  1. It would be nice too if you could spare a few moments and include a readme giving some small credit to BFC , A & others and the original mod author Marco Bergman for all the hard work and effort he put into making and detailing the original gem smile.gif

Without his contribution the "basic" texture would not be as easy to modify in a realistic manner.

Credit where credit is due smile.gif

and a kind welcome to the ModSquad :D

  2. Bolton...what version of th Tiger I were you using at the time???

In CMBB there are 3 distinct versions of the Tiger I

The Tiger ( Pz VI E early ) has 6 smoke launchers ..3 either side of the turret. These were 90mm smoke candles.

The Tiger ( Pz VI E ) is the MID Production version.

The S mine throwers were only fitted to some of the last / early and mid production Tigers.

These throwers were 100mm in diameter and they launched a S-mine containing 360 ball bearings.

Then you have the Tiger (Pz VI Late )

This vehicle was fitted with the Nahverteidigungswaffe which was a device that could fire mortar /smoke / fragmentation grenades ( looking at pictures these grenades were in the scale of 90-100mm ) as well as the 26mm APgrenades we see popping out of the turret from the Tiger I late.

The 26mm grenades had a supposed lethal zone of something like 100m.

  3. I have been chewing over the whole "future of CM on the Mac" for the last couple of months in the light of me being a "Magpie" that likes to collect &hold onto his favoured things.

CMBO / CMBB and CMAK fall into the basket of "favoured things" that i want to hold onto.

    My current setup is a DP800 G4 with a Apple 17" LCD , OEM Radeon 32MB video card , 1.5Gigs of RAM . 2x80GHD ( internal ) and a Lacie 120GHD ( external).

The future of the current CM games for me holds in store a new Radeon 8500 64MB video card , replacement of the dual 800s with at least a 1.467Ghz single cpu and fingers crossed a new bigger display....the display may come before the cpu.

I will have my mac set up when the time comes to have each seperate internal HD with only one OS on it....1st for CM/OS9 and the second for OSX. The external will be dual boot and be used as backups to the two internals.

As for CM / BFC and Apple Mac's...right now BFC have to concentrate on getting CMAK out the door and releasing some funds so they can actually have some income over the next 6-18 months while CMX2 is being developed.

We will be in good hands for the future with BFC once they complete MCX2 /OpenGL/OSX as THAT is and has to be the main focus for them seeing as OSX will be the defacto OS for Macs in the foreseeable future.

  4. Hi Franko... i just HAD to see what my bud Mattman2k was raving about ( he usually raves alot as he is RAVING MAD ) ;) .

Well...... i played it for the first time last night and "struggled" to win a minor victory against a ferocious Red assault...and i played it again today( Major Victory this time around ). The "star" for the Axis was the Pak 40 for me in both battles. It claimed 5 ko tanks in the 1st and 7 ko in the second.

The pace of battle once joined just never seemed to let up. The Axis commander has to make delicate but pressing judgements on where and how fast he has to send in his armour...as i lost a few to the mud nowhere near the frontline...thus putting even more pressure on the defenders.

An outstanding *WOW* what the *Feck* moment for me in the second time around was watching a Stug ko and destroy a Soviet SPG not 100m away...only to see the "destroyed" SPG fire off its last round after it had been ko smack into the Stug that killed it..both went up at the same time. Talk about wanting to tear your hair out  smile.gif

I also had one of those Tank Hunter teams do the biz with 2 tank kills at close quarters. I had hidden the team on the roadside in a crater... i was not able to see them even with the bases on. During the game i forgot about where they were..only to have my eye catch hold of a "Hit" on a advancing Soviet tank.......yup..it was that hidden team doing its job..and it soon took out another smile.gif

All in all Franko...really enjoyed the scenario..its to be commended as a vs AI.

REALLY looking forward to more of your work..especially the Kursk battle smile.gif

  5. Ales...as Andreas was saying i use a Radeon 32MB AGP OEM card that i was lucky enough to grab hold of about 6 months after i bought my Dual 800 G4.

