I'm glad you like it. If you can keep a secret there are a $hit load more on the way. Been working on these suckers for ever now and I just wanted to throw one out and see what everyone thought. Then I'll dump some more one you guys if you like them.
  2. Ya I did reinstall DX 8.1 from some other software I have and crashes have disappeared, even though a dxdiag still says 9.0. Yet all games I have that analyze the pc for requiremnets show DX8.1, weird.

Only thing is another problem I noticed with DX9.0 is my PC will not shut down, and since reinstalling DX8.1 PC will still not shut down, at least the crashes are gone.

Anybody know exactly why it is not possible to uinstall DX, just doesn't make much sense to me.

I have been running DX 9 for a few months with no issue and a slight speed increase in CMBB and IL-2 Sturmovik.

Ya I must agree I have seen a slight increase in frame rate. I just get a crash with everything I have played so far. Ya I am gonna try a reinstall before windows reinstall.

Any particular reason why you installed DirectX 9.0 ? It doesn't generally help any of the current games available to my knowledge (since none of them support any DirectX 9.0-unique features). I haven't checked lately to see what the latest video drivers require - so that would be the only reason to upgrade in my mind.

Did you have problems before installing DirectX 9.0 (such as the bad performance you were seeing) ?

I have started playing BF1942, that a friend talk me into buying to play online with him. BF1942 performance was really slow. I was on there forum and several people mentioned that DX9.0 really helped there performance with BF1942, now everthing I have is screwed.

No I had no problems with any other game besides bad performance with BF1942.

  5. I just installed directx 9.0 last night and it fu&^%*& sucks. CMBB last the longest before crash or freeze up but still does crash or freeze after 30 to 60 mins. IL-2 crashes or freezes in about 10 mins. Also tried MOHAA, BF1942, and a couple other and all froze within 20 mins or so. The freeze occurs when there is a drop of in frame rate evertime.

Also I reloaded DX 8.1,& dxdiag says I still have DX9.0. Another game I have has a system analyze option to meet min specs and says DX8.1 is on the PC.

    So which one is it???

    Specs

    Pent 4 1.8ghz

    Win ME

    512 DRD RAM

    G4 Ti4200 128MB Drivers 4.13

Also would trying a different set of drivers for Vid card help out???

I would really apreciate it if someone could help me, basically this damn PC is useless now for gaming.

I have not read everything above, so excuse if I repeat something.

    a) There is a soundmap at the CMModDepot by Shatter. Praise his name.

    B) CMBB uses more soundfiles for the same weapon, especially for infantry. I don't plan to make 'add-ons' for CMBB.

    c) The easiest thing would be to just copy my soundfiles and rename them to get the additional sounds (I have done this for me, too).

    d) I'm currently more interested that BTS would expand the sound map for heavy weapons. Indeed I've send Madmatt a file for the quad-2cm Flak, but it seems he wasn't impressed enough. I'm also not happy that the recoiless rifles and Panzerfausts/-schrecks are still using the same sound, as well as the small and medium mortars. Just some examples.

Thanks for the comments Scipio. Ya your sound mods IMO are still the best. I too have just renumbered all your sounds from CMBO to CMBB.

Oddball_E8 is on to some good ones now. I just hope they are in the right frequency this time. I have not gotten the new ones at CMMODS but am looking forward to getting the time to check them out.

Oddball_E8 with some of the sounds that are a little wimpy have you tried slowing them down just a little. This is what I have done as well as beefed up the volume on them. What are you using to edit the sounds?

I use a program by TDK, digital mixing.

  7. Yesterday I did reinstall of Windows and forgot to save my QB map folder to disk. I looked a little today for all that I had, but only found some called assault defence QB maps at the database.

    I remember I had a pack of 140 maps.

Ticks me off too, I was goona fire up a quick QB before I head out today.

I am going to check out the sceanrio depot, but I remember there were not that many there.

Oh ya anybody know were the Stalingrad pack is being hosted now?

If somebody could point me in the right direction I would be greatful.

I have now modded all the cannon sounds except the 105, 128 and 150... those are still scipios... I am now in the process of removing some of my ambience sounds that had a bit too much fighting in them... well im not removing them, but i am going to include alternatives to them...

But it will be a big mod so i think i will cut it into some smaller pieces... btw the new cannon sounds ROCK!!! (might even release them a bit earlier just to let you hear them)

Only thing is that they are from some soundmods for OFP... and since i combined them into one soundmod for OFP (personal use only) i dont know who made them... All mod makers out there that think i should release anyway raise your hands!

Send them my way I check them out

If yours is more detailed go ahead, as long is will not blow up my PC. Probably just crash my HD :D . No seriously I did not do any traslations to the voice files, so if you have translation go ahead.

  10. Sound Map is done, well at least as done as its gonna get. Don't expect a translations for ever single voice files, cause you are not gonna get it. I also could really only figure out the Russian, German & Finnish voice files. So I labeled all voices files as all voice files. Then under that labeled the Russian, German, Finnish voice wavs.

    Everyting else is there though.

Ares,Griffon, I'll send it to you guys in a few.

Looks like somw good stuff on the horizon. Got the mods recommended. Good stuff. I like the MG42 but I do like Scipio's version in CMBO where you get the a very harsh, echoey sound and that 'weeeeeah' (crap description I know) after each burst.

I wish I could turn the birds down too. I like 'em mind, jsu a bit bloody noisy over my incoming 150s!

I have noticed the game v. wav thing too. Nature of the beast I suppose. When played through the wav player I use a lot of the sounds are very different to how they sound in game. Bit of a pain.

Apache, the bird ambient sounds are 00005004 & 00005007. All the ambient sounds are 00005000 to 00005007.

I have a fairly complete sound map for CMBB if anyone wants it. </font>

    My e-mail is: josefporta_2@hotmail.com

Well, last night I was playing a TCI/IP game and when an enemy mig blew the hell out of my flak truck, the escaping man came under tank MG fire and said something like weeeeeeerrrrr haaaaaaaaaaarrrr. I have tried to find the wavs but since , they sound nothing like in the game its really is difficult.

I installed CMBB to my other PC and am putting wav folder on a zip disk. Then I'll just start from scratch with a new wav folder and add back the sounds I want.

I do like the mod, so I guess when its straightend out I'll put back in.
