  1. Can you believe this. A few weeks ago I tried to get on this site from my office to see if I had made SuperTed's tournament. Instead of the familiar sandbags I saw a great big Stop sign with the words "YOU HAVE REACHED AN WEBSITE DEEMED INAPPROPRIATE BY CORPRATE SECURITY. CONTINUED ACCESS OF SUCH SITES COULD RESULT IN DISMISSAL". I work for a fairly large tech company that allows you to surf the web as long as it is not porn or not done too much. I guess the name BATTLEFRONT.COM must have spooked someone. - HOBO
  2. VJ, I assume you are referring to the Hobo vs. El Griz match-up. El Griz was an alternate who stepped in for Pmet. Currently, Hobo and El Griz are playing Down in the Valley, which will be the only scenario they play in the round. ------- El Griz and I are making slow but steady progress. I doubt we will be done much if any before the deadline at this pace. Something about work and a girlfriend. Hobo
  3. I agree with the escape key, but for the wife instead. ... Sure honey, I am almost done paying bills...Be right up. CP
  4. I am afraid the game was over in Round 1 when I took that southwest corner unless I did something really really stupid. Fortunately I only did a few minor stupid things and was able to hang on. I aam not sure if you caught this, but I actually blew up my own FO with an errant 105MM round. Also trying to sneak around your right flank to silence those pesky vickers was not my brightest maneuver. Fortunately I only lost a couple of men when you flamed that building I attacked housing a couple of your wasted squads. Thats was a pretty brutal move on your part. All in all it was a tremendous blast. Thanks Ted for putting this on. Chris

  6. I just finished my first PBEM game in Superted's newbe tournament and am itching to play some more. Pick any scenario outside of the ones that came with CMBO and select a side and I will give you a game if you are still interested. Send the mail to hobo@mindpulse.com. Regards, Chris
  7. I am taking the day (friday) off and would like to increase my learning in this game. Would any body be interested in trying to take me to school? Send me mail at hobo@mindpulse.com. Regards, Chris

  11. I forgot to mention that one of the "spotting" rounds nailed a half track. They were cowards, but they could shoot. They did have LOS on the spotting rounds. The mortors were on a hill a long ways from the battlefield (but within range) and had command over the entire area. They were by themselves without a leader because that was the way they were originally setup by the scenario. I replayed the scenario and had a CPT run back to their position before the germans made it into view. - Hobo
  12. I had 3 60mm mortar crews in perfect position away from the front targeting a cluster of germans including 2 half tracks and a Stug3 (didnt expect anything there). I watched in anticipation of breaking up their attack when each crew shot only one round in the turn. Fortunately the germans did not move so I tried again in the next round. Same result. This occured one more round before the germans moved off and I lost my opportunity. Can anybody explain what is up with this. I think one crew was green and the other two were regulars. I tried to get a leader over there to shoot the jerks only to get blasted by a Tiger in route. For now on I am only playing the germans. They know how to fight. - Hobo
  13. I am putting together a few Bastogne scenatios and was wondering if anybody has access to topographic maps of the area. Thanks, Hobo
  14. You are stuck out in the open with rounds beginning to come in. You need to get to safety. Do you run or crawl? Cmdr Hobo
  15. How about click on a spot and get its elevation. The only way I can clearly see terrain is from the first person perspective. I got killed by enemy tanks when I first starting playing this game because I placed my tanks in terrible positions. - Hobo
  16. Can somebody explain the next target command. How is it different than giving no command to a soldier? Many Thanks, Hobo
  17. I spent most of the Arnhem scenario as a German recapturing the town over and over again. I was shocked to learn that the brits had won after the last battle because there was a pocket of troops in the corner of the battlefield out of the town. I never could get to them because I would spend all of my turns re-searching the town and establishing a perimeter. I owned both ends of the bridge and had killed a ton of brits without taking many casualties. In the same scenario as the brits I would have to to retake the same ground over and over again trying to establish a strong defensive perimeter. Because of this I have sworn off campaigns until there is a fix. Its good to know its not just me. Hobo
  18. Anybody have problems with the ways setups are managed in operations. In the Arnhem operation I would lose ground after every battle. Frequently it would give me a setup area in the ground I captured, but would move all of my men back in a rear setup area. Also, it would cram all of my men in a tiny setup area away from the front. Is this a game problem or a operation problem. I have only played a few games but this is the only problem I have found. Many Thanks, Hobo
  19. I had a similar event last night playing the Arnhem Operation. I had a puma knocked out on the end of the bridge entering Arnhem. I was having a hard time getting my Stug around it and into the city. Eventually, the crazy tank command just drove right over the Puma leaving it pancaked in the street. What an amazing game. Hobo
  20. Thank you for providing such a detailed response. This makes me feel a little bit better since I could not fix it myself. I hope yuo realize this this may cost me a couple of grand because I am now going to have to get a new home computer and stop using my laptop from work. - Hobo
  21. Sorry if this is a really stupid question, but when I play the game on my laptop (Toshiba Tecra 8000) the game only appears on a small part of the labtop's screen. When I play the game with my docking station and monitor, the game uses the entire screen as expected. I assume I need to change something with the display settings of my laptop when I am running it away from the docking station, but I have exhausted all options without any success. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. This is truely a terrific game. I was watching at close-up ground level some infantry assualting a 2 story wood building that I was surpressing with a mortar. The building collapsed right before my troops got to the building. The visual and audio effects were truely breathtaking. It almost knocked me out of my chair. Great job. Hobo
  22. Generals, I have been having some difficulty with the Arnhem bridge operation and am seeking your advice. I took both ends of the bridge with acceptable loss of life in the first battle. In the subsequant battles I tried to push on beyond the bridge to take more defensible terrain and await the expected counter attack. The problem is everytime I take a crossroads, the game puts me back at the end of the bridge for the next battle. Dont get me wrong, I am not the kind of general that minds shedding his troups blood in attaining a legitimate objective. However, this is getting tedious capturing the same land over and over again while I wait for Monty to get his slow butt and relieve me. The game puts white setup areas around the land I grabbed, but they put all of my troops in orange setup areas at the base of the bridge. I understand that the game tries to straighten up the front line. However, in my case, I captured both crossraods beyond the bridge and had a nice tidy area. Is this a problem with the game, the operation, or am I doing something wrong. Best Regards, Hobo