When i was all set to buy the mac....Steve Jobs lost the head wiith some guy from ATI over "stealing" his thunder before a upcoming MacWorld Expo....which led to the Radeon being pulled as a option in the G4 range. I was left with a choice of a GF2MX or a GF3 with 64MB of video ram. I went for the GF3 thinking it would be great for CM texture graphics.......was i wrong

Even though the GF3 card had twice the memory of the Radeon..its ability to display the CM afv textures left an hell of a lot to be desired. I nailed down the problem while making my Tiger I mod for CMBO. I sent MArco Bergeman and Gordon Molek some early text textures and asked them to take a ingame pix of the upper hull surface.

Marco had a 8MB Vanta card at the time in his PC..and it was MUCH better than the GF3 card. So.. i resolved to hunt down a OEM Radeon AGP..and was one day lucky enough to catch one at OWC smile.gif Have'nt looked back since as the card does all that i ask of it..ie disply thhe CM afv textures in a nice clear crisp fashion which is a Godsend when trying to make a mod smile.gif .

nVidia / Apple drivers are the root of the CM graphic woes as far as i know.

Now..back to the ModMines and attempts to sort out that 'orrible exhaust / fender/ idler mapping problem

  6. Sir's i have noticed recently and in the past some complaints in regards to the "stock" Jagdpanzer IV texture that comes with CMBB.

This "stock" texture has been described variously as "too bright" and "flourcent mold"

Well..i do apologise for assaulting your eyes with it as i was the original maker of that particular texture. It is in fact nearly 3 years old now and it was my 2nd EVER mod that was made on a iddy biddy iMac with all of 6MB of video RAM and a distinct lack of knowledge of just "how" bright it was due to it being made and viewed with CMBO original bright stock terrain textures.....hence it sticking out like a sore thumb in the more subdued CMBB terrain textures.

In an effort to try stop BFC ;) losing potential customer's over this i have spent the last week ( read 90+ hours of my free time) making a new replacement texture that i hope people will find more agreeable.

There is still a lot of work to be done on it...completion of the track work , trying to find a "fix" for how the rear idler wheel maps onto the side of the exhaust , new exhaust , shading , zimmerit , cammo , weathering , unit insignia etc.

I have paid a lot of attention to details.....all of it is 100% scratch built and its a portent of things to come

Below is a link that will let you have a look at her as she is now smile.gif

I am taking a break for a few days as i need a rest and time to recharge my "Modmaking Batteries."

ps..... just to be clear.... i am not "getting at" anybody in regards to my previous work...just sticking up for the wee old JgPz ( all in good humor ) and letting you know that a new improved model will arrive soon enough.

ps....the texture will work in both CMBO and CMBB and it will be CMMOS supporting...once i pay MikeT ....The Bill :D

  7. Hell gentlemen and ModFiends smile.gif

Below is a link that will take you to 5 pix of the Pz II as it is at this moment in time...nearly complete..some minor niggles to clear up...and then its off to the CMMOS Men :D

Unit markings will be included for the 5th "Devil / Devils Head" Pz Division and the 11th "Ghost" Pz Division , and the 21st PzDiv in North Africa ( in case anybody is using a NA mod with CMBB )

    web page

I have not had time yet to work up winter versions as i just spent 90 hours this past week making a new JgPzIV....and its still not finished  :D

  8. J.Taylor... i have a 12" 800mhz iBook i bought in Feb of this year...it has the Radeon 7500 with 32MB VRAM , upgraded 40Gig HD and 640MB of RAM ( bought a stick of 512 from OWC ) and its way nippy compared to my old 333mHz iMac tongue.gif

It runs fine and dandy with both CMBO and CMBB.....fog effects and all smile.gif

If you are going to get one..the new 900mHz one looks the biz as its video memory is now DDR compared to my SDR for the Radeon.

    Go get her :D

  10. Hi lads smile.gif

Lee & tootz..... I am using a colour based on the German paint standard. Its as close as can be got to what the colour looked like.

