  1. Haiku, Japanese verse form, notable for its compression and suggestiveness. It consists of three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables.

5-7-5 people. Please play by the rules.

    This is not strictly true.

    days begin to chill

    night of the refresh monkeys

    cool totally sweet

edited to say the above is my CMBB haiku, not CMBO, and to request a new CMBB feature, that being, after losing, if you write a gnarly enough haiku, you get a draw or minor victory.

  2. HAHAH, That was a cool scenario, and by cool, I mean totally sweet.

That was my fav SL scenario. I have it in the basement. I did make a CMBO scenario for it.

Tried to simulate ruskies by whacking all the 'toon HQs. It was ok, but not great.

My guess is I will be converting the exact moment after CMBB is finished installing.

  3. Dius Irae: Turn 11 now. They lobbed some 2 or 3"

haggis at me for a turn or 2. But now.. now the going gets tough.

Arch Enemies: Opponent away 'til the 28th, at which time I will CRUSH him.

Mechanized Bushmen: been 17 days since contact with opponent. emails unanswered. anyone seen jdejohn @ someplace.com?

April's Fool: This one is still over, except the nightmares and shaking.

Still no contact from MechB, thats 10 days now.

Too bad, I was just about to open up a big ol' can of whoop ass.

CMBB is coming ever so sooner, so 125 days seems... a bit long. Can we tcp/ip one evening to gain some time?

  6. Mech Bushmen: Last heard from opponent 8/12/02.

Still true. Can't find a post in this thread that notes he is away. Doesn't mean I just didnt find it. jdejohn, are u out there?

Dies Ireas: Turn 7 or so. Progress slow, but sure.

At the *current* rate of turn arround, it will take a ~125 days to finish Dies Ireas.

ArchEnemies. Turn 7. No email action here. Theres probably a good reason for it which I cannot recall. Its still silent, spooky and dark.

    Opponent, are u out there?

Mechanized Bushmen. Turn 13. No email action here. Theres probably a good reason for it which I cannot recall. Tanks are starting to drop like flies, troops getting mauled all over the place.

    Opponent, are u out there?

Dies Ireas. Turn 6. No email action here. Theres probably a good reason for it which I cannot recall. I advance rapidly an unhindered.

    Opponent, are u out there?

April Fools. Game over. Not sure how I pulled this off, but as stated above, it ended in a 42-56 axis victory. A crushing defeat, no, but surely humiliating to my worthy opponent. :D

    I need typing lessons.

and period map you mean like the WWII period?

its a map of the era.

Are they jpegs or .gifs, doesnt matter.

    Making thumbnails is easy.

    thumbnail maker from tucows.com

You can try that. dont know if its adware or what ever. tucows has lotsa thumbnail makers, for many OSes.

  10. Critisism is the best for of comment,a s it can only make your site better. Dont be discouraged by

this isnt right, that sucks, etc etc.

    My $.02:

Maybe thumbnail them screen shots, with an enlarge link? I dunno.

"next", "back" buttons on java applet dont work?

screen shot page has no link back to other pages on the site, same for mods page.

Is that a period map in the background?

If not, make it one. I'm to ignoratn to know the diffference. I like it though.

For links page, put battlefront for now, with link to battle front press page and screen shiots?

  11. Traject0ry, doan' you be talking no smack 'bout nobody before this tournament is over. I would hate for you to get banned.

Ok, where the hell am I again...

    Ummm....

Arch Enemies, turn 5, dark and spooky still.

April Fools, Turn 22, praying for it to all just end.

Dies Ireas, Turn 5, I think I saw a scotsman on the far hill mooning me, the bastard.

Mech Bushman, turn 12, I think brutal close quarters combat is not far off.

  12. I think I already asked this one, and its probaly way too late. Seems simple enough though...

Move the GO button away from the rest of the camera controls so it can't accidentally be pressed by people afflicted with various forms of palsy.

I can't say how many critical moves have been missed because the close placement to the UP camera, thereby causing me to press GO by accident.

  13. ATG and TRPs,

how does this work? Does the tank have to be "close" to the TRP, or right on top of it?

aside: can on board mortars target TRPs even if not in LOS?

Also, if yer gun takes out just one tank, its worth it point wise and tactically.

Most guns cost < 75$, most tank cost > 100$.

My guns usually get atleast one tank.

I've been playing CMBO for well over a year and have been engrossed in trying all the awaesome mods out there and playing all the custom scenarios everyone creates. However, all my games have been aganist the computer AI. I've never tried PBEM or an IP game. A couple of questions from a multiplayer newbie:

    1) Is there a good resource, FAQ, or thread to go to that explains details about how to set up, join, and play PBEM or IP games?

    2) Do you guys find playing live opponents so much more challenging that you never really go back to playing against the AI?

    3) What's more enjoyable, PBEM or IP games? What are advantages/disadvantages of each?

    4) Any advice or warnings about playing mulitplayer games?

Any info on any of these questions would be appreciated. Thanks! smile.gif

    1)

    Some tips here:

    anthology of useful posts

    and here:

    th forums

read all the strategy and tactics articles.

    2)

versus Human can be 10 x more challenging, 10 times more fun. I can't go back to the AI. Its just not the same.

    3)

PBEM or IP is a matter of taste. You'll have to fine out for your self. I prefer TCP/IP by far.

PBEM too slow for my pace.

    4) be prepared to get your arse kicked time and again at first when playing versus human. Its a new game.

there are chat room to hook up with people for tcp/ip games
