  1. Really quick delivery to Seattle Ordered Wednesday night, got it today (Monday) Good job on sending it priority mail, 2-3 days anywhere in the US. (don't count sunday of course)
  2. Dang it! i didnt order it till wednesday, always thinking things will come out later than sooner Been hounding the mailroom at work here, hoping against hope. oh well i'm going to have to go snowboarding instead. hopefully i'll break my leg or something and be able to get off work for the next two weeks. Self inflicting wounds for CMAK!
  3. Great responses! Col. Glantz will get the nod here.. I can say from his lectures that his maps are legit.. they were soviet maps with his annotations on them which is nice (seeing they are in russian).. I am needing these maps to follow along in Erickson's Road to Stalingrad so an operational atlas is what's needed in the long run (my library is calling for one anyways) Erickson certainly could create an atlas to go along with his publications, but maybe he'd just be reprinting the same maps Col Glantz has? Regardless, I'll make the investment seeing how rare EF atlases seem to be.. thanks alot "I gotta hand it to the Krauts, them Stugs is bad news." - MickeeMao somewhere in Hungary
  4. Yes the west point campaign maps are something I'm looking for.. I'm suprised David Glanz hasn't released an atlas, it seems like he has so many maps. At his lecture he was selling many unpublished works of his own.. I should have dove right in while I had the chance, maybe there was an atlas in there. I'm just shocked Cassell or Osprey (or the like) has'nt put out an eastern front atlas. Note to self: win lottery. publish east front atlas Oh well, the Cassell WWII atlas is one the list for now..

  6. The website looks great... still there's nothing like holding those tomes. I know somebody's got to have one out there! Just a title & author would work Mister Stalingrad
  7. Just wait until the KV-2's show up! no town left for puny coward german panzerknacker teams to hide in. Uh if the KV-2's transmission get them within 100 km of the battle that is..
  8. Here's my first QB AAR - it's not that great, no screenshots ect, but some of my impressions ect: Played 1941 QB as Deutchers: Had the computer buy my equipment for me. Conditions: Windy, Sunny June 1941 – Extreme Fog of War Big Church (with cemetery behind it) Small Village – Open Terrain in front of village – Forests to the left of the village I had: A platoon of Hotchkiss 37mm 1 Company of Veteran Infantry 1 37mm PAK 1 75mm Infantry Gun 81mm Mortar spotter 1 Sharpshooter 1 Trench 2 Anti-Personnel Minefields They had: Multiple T-26’s 2 BT-5’s 3 T-37’s 2 Companies of mixed infantry Some pretty good ordinance I was defending the town & put most of my men in the forest as I figured that’s where they would attack – seeing there was a lot of open ground before the village for the Russians to cross. That place became a Russian tank graveyard. Placed mines in the forest & a platoon with a trench behind the forest (where the mortar was) ----------------------------------------- Notes: Russian Artillery started on the first turn. Due to wind? It totally landed in an open area with no troops. That could have been the difference in the game, as it was a lot of steel falling. Fell for 3-4 turns. I killed the tanks with the AT Gun and conservative Shoot&Scoot Hotchkiss tactics over a series of turns. One T-26 was far away & didn’t move for many turns. I figured it was knocked out or something. Then suddenly on turn 10 its start moving around again! Like Frankenstein. I think maybe it was shocked by the sharpshooter for a few turns My Artillery was damn near useless in the wind! Way off course, in fact falling off the board! The 75mm Infantry gun is amazing. That thing must have got off 4 shots a turn. I mean a quick loading gun. Ended up taking out 4 tanks & routed a platoon. Went head to head with 2 BT’s and KO’ed them both. This may have been because they were a Crack unit. Got lucky there. Hotchkiss took out some T-26’s & T-37’s & did much anti-infantry work. 2 of my platoons in a forest got 25 kills each! The Russians attempted to cross the mined forest. Minefield + 3 Hotchkiss direct fire = No fun for ruskies T-26’s ect never were able to spot machine gun in church Anyways I waxed them pretty good, Declared a ceasefire after they were well routed (I felt bad) – Total Victory. No Hotchkiss losses. Russians – 200 causalities German – 18 Casualties Overall Impressions: Hotchkiss can hold their own against T-26’s & BT’s – some took hits & shrugged them off. 75mm Infantry Gun is outrageous in ’41 – Rapid fire & big hits. I was firing at some MG’s on the other side of the village. Notice a couple houses blowing up for no reason. Whoops it was the 75mm shots a little off course (wind?) – didn’t hit my own men but in a house near them one of my squads crawled away… AI wasn’t the greatest, but it is the Russians in ’41 attacking so I don’t expect anything too brilliant. Certainly things will not always be this way. If a KV-1 showed up, or their artillery didnt get blown off course I would be in big trouble. A T-37 was taken out by my MG.. Trenches are a great fallback strongpoint. Great for mortars & HQ's as well.. You guessed it: Super fun – every time I play this game it reminds me what an improvement over CMBO this is.
