  1. Well, I can tell you this. I LONG to play what WWIIOnline is suppose to be. But until it becomes that I have no desire to pay money to Beta test software. I understand why the released it when they did, cash flow, but still it was a Beta product, period. I sincerely hope they are able to complete the software before they run out of money. Till then I am still addicted to CM:BO and it has almost been a year solid of almost daily play, what more has to be said! On a side note I played the Operation Flashpoint Demo and it was awesome, placed my order and await eagerly for it's arrival!
  2. Just the Facts... From the book "Standard Guide to U.S. World War II Tanks & Artillery", Konrad Schreier U.S Army field artillery definitions: GUN: A long barrel cannon which normally fires with a flat trajectory, can fire with a high trajectory, and has a longer range than either a howitzer or mortar of the same caliber. HOWITZER: A cannon with a medium-length barrel which normally fires with a high trajectory, can fire with a flat trajectory, and has a shorter range than a gun and longer range than a mortar of the same caliber. MORTAR: A cannon with a short barrel which can only fire with a high trajectory and has a shorter range than either a gun or a howitzer of the same caliber. Over and Out!
  3. Just a confirmation as well that 37mm Canister was used in the WTO. Currently reading "A Time for Trumpets" by MacDonald. Story about the Battle of the Bulge. Half-way through and has mentioned several times about canister rounds being used by Stuarts against INF. Hmm.. if that were available now in CM... would change my view of the Stuart a bit.. I am already a fan of the little guy!
  4. I am currently reading "A Time for Trumpets" by MacDonald. It is a book about the Battle of the Bulge, written by a gentlemen who fought in the battle. The book is about the entire battle. They mention the Quad .50 cal AA HT quite often and I was wondering why it did not show up in CM? I did a search and came up with nada. Is it because the .50 is already such an effective weapon in CM that the quad would be a holy terror?!?! Why can I not set an ambush with a Gun over 300m, that seems rather short for a gun, I would think the longer the better to ambush with a Gun, clear LOS I would think 1000m would be reasonable and realistic. Comments?
  5. I don't know, I would love to defend against an attack of Chainsaw wielding Pioneer troops!! Might as well send a Battalion for that matter!
  6. Hey PL have these questions been asked? Will I have the ability to give my Guns "Armor" target ONLY orders. So they will not reveal themselve firing at soft targets? Is there any plans to change the AAR at the end of the game... like adding details of the fight, scenario name, map settings, etc? Thanks PL and BTS!
  7. Hey Detroit, an excellent "Book" covering the entire scope of WWII is Delivered From Evil, by Leckie. There is a great deal of material but it is well written and is a very good overview of the whole conflict. The only area not covered well IIRC is the Eastern Front, surprise surprise. I have been tracking and rating all the WWII books I read and gave this book a 4.5 out of 5.0
  8. Detroit, there is no reason to retract your position. Your are 100% correct and it sounds like BTS also understands this. I can remember coming to the sight for the first time and it was AFTER I played the demo, which I got from 3DFiles where I first heard of CM. I came to investigate buying and my first impression of the site was not good. It did look amateurish and was/is a bit difficult to navigate. I can assure you that some potential buyers have not purchased because of the look of the sight. Scoff if you like, BTS I can assure you does not think this stupid or that the people who did not buy were morons. You got to step back a little from your CM homerism, only some of you that is and I 100% suppport CM homerism btw, to have a little more objective view of how the website comes across. Especially to the person who is casually interested or is "nervous" about purchasing on-line. Also, there is a GREAT deal that can be done to improve the look of the sight without using ANY Flash, Javascript, VBScript, or going crazy with frames. I have said my peace.
  9. Cool.. thanks guys for the info. I have heard the Staghound name before... but was not sure what it was. It is a beast for an AC. I know the Brit's loved the Daimler and it seems the Canuck's loved their Stag's!
  10. I am currently reading a book called "Standard Guide to U.S. WWII Tanks & Artillery" and in it has a section about armored cars. It mentions the Chevrolet built T17E1 that was designed after British armored cars. The US army rejected it but apperantly 2500 were sent to Britain with 1500 having 37mm guns and 1000 with turreted twin .50 AA guns. From the detailed illustration it looks like the Daimler. Was this the Daimler, or was the Daimler built seperately?!?! I am assuming seperate since the Daimler sports a 40mm gun. Just curious. Kong
