  1. Here's mine: * Your score: 4 * Gender: Male * Age range: 40-49 * Best score for your gender and age range: 0 * Highest score for your gender and age range: 1212
  2. The actress' name is Morena Baccarin.
  3. In case you don't recognize her or haven't seen the show, the spokeswoman is the actress that played Inara Serra, the professional companion, in the Firefly series.
  4. There has been a lot of trash talking going on in the office, especially from the boss. I want to have his head put on the cleaning lady, if we can figure out how to do it so it looks decent. During the game, you can spray the picture on the walls. The cleaning lady even fits in as we work at a janitorial service.
  5. Does anyone have a dvd of Monty Python's Meaning of Life? If so, could you take a really good quality screen capture of the scene where Mr. Creosote vomits on the cleaning lady? I have been trying to find one online and the only ones of that specific scene are too fuzzy. I want to crop the scene down to just the area around the two of them. I then want to superimpose someone's face over the cleaning lady and use it as a spray in Left 4 Dead for a lan party. If anyone can help me out, I would be very grateful.
  6. I received a free copy of Vista back when it came out by watching a bunch of Microsoft videos on some website. I still haven't installed it due to all the negative talk. Now that it has been out for awhile, I may have to try installing it. I am worried about drivers for a couple of my peripherals, a joystick and a game controller. I remember upgrading to XP and losing the use of a joystick I had because the manufacturer wouldn't upgrade the drivers.
  7. I didn't get the impression he was blaming Stardock. I got the impression that he bought the game with the impression that he would be able to download updates somewhere with a fast connection, maybe at a library, like many games. The developer failed to note this on the packaging. I agree that he was a tad more pissed off than he should have been, but I felt the developer should have handled it a bit differently. Maybe empathize with him a bit, admit they probably could have added some wording to the box and that would have been the end of it. The part I find funny is that the bill of rights states no download manager needed, yet they develop one that is a requirement. And, from what the complainer said, doesn't offer a restart ability, which would have satisfied him.
  8. I think I used Edmunds to buy my last car. I went in with their TMV value and said I wanted to pay that and they agreed without any argument. Easiest car purchase I ever made.
  9. That Stardock Bill of Rights cracks me up. I was looking at their Sins of a Solar Empire site a couple of weeks ago. They had a link on their main page to a thread on their forum dealing with a customer's complaint. This customer lives in Australia's Outback and only could get dial-up access with speeds around 26kbs. His complaint was that in order to get the patches for the game, he needed to download some custom download manager and IE. He also complained that nowhere on the box does it state these requirements. First the fanboys trashed him. Then, the developer got on there and basically did the same, including banning him. I was pretty disgusted with how they handled the whole situation.
  10. Well, I tried CMBO with the newer drivers last night. The drivers have a hotkey feature that is supposed to allow you to turn the 3d on and off and also adjust other setting by hitting a hotkey combination. I wasn't able to get this to work at all in CMBO or Far Cry. As for the graphics in CMBO, the problems are still there. Most notable are the boxes drawn around a unit when you click on it. Instead of a single box drawn around the unit, you will see two boxes, one to either side of the selected unit. When the hotkey toggle was working, I would turn off the 3d during the planning phase and turn them back on during the movie phase. They worked pretty good as long as you didn't need to select a specific unit. I don't have either of the two later games and don't have their demos installed, so I wasn't able to try them. The drivers contain a list of games and a rating of how compatible they are with any problems they have found. CMBO had very good ratings with two negative comments involving the drawing of lines. If you really want to try them, make sure there is a return policy that allows you to return them if they don't live up to your expectations. I bought mine at a computer fair and got them on impulse. Now, I find I hardly ever use them. Maybe I would use them more if I had a newer monitor that had a much higher refresh rate. My monitor peaks out in the 70 mhz range which causes a lot of irritating flickering while playing with the glasses. Newer monitors probably look much better. By the way, I noticed last night that there are newer drivers out there again. I downloaded them but didn't get around to installing them. I would really doubt that they fix any of these issues, though. The problems seem to stem from the way the games layer the 3d graphics. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.
  11. I haven't played CM with them since my reload. Silent Storm looked good. Far Cry looks good. I will try to check them out tonight or tomorrow with CM.
  12. When I was looking around for answers to the slow boot problem, I saw some references to the slow shut down. I remember one solution was to disable the NVidia Driver Helper service. Supposedly, it isn't really needed. You can do a search in Google's Groups for more info on this.
  13. I have a second machine as well. The machine I was talking about as an Athlon 2600. My other machine is a much slower Athlon 850Mhz system and it was booting faster than the 2600. The 2600 has a Geforce 3 ti200 vs. a TNT2 in the old machine. Do you use Windows Update on both machines? I vaguely recall now that my slowdown occured while updating drivers and other things with Windows Update. Maybe there is a security patch that screws up some driver that Nvidia uses. Just throwing out ideas.
  14. BOOTVIS - from what I read, but never saw it myself, it should give you the amount of time each driver is taking to load. A driver with an unusually high time might be your culprit. I never got to the point that I saw anything reporting this. i just read that it should show this. Safe Mode - If it boots quickly in safe mode, then it probably isn't you MB. Safe mode is using Windows' basic drivers. If your MSCONFIG is clear, the only thing different between safe mode and a normal boot is the drivers that are being loaded. My machine booted quickly in safe mode but not with the msconfig cleared. Searching on the web, I found a few people with similar problems saying it was the NVidia drivers. I know registry bloat wasn't my problem, since I just reloaded my machine and booting slowed down when I loaded up my slightly older Nvidia drivers.