I had been told it looked very "grey" by somebody else. I have sent it off for initial reactions to some other Mod buds who use PCs...so i will wait and see what they think before fiddling any more with the colour.

It would likely lighten up some though with dirt and dust...just gotta wait and see how it goes smile.gif

    Lee..yes..Tease to Please ;)

Rob / Warmaker...thanks guys for the continued interest in the CMBO Tigers i did ....and yesi hope to be able to do conversion to CMBB.

Its "UP THERE on my list.....just had not got the time yet to try see what i could do.

Seeing as i can do a bit more since i made them i "may" lean towards making CMBB specific Tiger I mods seeing as we got the complete early / mid / late 3d models.

Its all down to time ...i want to wrap the PzIIs up fairly soon ( Måk speak...within the next month ). I'm still working on the M-24 Chaffee for CMBO ... and today i want to start some "other" mod work..just not the Tiger.

Thanks again for the continued interest....and one day the wee Tigger will arrive ;) ....just not yet.

  11. Hi all..been a few weeks and some since i posted some pix of my WIP Pz II mod for CMBB.

There will also be a Dunkelgelb ( sand ) version ..and hopefully winter versions of both..time permitting.....( and mb a few bi cammos )

I have the markings for the 2ndPz Div on it as a test to see how they look. I may offer some other div markings as options..but again..thats if time permits...as i want to start some new Mods very soon.

Some weathering and stuff still has to be done..but progress is being made smile.gif

I will also upload some new pix of the dunkelgelb (sand ) version once i kill some pinkees and some other stuff in due course.

I hope this Mod will find the odd home or two once its released..when its finished ;)

BTW..this Mod is my payback to BTS..i provided the original colour photographs of my 1/35th scale model to Dan..he did wonders with what i gave him ( dark and blurry ) ..... just my way of saying SORRY to Dan for giving him extra work at the time when he was going without sleep and food..but not Beer ;) .

  12. lcm1947

We might even see the day that BFC asks you to stop posting as they are trying to shut down the CMBO forum for lack of participation.

WHAT!!!!!!! ...and where would an old Modder go then to post new pix of some neglected tanks and thingies?

SHAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMME on you Lee for ~EVEN having the thought cross your mind :D

BTW Dandelion .....you will be getting a nice M-24 as a reward for Holding Up the CMBO forum on your shoulders ... but....just not yet ;)

  13. 1st off....Michael Wittman at the time Operation Barbarossa was in command of a Stug III Ausf A (nicknamed "Buzzard" ) with the short 7.5cm gun.

He was a SS-Unterscharführer ( Sergent ) at this time.

According to the Gary L.Simpson book ( which some view as discredited ) that day Wittman recived an order to guard Point 65.5 on his own. During the course of this he discovered up to 18 T34/76s in his area. In the action that followed 6 "T34/76 tanks" were ko by his Stug III A ..the remainder of the russian afvs retreating.

"In "Panzer Aces" Franz Kurowski describes the same action ( but around Point 56.9 ) which includes the destruction of a KV-1 and 5 other tanks by Wittman and his crew.

he also states that at this time the Stugs had to operate alone over a 10km front to offer support to the infantry.

Wittman received the Iron Cross ( 2nd class ) for decisive action against a New Zealand Div. in Greece at the Kilidi Pass around the 10th April 1941."

According to Patrick Agte's book covering Wittman and the Tiger commanders of the LAH..Wittman did indeed face 18 russian tanks alone on that July day in 1941. He states that Wittman succeeded in ko 6 russian tanks, whic earned him and his driver the Iron cross ( 2nd class)!!!! ( obvious conflict with some sources here)

Stug III .....the Stug III F with the long barreled 7.5cm L/43 began its production run from March 1942 to September 1942 with 359 vehicles being produced + 1 prototype.

Prior to this the Stug III ausf. A to E had been armed with the short 7.5cm L24 gun.