  9. Tom, Can't say I need any MOD's yet. The whole CMBB is one Giant MOD to me still.. But scenarios! Can't wait for them to start flowing! Of course I'll need a few weeks just to go through the ones that came with the game. But after that I'll get to work on a Scenario.. I'm thinking Carpatian or Caucus Mountain adventure/excursion..
  10. I had a hell of a good time whipping the Finns last night. Ran a QB to test out different Russian tanks in 1941. Let me just comment on the KV-2 here. KABOOM! Firing anywhere near a house and the whole thing goes up. It's slow as slow can be, but once it gets there (if it doesnt bog) it's a force to be reckoned with (in 1941) The Finn T-26's fired & fired to no avail. The only way I can see the Finns driving off the KV-2 is by sustained fire from many directions & HOPING the KV-2 will get a little flustered and drive away. Which did'nt happen. Coupled the KV-2 with a Flamethrowing tank once all the Finnish gnat/tanks were killed (with the help of my T-34-57) went to work on the forests. Deadly combination. Started bombing the forest with the KV-2 to keep thier heads down (or off) and drove the T-26 flamethrower right up there. Can throw fire 75 meters! Yow. With no panzerfausts/shrecks it's a bit more possible to get away with leading with armor & the troops following up. Molotovs can only be thrown so far.. I love it, different tactics for different years/phases of the war. I never even got past 1941 yet, I'm having too much fun re-discovering the game.. This variety will give the game a way longer lifespan than CMBO! And CMBO's never ran out! Now thats scary..
  11. Just got the new game in my grubby hands today, but had a last hurrah (for now) at CMBO last night. Downloaded Old Hickory & played it as the Germans. I've never been a fan of hedgerows for some reason, but this one has such a great map. I especially took advantage of the gullys near the town... Overall one of my faves & a fitting temporary requim to CMBO. I'm afraid I might not appreciate the steppes now! Oh well I'll make it through somehow.. I'm not sure if it's in the new game yet, but ive been reading some on the "Stalin Line" outside of Leningrad. The book "The Russian Front" by Carruthers & Erickson has some great descriptions of the fortifications around Krasnoguardeysk (pgs 22-25) Would make an interesting Operation, yet it relys on tank ditches (as well as swamps). Would you all be able to simulate tank ditches? Thanks for all your hard work there at boots & tracks. I really appreciate all the research y'all do... mister stalingrd
  12. CMBB has landed here! got it.. now how to escape this maddening place called "work". The Finns have to be taught a lesson! Hmm yes pull the fire alarm... Good thing, i wasnt looking forward to going to the Baronoff -mister stalingrd by the by - BTS you came through! thanks Priority mail actually worked!!
  13. Ah yes, I live in Seattle (Phinney Ridge/Greenwood) as well. I get my mail downtown through my PO Box. I'm going to check it at 2pm. I figure i might have a chance to get it a little earlier cutting out the delivery to the house. I'll let you know if it comes in.. it's going to be today or tomorrow though! 2 years in the waiting. If it doesnt come in I'm going to the Baronoff and kareoke sad songs with the one-armed man till I'm in a drunken stupor.
