  1. Oh my. I am fully prepared to apologize if need be. Just give me a reason. If they wouldn't make me work so much, I could spend more time posting and playing and then things like this might not happen. "If grandma had wheels, she'd be a wagon" Oh dear me. I'm sad to see the Peng thread go. It was that thread that inspired me to rent Kelly's Heroes. I sat there with my girlfriend and pointed out all the interesting things I learned from the Peng thread. Oh sweet lawd above. Two months later, I still can't formulate a decent taunt. Perhaps it just wasn't meant to be.

Today will be a day of mourning for me and anyone who mistakenly comes in contact with me.

    The Peng thread is dead.

    Long live the Cesspool.

Knowing that TCP/IP play will include a timer, I was wondering if BTS plans on provisions for when the timer runs out and troops have no orders. While I think it's fitting that troops don't do anything, I don't quite think it's realistic. Rather if a unit doesn't get orders, there should be a condition where the AI can take over, so that if you don't tell a platoon to move, it may move as it sees fit, based on the situation around it.

This way you can set up a portion of the battlefield and, if your troops handle the troops, you can let them run relatively free, while you concentrate on the sticky situation with your limited time.

It appears that whoever can click faster will have an advantage. Doesn't that detract from what what Steve and Charles wanted in CM to begin with? Since I dim-witted, it takes me longer to make stupid mistakes, so I prefer PBEM.

If there will be a timer, I agree that a "Hold" command will be a viable alternative to missing out on giving orders because you aren't fast enough. I would change the hold to a "Guard" command. This would basically be stay put and shoot at what comes into your LOS (reasonable)

    Just my rantings.

  4. The people who post in the Peng thread are not "bad" people. I have sat at their feet and listened to many many tales of their battles. I have cleaned their armor, sharpened their swords, and have mucked out their stables. They don't tip me or even say nice things to me, but they don't kick me. (much) One day, I hope to grow up and be just like them. "I may look like this now, but I'm drinking milk."

I love an update that has a little meat to it and this one is chock full of it.

For some time now Tiger has been teasing you with his new Jagdpanther all done up in Ambush colors. Well I finally got the time to get this bad boy posted.

Yesterday Deanco released his new Interface Total Conversion mod and I know have it available for download in the Interface mod section.

Now, on to the meat. Ron Alderdice and Ariel Ledesma Becerra collaborated to write up a great new article which covers the ins and outs of proper HQ use and misuse. Get the most outa of your HQ's with this great new Aricle. Even includes some useful Delay Time comparison charts!

    Get you fill!

Thanks MadMatt. Maybe if I keep studying the articles, I might be able to beat someone from the cesspool thread. I hope.

Now I have the AI sitting in the corner thinking about what it did, BAD AI, bad bad AI!

Actually, the best way to beat the Tigers was displayed by the US Army in WW2.

What you do is, you get a bunch of heavy bombers and bomb the crap out of the oil production centers.

Then, you get a bunch of medium bombers and bomb the crap out of the the transport network.

Then, you get a bunch of tactical fighter-bombers and blow away all the trucks and ammo carriers that supply the Tigers with fuel, food, ammunition, etc. Some think you should attack the Tigers themselves, but this is generally ineffective, despite the reports of the USAAF detroying every Tiger ever produced during WW2 6 times in the three months surrounding D-Day.

By the time your Shermans show up, the hungry, ammo-less, and fuel-less Tiger crews abandon the tank and destroy it for you.

    Problem solved.

I've been reading a book by John Keegan and he basically said the same thing.
