  1. Hello all busy modders! There may be a few more threads on the issue I put forward but they are buried under a pile of postings. First of all, I don't want to be percieved as whining. I've been a faithful buyer of all CM games since CMBO and I understand that a small company like Battlefront has to carefully balance their limited resources to get us most bang for the buck. Still I find that the way the file repository works leaves a lot to be desired. The interface is messy and clunky and this limits it's usefullness. I miss the old Scenario depot interface... I primarily use the repository to look for new scenarios and campaigns. I prefer campaigns by a large margin. Scenario authors put a lot of work into creating new scens and campaigns and it's a pity their work is so hard to sort and choose from. So here goes my wishlist for the repository, not in any particular order. Fell free to add to it. 1. Sort by Campaign and Scenario functionality 2. Easier way to indicate which game you are searching (not having to de-click all other games) 3. Clear indication which side is AI playable, if any 4. Clear indication of scenario/campaign size There must be lots of canned solutions out there that work better. I'm no expert though so I won't go into the detail of how this could be achieved. But I'd welcome suggestions further down. //Romeoman
  2. As noted above, in Romanian, a latin language, the substantive normally precedes the adjective describing it. Thus: Romanian vehicles = Vehicule române Romanian infantry = Infanterie românã
  3. Treeburst, I'd love to see a standing of all the games... Romeoman

  5. Actually, I've witnessed such light caliber knck-outs in CM much more often than I think it happened in RL. Many accounts speak of multiple penetrations not resulting in knock-outs or even bail-outs. At Dien Bien Phu, the french Chafee platoon survived almost through the entire battle (less one tank, which brewed up early in the siege), although in the end, they had amassed many hits, mostly from 57 and 75 mm RR. They were immobilized on several instances, abandoned and recovered, during the same battle. It would be great to be able to have the crews recover their AFV once they no longer are suppressed. Same goes for the japanese tanks at Nomonhan (aka Khalkhin Gol). They were hit several times by 45mm rounds fired by both BT tanks and AT guns, especially in the initial stages of the battle. However, despite penetrations, they remained in the battle until attacked by heavier russian tanks (T34 and KV1) later on. The penetrating AT fire would cause them to withdraw, but without abandoning the tank when at all possible, even if some of the crews were wounded or killed. This is another feature badly missing: panicked or out-of-control tanks, withdrawing or driving to the rear. AV's in CM are almost always knocked out by penetrating hits, even with very small penetration marginal. The resilience of AV's to such hits should be more akin to the way unarmored vehicles resist to HE fire... We've all seen trucks under fire from MG's 200 metres away and not abandoned directly (although 1 or 2 rounds in every salvo fired are bound to hit the truck). The 20 mm gun carried by various AFV's in CM is the KwK38 with a clip of 8 rounds that can be fired automatically. Given the fact that the weapon always is turret mounted (thus very stable), I would expect these 8 rounds to be fired rather quickly, maybe in one burst, if the target is close enough... The same goes for the .50's, as they can fire at very high rates of fire if the target is close enough to ensure hits without prolongued aiming (unlike now when there always are those 5-6 secondes between bursts)...

  8. I completely agree with Skipper. I am only 23 years old, so already my parents were in the generation of atheists. I can tell you for sure that VERY few people born in the late 70's or early 80's in the cities (villages were another matter alltogether from a social point of view) in the former communist countries in Eastern Europe are religious in the traditional sense. Religion was pointed out as something not needed anymore since the 1920's. Most young people, especially as education was completely government controlled, never had a chance to learn the old ways. It just fell in disuse. This is however true mostly in the cities, where an educated social group existed. In the countryside, communism had far less social impact (besides the collectivisation, of course). Villages had had their own churches and supported financially their own priests for ages, so they just continued doing so. However, as most soldiers came from the kolchozes, religious motivation might have worked. But I really can't imagine the comissars and officers of the Red Army leading the men in prayer, only 20 years or so after burning hundreds of churches in the Russian civil war...
