  1. WOW Just finished first scen, Yelnia Stare. A few minor things I noticed. 1. The bases on the units would cover the units, cept for the shoes and the head when the units are laying flat on ground, very bad, you can't see what it is. I have screen shot. I guess I can't cut and paste it in here. If someone wants it let me know This was only when the view was directly above looking straight down. 2. I had units that NEVER got in better physical shape. My 81mm spotter in Stare ran after like turn 5 about 20m and hid by the main flag. ALL GAME he stayed exhausted. He must be as out of shape as I am I had a HMG also do that, for 6 turns stayed pegged at exhausted. All in all great. From a playability stand-point, and thanks to the Tech forum I can play, those guys are great, I found myself needing the bases to see, but I hated how the red sq covered the whole unit. Also, I found myself always wanting to get everything bigger, like I could not get close enough to the action, but that's probably just me. Maybe 1024x768 is TOO big, and the game is better under 800x600? anyone? The sounds were great, just those unit bases. GREAT GAME!!!!
  2. I think all my stuff, vid and sound card, did have different IRQ values. What is shared is the onboard NIC and the modem. I am going to try this. 1. Remove modem, and go back to sharing a net connection from wife's PC on my home LAN. 2. Reinstall SB PCI card in slot far away from AGP vid card. Will load the fix to the driver for it. This MB had 3 PCI, 1 shared with the AGP. Do you think that will work, I may reintroduce the sound lock up issue.
  3. Was your computer using ACPI ?.... Yes it was, I did what you said to do to check. That seems WAY worse than a normal plug-n-play system. What would a machine be told to do such a thing? Is that why my modem will go every 25 seconds and stop downloading something and then go full blast, a little pause, and then full blast. As regular as clock-work I am not into audio that much, but thought it would be nice to support 4 speakers in CMBB. I can't tell the difference in sound at all, yet.
  4. What are you guys running the demo with? I have Enlarge +3 I seem to like that one. What do you guys think? This looks like it will be awesome
  5. Thanks for the input. The SB did have it's own IRQ when it was in. I took it out and am running with the sound from the MB. The lock up issue with the wierd sound has gone away. I don't know what I loose in that cept some wasted bucks. Do you know what I loose by taking the SB out in terms of CMBx game play?
  6. All day, still lock up in CMBO after like 3 minutes. In my BIOS, the VGA Share Memory Size can NOT be disabled, it can be 8MB, 16MB, 32MB. I have it at 8MB. I did the SB PCI 512 dated 10-26-2001 update. Didn't work. I tried both ways the PCI Delay Transaction, no go. What a horrible day
  7. thank you. i have SoundBlaster PCI512 listed as the sound card. I ordered a SoundBlaster 128 with the box but nothing says that in device manager. Driver date is 7/1/2001. I am trying to download that patch from soundblaster. After I reboot I will try to get the BIOS set to your suggestions. I have downloaded and installed the latest driver from NVidia. Why didn't I have this problem with my PCI TDFX card? The NVIDIA card seems to have given me this new sound da da da stuck problem, how?
  8. See my other thread, the Savage DDR one, about the SPEC's on the MB. We have already discussed it I think, I had a Kp4266 or something. I was the guy you told to get a GeForce4 card. SoundBlaster PCI512 is the sound card. I ordered a SoundBlaster 128 with the box but nothing says that in device manager. Driver date is 7.1.2001. Wife is taking me out for walk to relieve stress. I hope this will play my turns eventually. I have windows XP. [ August 31, 2002, 02:37 PM: Message edited by: Beckman ]
  9. LtCo.05 I have this problem too. I lock up in XP, the sound goes crazy and I am locked up or once my ssytem rebooted, that's in less than 5 minutes of play time. any one out here have a sugestion thanks
  10. HELP I did the patch and I get a da da da out of my speakera and my PC is locked. I just added an NVIDIA GEFORECE 4 MX 420. I am starting to get frustrated. I got this new box and card to play THIS game, well mostly CMBB. I was fine with CMBO on my old system. Now I have gone from vid issues to system lock-ups. Any help out there? There must be a way to make the game playable.
  11. BLOW2 That sounds awesome. I am having to wipe the drool off of the keyboard.
  12. Ok, true I must tell the Panther story. Me and V are playing COI. It's getting intense. Quarters are close, guys are eveywhere. in those days you id'ed the units shooting and pointed to the target, like "8-ball corner pocket". Well I had a sq with a faust knee deep in stuff. Of course, in a panic, I point to MY PANTHER. I try to take it back but V, being the guy that he is, lovingly let me take only my first choice. Of course I hit and kill the thing (Panther) when 2 hexes over was the real target. I got a mirgraine headache number 459732 after that one. Hey V, you happy now.
