1.
quote:
Originally posted by a1steaks: I just want to do battle with everyone!!

LOL...beat the guys in your group, and you'll have a chance
 2.
quote:
Originally posted by a1steaks: I'm ready for PBEM or TCP/IP whenever you are Commissar.

I dont believe you're in my section, a1. The guys in my section are Cpl Carrot, Warhammer, Dogface, Lopaka, and Wreck.
 3. Capitalistdog, I like your idea. Cooper, Im not sure about someone filling out for a driver. From what I know, driving a tank around a battlefield isn't as easy as driving your Toyota to the supermarket. Maybe experts in the field like Mannheim Tanker or others can fill us in? Also, although TC hits would probably be the most common, Im sure there were many ways in which other crew members could have gotten KIA or WIA. Concussions from none penetrating hits, penetrating but none fatal (to the entire tank that is) rounds, or encounters with land mines are some amongst many ways to get hurt while in a tank.
 4.
quote:
Originally posted by Marco Bergman: Why Marco decided to skip the muddy Sherms. Valid explanation.

Marco, What we are seeing is the sort of evolution us CMBO mod freaks undergo once in a while. Remember when everyone suddenly got hyped up on dark terrain after being fed their fill of bright, happy looking textures? Well, same thing here. Many of us who are playing this game for a while get tired of seeing the same thing month after month. So we go post messeges like this to bugger you poor, overworked modders to appease our already spoiled selves There is nothing wrong with clean textures. It has its own "coolness" to it, like going to a car show and looking at all the purdy autos on their glossy stands. However, the "grime" look also has its own appeal. Kind of like the kick folks get out of watching monster trucks, dirt bike rallies, and topless mud wresling.
 5. Cpl Carrot: To answer your question, I am 5 hours behind GMT. USA, Eastern time. My opponent list so far: Cpl Carrot: Scenario 1, PBEM, Nov 15th Warhammer: Scenario 2, PBEM, Nov 8th (official start date specified, since no other date provided) OK all you other 3 blokes, speak on up!
 6. Its rather unfortunate that we will not see a "gold" demo like we did with CMBO, but Pvt Ryan is right. Game companies lately seem to like releasing demos at the same time as the game hits the shelves. Probably because they dont want to waste time developing a demo, or giving the wrong impression through unfinished gameplay features seen in the demo.
 7.
quote:
Originally posted by Marco Bergman: I object to the label "cartoonish". This implies bold colours and reduced detail, which I don't feel is a fair statement.

Marco, I think what he meant was that while your models are highly detailed, they seem to represent a fresh tank that just rolled out of the factory (which the crew then gung various exquipment on). If I am not mistaken, General MB is asking for some of this stuff to get roughed up. Instead of having a shiny tank, a more realistic effect could be achieved by having the tanks somewhat uglified. Not lessen the detail mind you, but make it look like it went through a few battles and its share of muddy, trampled roads. In your defense, I don't feel "cartoonish" is a proper term either, however. This is something I would not mind seeing too. As another thread not too long ago asked for, "Bring on the mud, dents, and uglyness!"
 8.
quote:
Originally posted by Gyrene: I suppose that 100:1 in favor of the Germans in the Eastern Front is different right? Gyrene

Oh I do hope you are joking, for your sake...
 9. Cpl Carrot, Sir, yes SIR! Oh, uh, sorry. Right then, I got PBEM with you, and now I need to hear from the other 4 blokes. Common then, speak up! To keep track of my opponents: Cpl Carrot: Scenario 1, PBEM, Nov 15th.
 10. Well, you can find some solice in the fact that in CMBB, with morale factors for armor as well as infantry, you can be sure that when your BT crests that hill and finds 2 Tigers looking down on him, he'll rout and get the f* out of there as fast as possible. So at least that will be taken care of. Note that none of this will affect CMBO, because as BTS have said, they will no longer make updates for this game.
 11. TO MY OPPONENTS IN SECTION 3: Dear Cpl Carrot, Warhammer, Lopaka, Dogface 21 and the much esteemed Wreck. Before the deadline, I would just like to ask you guys your preffered playing style. Those of you who prefer PBEM play, please say so. Those of you who like TCP/IP and are willing to arrange a date, speak up and let's discuss the time, date, and meeting place. Because I don't mind multitasking, those of you who like PBEM can ask me to play simultaneously while I am playing my other opponents from our section. I'll be able to do it all at once to be on the safe side of the time limit. EDIT: I would just like to add that there is no need to do all this by e-mail, because this is AFAIK our thread, and until the tourney starts, we can save inbox space and arrange everything "in-thread". 12.
quote:
Originally posted by Colonel_Deadmarsh: Do you by any chance write for PC Gamer?

Oooh, take that, Rob Smith!
 13. Since we will not pick our own units for these scenarios (right?), what is gamey or not can easily be decided there after. For example, scouting/attacking with crews or empty bazooka/mortar/whatnot teams should be considered gamey to the extreme. That one I can slam the gamey label on with no ifs about it. Oh, and one question: How will scoring be decided? Do you have to lose one game to be kicked out, or will we be allowed t lose several and thus have to replay some people to determine a section winner? I assume after one is chosen from a section as overall winner, they play against the winners from the other sections, correct?
 14.
quote:
Originally posted by Treeburst155: It is very easy on the players. You will see when you get your first game started. Treeburst155 out.

So, when will we start, now that we have everyone ready and willing?
 15. WARHAMMER, Unless the scenarios we will be battling each other in are humongous, you will not need to zip the files. On a 5000 point game, I rarely get files larger then 1.5 megs at the peak fo the action. For smaller scenarios, the usual size is around 150-500kb. An easily transportable ammount.
 16.
quote:
Originally posted by Treeburst155: [QB] If you are on this list PLEASE think carefully about the commitment you are making. Five games in 90 days!! QB]

Treeburst, Do we have to do this by PBEM, or can we go TCP/IP if both players are willing?
 17.
quote:
Originally posted by CombatGeneral: Gotta go, my dogs looking really cute right now, she need a lot of attention.

To hell with the PC, back away from your dog!
 18. redwolf, Question: Why do you hate Glantz? Also, did you base this view after reading a single book, or several?
 19. Aw crap. I posted in the Noridc Wanabe thread, but I missed this one (damn you, job!) Now I guess I'm out
 20. Count on me. Im sorta kinda Nordic. Ok not really, but those dastardly nordics once played a role in the lives of my ancestors or something. Enough talk, we crush now! E-mail is in profile.
 21. Maybe someone could sprinkle mud stains on existing mods?
 22. In responce to the thread title: To piss off Linda WarChest
 23.
quote:
Originally posted by Bog: It's a Halloween surprise. I know it.

Great. MadMatt will post pictures of himself all over the site. He'll have links that have promising titles like "Shots of new CMBB buildings" or "Ambush command in action!" Once the unsuspecting fan clicks on one of these links however... BAM! It's MadMatt staring at you!! Aaaaarhg!!!!   [ 10-28-2001: Message edited by: The Commissar ]

 24. Whats wrong with Win 98? All you OS nuts, take it easy and treat an OS like a new game. In this industry where "release now, patch later" syndrome makes a constant appearence, you've got to wait and see before pruchasing anything. Ask people who have it what they think. Read reviews. Look into any possible conflicts with your current setup. Don't blame the publishers of a game that came out years ago. Its not their fault. CM1 will NOT be patched, Linda, because BTS is working on CM2. However, if this is truly recognized as a problem that is not fixed by Evilsoft or NVIDIA, then BTS will attempt to make a patch.
 25. There I was, expecting the big surprise Ted promised us
