  1. As a long time player of all games in the series
    Just Upgraded to
    Ryzen 5 2600x
    Win 10 64 bit
    Mem  G skill trident CL14 16 gig 3200mhz ddr4
    GeForce gtx1080 8 gig
    X470 Aorus ultra gaming motherboard
    Samung Evo SSD ( faster transfer rate drive) 500 gigs
     
    I had been using an 8 year old 
    Amd Athlon I3  CPU
    Older Memory ddr3 8 gigs
    Geforce 1050
    Older Mobo
    Upgraded to SSD 2 years ago
     
    Older System was crashing with cmbs
    Got an SSD which improved loading and some performance
    Had to run on lowest settings with my older pc specs
    A medium map on lowest setting could take a minute to load or longer if lots of action going on in map
     
     
    My new system I'm playing runs CMBS with all settings maxed out and loads in around 15-20 seconds on a medium sized map same size etc as one I mention above
    Not sure what the crucial factor is to speed up the old engine 
    My GPUs fan doesn't spin when running game
    Stays idle
    Hardly using the GPUs specs / no heat
    Combined with my fans cooling system
    GPU temp stays very low
    Glad I upgraded
    It does make a difference to cm
    Plus I can super multitask with ryzen
    I also play other main game titles
     
    So if you thinking of upgrading you get  better performance 
    But don't expect too much with the older graphics engine it was based on
     
    I'm still testing full specs with bigger battle vs lag
    Haven't seen any so far
    Just got my new PC a week ago

    Misses are not a bug. Wait you said through. Interesting - possibly. I once saw what I thought was a shot that went through. Upon closer inspection it actually went under the tank. So, instead of a bug it was cool.

  3. Building damage seems fine in cmbs (cm2 engine) from a visual perspective

    SF2 will be the same

    Buildings degrade with small arms fire over time

    Bigger guns, cannons HE etc do more damage quicker and flatten buildings faster

    I think it could be coded to maybe degrade faster with .50 Cal

    Else seems fine in general

    Given the engine used you cannot be too picky about it

    I'm not a newbie being a highly experienced ladder player

    I have files to show people

    Who wants to pm me with there email and I'll link you to a drop folder

    Are you sending these off to Battlefront or just being critical of people's posts?

    I play many games with 000s of files and limited drop box space so I was unable to keep all examples but have some plus more that occur all the time

    I saw a bug this morning 

    Russian AT 13 goes through Ukrainian Tank lol and explodes behind

    Also missed a few times not as bad as bugged firings I've seen

    Also here is an example why Tank crew don't spot well lol

     

  5. Its great we have a new game CMSF2 coming out

    However as it is the same engine as CMBS and many of the same weapons will be used in that

    I have to ask have the bugs been fixed for these as are present in CMBS?

    and Is CMBS going to be patched?

    How many of these  weapons systemsare going over to CMSF2?

     

     

    Observations from extensive play testing and many ladder games of CMBS since it was released

    Take this on board when playing CMSF2

     

    USA vehicles 

    M1167 Humvee

    Must be manually shot - TOW doesn't engage enemy vehicles

     

    M1 Tank inconsistent behavior 

    With Crack crew and high morale +2 ldr

    MI spotted Enemy Rpg unit - M1 fired at them killing one and the Russian survivor ran away

    But Tank spends the whole game panicked

    M1 runs away from everything whole game - its a joke

    In other games I take M1 and it's hit by 5 AT 13s and multiple RPGs etc keeps on going

    Morale is fine - they are running same setup as previous example

    Has happened in a few games

     

    Another game  my M1 is hit in same place - upper front turret just once by At13 and they bail

    Its really inconsistent crew behavior sometimes / damage application

    I do not use APS on M1 as I find it too over powered and unrealistic

     

    I've seen my opponents M1 defeat 11+ AT14 and At13 shots shots with APS after being frontally Armour stripped from my 120mm Artillery and AA Tunguska fire 

    The APS still works

     


    Russian - Ukraine Kit

     

    BRDM 2 (AT-5B)       

    Doesn't shoot

    ( There needs to be a setup where the crew maybe get out - one observes ? the other is in car )