  13. But what I'm really greedy for is some of the COD scenarios, such as #31, "Chateau de Quesnoy" and wooo, wooo, wooo!, #27, "The Dinant Bridgehead". Wow I remember that one, #31 Chateau de Quesnoy. I remember having to write down mine locations on paper and hope he stepped into those buildings. The French won that one, eh Easy-V. I have pleassant memories of that scen. Man thinking back makes me like CMBO/CMBB that much more
  14. most Ip games I have had, same thing, it locks for one guy the other is seeing a bit of the movie, the autosave does same thing and u r forced to PBEm the rest of the way. at least that's what i have seen.
  15. Wow, I am glad this thread took off. i wake up today to be insulted by the devious easy-v. LOL. Lots of pain felt by a snake eyes roll from a MMG as my last SS guys were about to exit and I was about to win. I have the COI box if you need a scan. I am glad I will be able to play this SCEN in CMBB. you scen creators guys ROCK. thanks beckman
  16. Hello all, I am not much into designing scens but I had a question. Does anyone remember the old Squad Leader scen Hill 621? I loved that scen...the large ridge, the few germans sqs, the few german tanks versus the 80 zillion, I counted, russian sqs. My questions, does anyone remember that scen AND can someone who has time design that one? Can't wait for CMBB! thanks Beckman
  17. I hope you guys work on commision. I ordered a GeForce4 MX 420 AGP. I never had an AGP card b4. Again thanks for all the help sb
  18. Thanks you two. Tough decision on the card. First, even to invest more $$$. Second, what card to get. I am happily going along again in my games. that's step one. Step 2 is to be happily going along in CMBB. Above it was mentioned even this GeForce2 card will hold my system back. Meaning with the processor, my fillrate could be that much higer? I am not into 1st person shooters, used to be. I like the TV out on the card I mentioned. Also, good point on the 32MB for better graphics on CMBB, TOUGH CALL. Anyway, thanks so much to the forum.
  19. Nvidia Geforce2 MX400 64MB SDRAM Made by DELL Includes drivers. Has TV-OUT. No cables (S-Video). (Part - VAG03K538) I was thinking of buying that part. What do you think? It's like $40 new. It would clearly be faster, even in 2D, than my Voodoo3 right? In the 30min I have had this card it, it seems my whole system is slower, even clicking around not in a game.
  20. I pumped the Voodoo3 2000 in and CMBO looks fine. Now I don't know what kinda slow down I am getting, but on a fairly big scen, it moved around great. it's a 16MB card. In the BIOS, all I could share of the memory was up to 32M, that was the highest setting on my BIOS. Do you think with this supposedly "fast" box, I will be OK with this card, or will it slow me down. What i didn't like on my old box was slow load times of the turns and the time to generate the movies on BIG games. any more advise would be lovely.
  21. Didn't work, but nice to update the driver. Still get real crappy looking video from the game. Would installing Win98 make my problems go away? I might also try my TDFX Voodoo 2000 PCI. It's newer than the Voodoo2, which only did 3D. I will probably do one of the above and just leave it at that. CMBB is the main reason I got this box and 9-1 it starts
  22. WOW. Can I get you something in return for all this. I am a BIG U2 fan, and have tons of live shows. Yes, I know about the wrong column. The only reason I looked at it, the 2nd column, was the CD the seller gave me for the MB has a folder with that chipset on it. the others are the VIAP4M266 and P4M266 folders. I changed drivers to that one, and my XP took them. No change to the flashing unit bases. I will download this 4.4MB file and see that happens. If it works, wow. If not, I will continue to read your last post about the BIOS changes etc lol.
  23. http://www.via.com.tw/en/ProSavage%20Chipsets/km266.jsp I see that I have a Savage 4. I wish my XP install used the VIA8365 Directory from my Motherboard CD when it installed the video part of the install. That's what I wish I could redo. I can't get it back to that point. Yeah I will not do another vid card, I must think this can work. The chipset for the AMD is not what I have coming up. Maybe the MB is messed up. I will call the place I got the system from maybe. Again you have been marvelous, thanks isn't enough.
  24. I am suprised the P4M266 is correct, even on an AMD CPU board. I had a TDFX card, a Voodoo 2000, PCI, in my other system. Maybe I should put that in? I also tried making the system run in 800x600 at all kinds of screen refreshes, nada. So this "great" system is still gonna be bad, wow. Hmmmm
