  1. Yeah; that incident in Stoumont during the Battle of the Bulge is one of the incidents I was thinking of.

AFAIK, the ground-mount version of the 90mm was never formally deployed to TD units -- I'm pretty sure the largest towed AT gun U.S. TD units ever used was the 76mm. Of course, starting in late September 1944, M36 Jacksons with 90mm guns were starting to show up in U.S. TD units.

But at any rate, I'm pretty sure any usage of the ground-mount 90mm gun would have to be from be AA units pressed into AT service, as I don't think anybody else had it.

Yes that would be the M5 3inch gun.

  2. The Devils Adjudant (Michael Reynolds) disribes a situation where a 2x 90mm were used against Kampgruppe Peiper in Stoumont. They were from 143d Antiaircraft Battalion and redeployed to support 119th Infantry. This indicates they were not part of an TD unit who was present in the area as well (823d Tank Destroyer Battalion).

  3. Fantastic work :)

    Some remarks:

The battle for Carentan started with Dead Man's Corner at the start of the causeway. It would be nice to model that part too ;). I checked the canal near the Cole's farmhouse and it was less wide and less cultivated then you have modelled it at the moment imo. Check last photo.

  4. MG ammo has mostly a mix of ball, ap and 1 tracer. This is needed to adjust the MG. Some tanks in ww2 used even the MG tracer to range in the main gun.

Beside that any rocket projectile like bazooka or schreck always have a tracer light.

Tracers are also used on tank ammo and AT gun ammo to adjust the gun. Mortars or other indirect weapons dont need tracers due the way they are used. They are ranged in like it happends in CMBN.

Maybe tracers were not on all weapons in ww2 but most of them could use it and therefore it is not pure gameplay.

Even normal rifles use tracers these days (i.e. to point a target for squad members)