    The whole thing doesn't work

    Its like the US Humvee TOW

     

    Russia Missing there heavy Mg  equivalent  12.7×108mm NSV and KORD ( used in Syria )

    Also KORD .50cal

    No Modern Russian sniper rifles  -  eg OSV-96 or SVLK-14 Sumrak Twilight (Also Used in Syria )

     

     

    Man Portable AT Missile Problems

     

    AT13  At 14  AT7 and Skiff  etc  randomly just fly in random bizarre directions

    Have used in all terrains

    This is constantly occuring

    In Open areas with no obstruction to break wire etc

    It happens frequently and makes taking AT Infantry vs Tanks in open areas pointless

    it happens often making it pointless taking AT weapons only unless in built up areas
    You just use RPGs ( most reliable in the game engine )


    I see Crews with AT 13 AT7 etc launcher also ran back and forth in building trying to Target tank which was clear to shoot St with Blue Los and lots of windows

    They did this for 4 minutes - 4 times after stopping them after each minute

    They were spotted and died

    Has happened many times - yes i've read heated discussions over AI path mapping etc on this forums but this is shooting

     

    Ukraine Corsar randomly goes off in weird directions also

    Crew are not suppressed
    Doesn't happen as much but happens more then it should
    I have games where they work ok and others where every shot missed fired from multiple units

    Same Crew experience

     

    Russian Grenade Launcher single guy ( unit ) has launcher and cannot deploy

     

    He cannot move after his final move point ends

    Ukraine And Russian vehicles and in one case a US Bradley

    Just sit and stare at enemy and don't shoot ( yes im aware it happens randomly as they dropped there smokes or drink ) but sometimes its just stupid

     
    Biggest disappointment is RPO-A and M Shmel
    I took 15 units of these in one urban fight
    2 units fired the whole game as squads who were crack or vet panicked when shot at or never fired when not being shot at
    was a joke
    They just sat and watched enemy
    They had great  command etc high motivation
    Of the two who fired minimal effect on building
    They should vapourise people inside building and set it on fire
    Instead tiny bit of flame and 1-2 guys of enemy 5 man team died and they were shot back at from inside building and they died
     
    As a general comment 
    I've been playing ladder games with CMBS for a long time
    Players have been leaving/dropping off our ladder group due to the general bugs with no updates and overpowered US gear and M1 issues
    Its either super over powered or just stupid with panic etc
     
    Those of us who still play generally only play Russia vs Ukraine games now as a result of the US imbalance

    I try to use different Setups as a top player to challenge myself
    but with the AT bugs as i discussed I have to take tanks now with AT weapons being very unreliable
    Russian kit needs to be updated also
     
    It will be interesting to see how this all works in CMSF2 if its being ported over from CMBS
     
    Especially with AT weapons as they have done considerable damage in Syria vs Armour
    How this game shows it will be interesting vs CMBS

    I support battlefront having bought CM since it was first made but bugs are bugs and I hope these are sorted for CMSF2
    Appreciate it if CMBS is also fixed in the process

  6. Ok thanks for the PC / Open GL info and comment about gravtactics which I also played

    I wasn't aware of CM2 being made with older graphics engine parameters 

    Was hoping the new engine was a bit more modern

    I'd never really cared much for it's specs running an older machine lol

    I was upgrading to play other games and was hopeful of CM2 series loading faster and having better FPS

    I'll time it on my system now and do comparisons and post them when I upgrade in next 2-3 weeks

    If open GL loses support etc I wonder how long the game designers will continue to use

    It's a unique game , it's a shame they have not upgraded it - redesigned it for modern PC's to get the most out of current GPUs etc

  7. Has anyone found performance improved using Ryzen chips or latest Intel coffee lake etc?

    I'm about to get a Ryzen system with nvidia 1080 gpu ssds 3000mhz ram etc and I'm curious as to wether or not CM2 loads faster ; performs better in big maps with multi cores and better gpus etc

    Tech has gone a long way and does this game run well with newer CPUs GPUs?

    What's your experiences?

    What is the engine optimized for?

