

    Core Speed: 270 MHz

    Memory Speed: 400 MHz

    Only achieved these benchmarks

    MX440:

    Core Speed: 150 MHz

    Memory Speed: 200 MHz.

So again don't even waste your time and money. Just get a new mother board and Processor or New PC all together.

Mike where did you find the info on the P4 2.4GHz with GEForce Ti 4600 included for $1300???

Also is a whole PC with monitor and Printer and all the others, or just a Tower???

That is really a desent price, and trust me you'll love the G4 Ti4600. Thats what I have in my PC, that I will probably be giving me brother.

Thanks for the links, I did happen to find a G4 MX440, but it was worse than my Bros Voodoo 5500 PCI vid card. I am not really sure where the specs of the card came from becasue they are not right at all, at least with my Bros PC.

Now if the caps was not meant I am sorry, but I have been doing all I can for the past 3 days to get my bros PC able to run CMBB and I am very frustrated.