  8. I haven't read the forums in over a year

    Nothing seems to change lol

    I usually check once yearly

    As you say JPRATT88 they should have a blog or regular update

    It helps generate interest and sales which I thought they would be concerned about

    Many of the guys I gamed with have stopped playing CMBS over a year ago due to no updates and the fact Russian gear was limited, and bugged vs US

    I still play but its generally Russian vs Ukraine games only with 2 guys

  9. As the top cm ladder player for cmbs on the blitz wargamming forum i can say this

    Most gear is fairly well modelled for both sides

    The tests shown by other players are not realistic 

    I dont agree with the testing methods

    Sitting tanks in open to see who spots first isnt an accurate combat test

    Play 50 games as russia ukraine and us vs people in different situations then comment

    The last cmbs patch fixed alot of problems with russian spotting etc

    I prefer playing russia as they have more choices for units

    I like choice and tactical flexibility

    But spotting is generally good for both sides using there equipment and taking into account c2

     Khrizantema-S tank destroyers are the only spotting dissapointment  for russia

    i would have thought they would spot better than they do / faster

    i do not know the real life time spotting for these?

    anyone?

    also there limited in this game engine as to there real ability to pop over hill with missle only and shoot

    in saying that ive found my tanks spot well for there relative points you pay

    theres multiple factors in game that account for spotting and the units experience etc also

    us humvee tows have never shot any tanks or apcs

    they are broken to me

    russia has a similar vehicle with at missles on roof of armoured car  that never shoot as they die first

    no point using these two except for building demo work

    US abs tanks are quicker to spot but cost more

    They are not always uber at spotting stuff from my experience 

    Every game is varying with them and im personally not a big fan of using these with there cost

    Ive seen 1 rpg take one out

    Other games it takes 13 rpgs to kill one

    It all comes down to tactical situation and each game

    I feel Russia Ukraine and US could have more units and weapons

    Too many key ones missing 

    Russia needs there heavy MG thats similar to a 50 cal

    Bit smaller than 50cal i cannot recall the calibre

    and there newer sniper rifles

    Im sure thats part of an upgrade package

    Im happy to play russia any time in a game and personally do not feel disadvantaged

    Yea make sure your sniper has supports as DMS notes

    Keep in your line

    If a unit is engaging another unit a sniper will usually tip the balance in your favour and adds to suppression

    Get the sniper in movies idea out of your head cause its more about suppression

    You will get kills here and there but they are not uber units and often die quickly if alone or two far foward

     

     

     

     

  11. As a long time player of all the cm games i appreciate what the issue is and why he rage quit.

    Been there done that and was playing the following week ;)

    I was playing a pbm and i shot my opponents tank thru a lot of pine looking trees

    Im taking alot of trees

    Say 35 trees deep

    The position of the trees was quite mixed but i got what i call that "sweet spot"

    I was shocked by it cause it seemed like a bug

    Tried replicating it but couldnt

    Tried other angles but none worked

    I have had infantry, at guns , tanks shoot thru building windows to hit targets on the other side of the building, thru trees and bushes into areas that appear not to have LOS

    It rare and happens

    The blue line showing LOS is a 98% Indicator as to what you can see

    That is taken from a certain point from the unit / vehicle that can see or shoot

    Other points "may" be visible of your unit to the enemy 

    Ie your tank 

    Your LOS blue line is showing LOS to the ground point also

    A higher object ie vehicle will possibly become visible that is just outside of the blue line LOS zone

    Cover with deep trees is usually ok i note

    But there are gaps and there is that small chance

    Its rare but happens

    I personally play with the LOS viewers as a rough guide

    I roughly know i can see something in that area but it is not guaranteed or as clear cut especially with terrain features and moving tanks or infantry moving or ducking

    You need to all take that into consideration

    This applys to CMBS as well 

     

     

     

  12. I wonder how many of these soldiers have un diagnosed concussion

    The effects of short and long term concussion exposure making them combat ineffective 

    They get concussion form the blast effects of artillery - explosives going off

    poor guys

    The US had 000s I under stood with diagnosed concussion in the middle east wars

    Result was breakdown, depression, suicides etc in many returning vets the effects are being studied and looked into now
